The brother of Joe Biden‘s Ambassador to Japan, Rahm Emanuel, hammered the 81-year-old Democrat for rejecting calls to withdraw from the 2024 presidential election after his disastrous debate performance last week. Ari Emanuel, a Hollywood Democrat megadonor and CEO of the entertainment company Endeavor, told attendees at the 2024 Aspen Ideas Festival that donors are abandoning Biden, and removing him as the party’s nominee is now likely a legal matter.
“Everyone says, ‘Well, get rid of [Biden]’ and broker convention. Nope,” Emanuel said bluntly, suggesting that there is a slim chance the Democratic National Convention delegates can maneuver to replace Biden. He added: “I promised myself I wasn’t going to swear, so we’re in a… this is a pickle.”
“The lifeblood to a campaign in politics, the lifeblood is money,” Ari Emanuel explained—noting his brother has had a long career in government, including a stint as Barack Obama‘s White House chief of staff and as Mayor of Chicago. He continued: “[M]aybe the only way this gets [resolved]—with smart lawyers looking at it—is if the money starts drying up.”
When pressed as to what happens next, Emanuel responded: “If this is, as Biden says, the fight for our democracy… man, he gave us a bunch of malarky, and I’m really pissed… I talked to a bunch of big donors and they’re moving all their money to Congress and the Senate.”
“I cannot believe we’re in this situation… we’re in f**k city,” he declared, appearing angry and exasperated by Biden‘s refusal to step aside despite his shockingly diminished mental faculties.
