New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who promoted open borders and styled NYC as a “sanctuary city” for years, now says mass migration is poised to “destroy” the Big Apple as it struggles with an influx of over 110,000 illegal aliens.
“Let me tell you something, New Yorkers. Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this. I don’t see an ending to this,” Adams warned.
“This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City,” he stressed. “We’re getting 10,000 migrants a month… people from all over the globe have made their minds up that they’re going to come through the southern part of the border and come into New York City,” the Democrat complained – despite having hailed Joe Biden’s decision to “halt border wall construction” as a great achievement in 2021.
Now, Adams complains the Biden regime is not doing enough to alleviate NYC’s migrant crisis. Other senior Democrats seem equally reluctant to lend a hand, with New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy – who previously declared NJ would be a “sanctuary state” under his leadership – urging Biden not to send any NYC migrants to federal sites on his turf.
“I don’t see any scenario where we’re going to be able to take in a program in Atlantic City or frankly elsewhere in the state,” Murphy insisted earlier this month.
Despite these complaints from Adams and Murphy, border states with conservative electorates who never supported the Democrats’ mass migration policies continue to bear the brunt of the crisis.
