Michael Edison Hayden and Hannah Gais, both of the George Soros-backed Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), have signed an open letter denouncing Israel as an “apartheid state” and “ethno-nationalist project” seeking an “eliminationist assault” against ordinary Palestinians.
Their pro-Hamas letter – published by Writers Against the War on Gaza – also criticized media organizations for describing recent Hamas attacks on Israel as ‘unprovoked.’ SPLC, which claims to be dedicated to monitoring “hate and anti-government extremist groups,” issued a statement accusing Israel of killing Palestinian civilians in airstrikes, which was edited later to say Palestinians were “killed” rather than “targeted.”
Hayden and Gais crashed the New York Young Republican Gala in 2022, penning bizarre fan-fiction about their evening in exchange for MSNBC coverage.
Gavin Wax, the President of the New York Young Republican Club told The National Pulse: “The SPLC’s embrace of terrorism on par with that which they fought in their foundational era underscores how far from its lofty ideals it has strayed. The SPLC and its on-hire goons have no place in adult functions; they must be relegated to the ivory tower, where consequences are muted and accountability nil.”
The open letter’s sentiments, signed by Hayden and Gais, may in fact match the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of anti-Semitism. The letter supports an international boycott of Israel and has been signed by hundreds of far-left figures including Jazmine Hughes, a New York Times Magazine reporter who resigned after doing so. Her actions were criticized by her help as a violation of Times policy on public protest.
