Glucksmann, a center-left candidate who supports surrendering much more national sovereignty to the European Union (EU), secured ten percent, while the center-right Retailleau secured six percent, and the eco-socialist Tondelier secured three percent.

Ahmed spoke about alternatives to “colonial models of knowledge transmission.” The forum lists Al Jazeera Centre for Studies, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Shanghai University among its supporting institutions.

The now-deceased Professor Jason Arday was accused of plagiarism in his work and fabricating his personal biography by Nathan Cofnas, an American academic at Ghent University in Belgium, earlier this year. Arday resigned his post after an investigation was launched into his appointment. He was found dead in his London home earlier this month. Arday was heavily promoted by the university as the institution’s youngest black professor. Following the news of his passing, Cofnas was suspended by Ghent University, a decision which sparked criticism from the Trump administration. “The ultimate purpose of freedom of speech is to overturn lies, fraud, and false ideologies. This is precisely what Cofnas was doing, and precisely the reason his home institution wants to silence him,” said U.S. Ambassador Bill White.

📺 DETAIL: Abdul Shinwari, a 24-year-old Afghan man, has been charged with the rape and sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl in Manchester, England. The incident occurred during the early hours in the city center on July 14. Shinwari was charged with two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, non-fatal strangulation, and drug possession with intent to supply. Previously, Greater Manchester Police recorded nearly 10,000 rape and sexual assault offenses in the year ending June 2024, with one in five victims being male. Local authorities have since launched a strategy to combat gender-based violence, including so-called honor-based violence.

Burnham previously faced criticism for his handling of sexual exploitation, such as the grooming gangs, during his time as Mayor.
