The Secret Service is implementing new security measures for former President Donald Trump, including the use of bulletproof glass at his future outdoor events. The decision follows the assassination attempt on Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Though bulletproof glass is typically reserved for sitting presidents and vice presidents, the new measures aim to enhance Trump’s protection ahead of November’s election. Glass panels will be placed around various locations nationwide to ensure they are readily available for Trump’s events.
The updated security plan will include glass panels enclosing Trump on three sides during his rallies. A senior official described the logistics of these preparations to CNN as “a significant undertaking.”
Following the attack on Trump, the Secret Service faced criticism for what the agency acknowledged as “a failure.” Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe addressed the incident earlier this month, emphasizing the importance of deterrent measures to prevent similar events.
