Joe Biden‘s new assistant White House communications director has a long history of radical social media posts promoting extreme LGTBQ and progressive politics. Tyler Cherry, who was elevated to the White Communications team after serving as a staffer in the Department of the Interior, has compared the police to pre-Civil War slave patrols in the American South.
He additionally has called for abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and criticized calls for Democrat outreach to the white working class. In addition to the controversial posts, Cherry’s social media feed also features the communications staffer in risque and provocative clothing while attending what appears to be LGBTQ-aligned festivals and other events.
During the 2016 presidential campaign, Cherry routinely criticized the Trump campaign and media outlets for their lack of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Even Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT)—a far-left Democrat and socialist—was not immune from Cherry’s DEI-focused criticism, with the future Biden communications staffer noting Sanders rallies were “very, very white.”
The Biden staffer also expressed anti-police and pro-communist views in multiple social media posts. He stated in 2015, “Praying for Baltimore, but praying even harder for an end to a capitalistic police state motivated by explicit and implicit racial biases.” In January of that year, Cherry likened local police to slave patrols before the American Civil War and said that Voter I.D. laws are the equivalent of poll taxes.
Cherry responded to the revelations regarding his social media posts Sunday afternoon. “Past social media posts from when I was younger do not reflect my current views. Period,” the Biden White House staffer wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He added: “I support this Administration’s agenda – and will continue my communications work focused on our climate and environmental policies.”
