The Japanese government issued an alert late Tuesday (EST) after North Korea launched a suspected ballistic missile under the guise of a satellite launch.
The U.S. Embassy in Tokyo soon issued the following statement: “The Japanese government is warning that North Korea may have launched a missile. The government is urging people in #Okinawa to take shelter immediately. Watch local news for current information.”
The Associated Press reported: “North Korea has launched purported space launch vehicle, South Korea.”
The AP updated their report, “Some 30 minutes after the warning, Japan’s government tweets that the alert was cancelled. “It is expected that the missile reported earlier will not come to Japan,” it said.
