MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski has attacked Rep. Nancy Pelosi for refusing to endorse Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee, complaining that Democrats are fueling their own “self-destruction.” Pressed to back Biden, the former House speaker equivocated, saying it was “up to the President to decide if he is going to run.”
“We’re all encouraging him to make that decision because time is running short… and people want him to make that decision,” Pelosi said—despite Biden insisting the decision has been made and he is staying in the race, repeatedly and unambiguously.
“I think we all ought to take a close look, especially Democrat, at ourselves because there is a bit of self-destruction that is happening here. I really disagree with Nancy Pelosi, with her remarks,” Brzezinski complained. “She’s a close family friend. But Joe Biden is the president of the United States, and he says he’s not leaving. Those are his words. I suggest somebody think about, consider, believing him,” she added.
Since Biden’s disastrous debate with Donald Trump, Brzezinski’s co-host and husband, Joe Scarborough, has been less supportive of the 81-year-old incumbent. Despite having previously said that “this version of Biden, intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever,” he joined the chorus of pundits suggesting he should go after the debate.
“If he were CEO, and he turned in a performance like that, would any corporation in America keep him on as CEO?” Scarborough demanded.
