Who Are The Houthis, And Why Are America & Britain Bombing Them?

The United States and the United Kingdom have announced the start of a joint military operation against Yemen’s Houthi rebel group. For several months, the Islamist rebel group that controls large swaths of Yemeni territory has engaged in a campaign of harassment and terror against international shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. This campaign is allegedly at the behest of their primary state backer, the Islamic Republic of Iran.

As of Thursday, the Yemeni-based Houthis have carried out at least 27 attacks on international shipping off the shores of the nation –situated at the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula.

An attempt last month by U.S. President Joe Biden to organize an international response fell apart after European partners became frustrated with the slow response from the U.S. military and decided to undertake escort missions for international shipping on their own.

Yemen, in red.

With Houthi attacks continuing to threaten U.S. military assets in the region as well as wreaking havoc with global supply chains, the U.S. and U.K. may find themselves increasingly dragged into both the long-running Yemeni civil war and a broader regional conflict which has pitted Israel and Saudi Arabia, respectively, against Iran and its regional proxies in Gaza, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen.

So Who Are The Houthis?

For most of its short history, the Houthi rebel movement was a minor nuisance to the Yemeni government. That changed in 2011 when the Houthis took part in the broader Yemeni revolution – though they later rejected a governing deal proposed by Yemen’s National Dialogue Conference. In 2014, rebel groups’ numbers swelled, and they were able to seize control of the country’s capital.

An uneasy political alliance struck between the rebels and former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh aided the swift takeover of much of Yemen by the Houthi rebels. A decade before its rise to power, the rebel group had been one of the chief opposition moments against Saleh. In 2004, the Yemeni military under the Saleh government had killed the rebel group’s founder Hussein al-Houthi after they claimed he resisted arrest. The group is now primarily under the leadership of Hussein al-Houthi’s brother, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi.

Relations between the Houthis and Saleh’s political faction deteriorated, with Yemen plunged into civil war. Saudi Arabia backed a series of pro-Saudi leaders against the Iranian-backed Houthis, and in 2017, the Houthi rebels assassinated former President Saleh, after accusing him of treason. There are conflicting reports as to whether Saleh was shot by a Houthi sniper while attempting to flee his compound in a vehicle or if rebels inside the compound itself executed him.

Also known as Ansar Allah, or ‘Supporters of Allah’, the movement’s official slogan (below), reads:

Allah is the Greatest
Death to America
Death to Israel
A Curse Upon the Jews
Victory to Islam

The Houthis are mainly Zaidi Shia Muslims, who believe in an activist and political interpretation of Islam.

It’s Actually A Regional Proxy War.

The Houthi rebels began in the 1990s as a Zaidi Shia Islamist revival movement – initially focused on restoring Zaidi cultural and religious practices. Their Shia Islam affiliation and opposition to Yemen’s Sunni majority naturally aligned the group with the interests of the Shia-dominated Islamic Republic of Iran. Under Iran’s influence, the Zaidi revival movement was radicalized, abandoning a more academic pursuit of cultural revival and opting instead to instill their religious and cultural ideology through conflict.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, along with leaders of Lebanon’s Hezbollah terrorist group (also an Iranian proxy), provided training and aid to the Houthis – accelerating their transformation into a more aggressive rebel faction. In 2014, a series of street protests escalated into a full-blown battle between the Houthi rebels and the Yemeni military. After a few days, the Houthis had routed the Yemeni forces and were able to seize the country’s capital – kicking off a decade-long civil war.

Saudi Arabia, Yemen’s northern neighbor and the regional center of Sunni Muslim political power, quickly intervened in an attempt to counter Iranian influence. The influx of weapons for various factions – provided by Iran and Saudi Arabia – escalated the conflict from a civil war to a regional proxy war.

By 2015, the Saudi-recognized government under Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi had moved the Yemeni capital from Houthi-controlled Sanaʽa to Aden. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia itself, along with regional backers and logistical support from the U.S. under President Obama, launched a subsequent air and ground campaign aimed at ending Houthi territorial control in Yemen.

In 2018, President Donald Trump vetoed an attempt by Congress to end U.S. support for Saudi Arabia’s efforts in Yemen. After assuming office in 2021, however, President Joe Biden moved to freeze U.S. military sales to Saudi Arabia – effectively ending U.S. involvement in the conflict. A truce was established in March of 2022, freezing the conflict temporarily.

Houthis Escalate After October 7th Hamas Attacks.

