At least one car has been driven into pedestrians at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany. Multiple people are reported injured, with the driver arrested at the scene of the incident.

UPDATE: 16:15 PM EST — The Minister-President of the Saxony-Anhalt region—roughly equivalent to a U.S. state governor—has said the suspect in the Mandeberg attack is a Saudi male. Local media suggests he is a doctor.
Minister-President Reiner Haseloff, of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party formerly led by Angela Merkel, also confirmed at least two dead, including a toddler, but indicated this toll is likely to rise.
UPDATE: 2:55 PM EST — The AFP news wire service reports between 60 and 80 injured in Magdeburg, citing local emergency services.
UPDATE: 3:15 PM EST — Bild, the highest-circulation newspaper in Germany and the wider European Union, reports at least 11 fatalities so far.

Graphic video footage purporting to be from the market shows a large number of people being struck at high speed. Rumors circulating on social media suggest that at least three people have been killed, and that the driver was Syrian, but these claims were unverified as of the time of publication.
In December 2016, a Christmas market in Berlin was rammed by radical Islamic terrorist Anis Amri, a Tunisian migrant the government had failed to deport despite rejecting an asylum claim he had lodged as illegitimate. Twelve people were killed and over 50 injured in this attack.
