Davison will be replaced by Scott Wagner, a long-time ally of DeSantis who has been handed grace and favor jobs by the Florida Governor after managing his gubernatorial transition. Wagner apparently came to loggerheads with PAC strategist and Iowa “genius” Jeff Roe recently, with the pair squaring off in a board meeting. Wagner’s ‘Faithful and Strong’ Policies organization has links to Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) alleges that 33-year-old Yunqing Jian and her boyfriend, 34-year-old Zunyong Liu, conspired to bring multiple strains of Fusarium graminearum—a fungus known to destroy food crops—into the country for unauthorized research.
According to a criminal complaint unsealed Tuesday in federal court in Detroit, Liu arrived at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in July 2024 on a B2 tourist visa. During inspection, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers found hidden plant samples in his bag. Liu initially lied about the materials, claiming someone else had placed them in his belongings. He later admitted the samples were strains of the crop-destroying fungus and that he had smuggled them into the U.S., supposedly to conduct research in Jian’s lab at the University of Michigan.
The complaint describes the pathogen as responsible for billions of dollars in global agricultural damage annually. The toxin it produces is also known to cause vomiting, liver damage, and reproductive defects in livestock and humans.
Jian, a Chinese citizen with a doctorate in plant pathogens from Zhejiang University, allegedly received financial support from a government-funded Chinese foundation and maintains ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She is now charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, smuggling, making false statements, and visa fraud.

Washington, D.C.’s sole, 2.2-mile-long streetcar line will soon be no more, with the city government deciding to replace the over $200 million boondoggle just 15 years after track for the project was first laid on H Street NE and a decade after actual operations commenced. Initially billed as an environmentally friendly, more accessible, and aesthetically pleasing alternative to city buses, the streetcar line will be replaced by a bus once again. Still, in an apparent attempt to save face, Mayor Muriel Bowser insists the electric bus is actually a “next generation streetcar.”
The electric bus that will replace the H Street streetcar will utilize the existing overhead power cables, meaning it will still suffer from some of the existing drawbacks that the failed street-level rail system did. Notably, the existing rail line lacks a barrier separating it from the street, which has resulted in the streetcar being unable to proceed forward when a car is double-parked and blocking its track. While the electric bus will not be confined to a track in the same manner as the streetcar, the overhead cables will still limit its maneuverability.
In over one decade of operation, the D.C. streetcar has never once generated a single dollar of revenue. It operates on a $10 million taxpayer subsidy per year. After years of delays and cost overruns, an eventual rushed rollout of the streetcar caused city officials to neglect installing a fare collection system on the streetcar. Eventually, the city government gave up on any plans to charge streetcar riders as the single 2.2-mile line struggled to match the capacity of buses running along the same route.
Despite the city’s budget constraints playing a significant role in the decision to shutter the sole operating streetcar line, the Democrat-dominated D.C. government still intends to push forward with a costly “green” public transit system. City Administrator Kevin Donahue has indicated that the overhead cable-powered electric bus line will allow officials “to more nimbly and quickly expand the streetcar line out beyond where we currently are.”

Prime Minister Dick Schoof reportedly made a last-minute appeal to coalition leaders on Tuesday morning, but the meeting ended after just one minute when Wilders walked out. Wilders later posted on X, “No signature for our asylum plans. PVV leaves the coalition.”
The coalition, formed in July 2024 after lengthy negotiations, included Wilders’ PVV, the notionally conservative but largely liberal VVD, the upstart Farmers‘ Citizen Movement (BBB), and the marginally center-right New Social Contract.
VVD leader Dilan Yesilgoz called Wilders’s decision “super irresponsible,” while Deputy Prime Minister Mona Keijzer of the BBB accused Wilders of “betraying the Netherlands.” However, with PVV being the most successful party in the last Dutch election, many will argue it was incumbent on Wilders’s coalition partners to defer to him on his key issues of asylum and immigration.

Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has claimed responsibility for a significant explosion targeting the Crimean Bridge, also known as the Kerch Bridge. The bridge, a 12-mile-long structure linking Russia to the Crimean peninsula, was partially destroyed in the operation.
Footage of the incident shows an underwater detonation damaging one of the bridge’s pillars. The SBU disclosed that 1,100 kilograms (~2,245 pounds) of explosives were used to carry out the strike. This bridge was a key supply route for Russian military operations since Crimea’s annexation by Russian forces in 2014. However, it is less significant now that Russian forces have occupied a “land bridge” from Russia proper to Crimea along the Black Sea coast.

The operation follows an even more daring Ukrainian operation behind enemy lines, with drones smuggled into Russia via truck targeting strategic nuclear bombers at bases as distant as the Mongolian border.

Close to 1,200 illegal immigrants crossed the English Channel in a single day over the weekend, sparking criticism of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s handling of border security. Figures from the Centre for Migration and Economic Prosperity (CMEP) reveal the crossings have cost British taxpayers £732 million so far this year, with people smugglers profiting £96 million since January.
Saturday’s surge saw 1,194 illegal immigrants arrive on British shores, bringing the total for 2023 to 14,652. CMEP data shows that since 2018, taxpayers have spent over £8 billion (~$10.8 billion) on the 165,427 illegal immigrants known to have crossed the Channel. Meanwhile, smugglers have amassed more than £1 billion (~$1.34 billion) in profits since 2018.
The crossings come as France’s efforts to prevent boats from leaving its shores appear to be declining. French authorities intercepted just 38 percent of small boats this year, down from 45 percent in 2022 and 46.9 percent in 2021, despite Britain having paid £800 million to France since 2015 to address the issue.
Images from the northern French coast show illegal aliens wading into shallow waters to board small boats, often launched from rivers farther inland. Defence Secretary John Healey attributed the record crossings to French police failing to intervene in these areas, admitting, “Britain lost control of its borders five or six years ago.”
CMEP Director Steven Woolfe criticized the ongoing crisis, saying, “Today, people smugglers are laughing in the face of the British people. Whilst they make [a billion pounds], the British are paying £8 billion a year to house, feed, and look after their clients.”
Projections suggest 2025 could see record Channel crossings, with estimates of up to 52,263 boat migrants, potentially costing Britain nearly £3 billion in the first year alone.
