President Joe Biden let slip one of the most controversial statements this campaign about his former opponent, President Donald J. Trump, stating during a campaign event in New Hampshire this week that he wants to “lock up” the 45th President despite the fact that no further charges are being brought against the former president between now and the election.
Initially, Biden stated, “We gotta lock him up,” but then hastily tried to alter his comment to clarify the need to “politically lock him up,” adding, “lock him out.”
In recent years, the Biden-Harris regime has launched multiple criminal cases against Trump, spearheaded by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
However, Smith has been plagued by several issues during his attempts to jail the former president, including having to admit that evidence may have been tampered with by the FBI following the 2022 raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida.
Last year, CNN legal analyst Elie Honig admitted that Smith intended to lock Trump up prior to the election but has so far been unsuccessful.
Overall, Trump faces 34 felony counts linked to attempts to allegedly cover up “hush money” payments to Stormy Daniels, as well as allegations by prosecutors that he tried to overturn the 2020 election result.
However, many of the prosecutions have either stalled or mostly collapsed, including the Georgia case brought by Democrat Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, with a judge dismissing several counts last month.
Willis is not attempting to reinstate six counts that were previously dismissed in the case, while Trump and his lawyers have previously attempted to have Willis removed from the case entirely after it emerged that the lead prosecutor she hired was also her romantic partner.