On October 7th, 2023, the Muslim Brotherhood’s Hamas terror organization in Gaza – allied with the Houthis since 2021 –  launched a terror attack on Israel, killing over a thousand civilians and soldiers, and taking several hundred people hostage. Israel swiftly responded with a military assault on Gaza to eliminate Hamas. Iran, which had pledged to cease arming the Houthi rebels in 2022, reversed course and began shipping arms to Yemen within days of Israel moving against Hamas – also an Iranian proxy.

Houthi insurgents initially focused their efforts against Israel – using Iranian-supplied missiles to target the Jewish state. Those missiles, however, were either intercepted by the Israeli Iron Dome defense system, U.S. military assets in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, or by Saudi-based land-to-air defense systems. Unable to strike Israel directly, the Houthis instead opted to attempt strikes on U.S. naval assets off the Yemeni coast, as well as international shipping moving through the same waters.

Since late October 2023, Houthis have used a combination of missiles, speed boats, helicopters, and drones to launch attacks against container ships, oil tankers, and U.S. naval vessels in both the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The campaign of terror and piracy forced a high volume of international shipping to divert from the critical Suez Canal and Red Sea routes – instead having to sail around the African continent to avoid the Houthi attacks.

Escalation.

The renewed conflict in Yemen has the potential to explode into a broader regional war, especially as Israel’s military action against Hamas drags on. Many of the senior leaders of the Houthi rebels were educated in Islamic ideology by Hezbollah’s Hassan Nasrallah – giving the Lebanon-based terrorist leader a degree of personal investment in the success of the Houthis.

Iran, for its part, has promised retaliation for any strikes against the Houthi rebels. The Islamic Republic could use its proxies in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq to target both Israeli and U.S. military assets in response to the joint U.S.-U.K. military operation in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia poses another potential point of escalation. While we do not yet know the scale and scope of the U.S.-U.K. military operation, it is believed targets in Yemen will include critical infrastructure used by the Houthis including ammunition depots, drone facilities, missile sites, air bases, and air defense installations. With the Houthi rebels military capabilities likely being crippled by the Western powers, Saudi Arabia may be unable to pass up the opportunity to end the Houthi presence in Yemen entirely. Such a move could not be ignored by Iran – and could risk a large-scale regional war.

UK Govt Slashes Farage’s Security Funding Amid Rise in Political Violence.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Reform Party leader Nigel Farage’s taxpayer-funded security has reportedly been reduced by 75 percent in the past two weeks.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Nigel Farage, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and Zia Yusuf, Reform’s head of policy.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Reform reporting the funding cut on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in the United Kingdom.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The parliamentary security department made the ‘inexplicable’ decision to downgrade Farage’s protection.” – Zia Yusuf

🎯IMPACT: Donors have reportedly stepped in to fund Farage’s security following the alleged cuts, which come amid the ongoing fallout from conservative youth organizer Charlie Kirk’s assassination in the U.S.

IN FULL

Nigel Farage’s Reform Party has reported that his taxpayer-funded security detail has been reduced by 75 percent in recent weeks, despite the recent assassination of conservative yoth organizer Charlie Kirk in the United States and a rising threat of political violence. Zia Yusuf, Reform’s head of policy, described the move as “inexplicable” and noted that it came just days after Farage accused Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer of “inciting violence” by calling one of Reform’s immigration policies “racist.”

Yusuf said private donors have since stepped in to cover the costs of Farage’s protection. “I want to be clear to Reform supporters: Thankfully, we have had generous donors step in to shore up that security, so I can assure you Nigel is safe and he is well protected, but that places into context this hideous campaign of incitement to violence against the man who is bookmaker’s favourite to be the next Prime Minister,” he said.

He accused the governing Labour Party‘s leadership of leading a coordinated attack on Farage, citing comments from 11 Cabinet ministers. “The Home Secretary called him ‘worse than racist.’ The Deputy Prime Minister accused him of ‘flirting with Nazism.’ If anything happens to Nigel, I will hold the Prime Minister responsible,” Yusuf said.

He also referenced threats made against Farage online, including on TikTok and X, and recalled personally witnessing attempts to attack him during campaign events. Leftists have on several occasions thrown milkshakes and even cement at the populist leader, while illegal immigrants have issued recorded death threats against him.

The Labour-controlled House of Commons declined to comment on specific security arrangements, claiming decisions are made based on professional risk assessments and are kept confidential to avoid compromising safety.

The security row comes at a time when Farage and Reform are experiencing a significant surge in public support. According to a recent Ipsos poll conducted between 11 and 17 September 2025, Reform leads national voting intention with 34 percent, ahead of Labour at 22 percent and the formerly governing Conservatives at just 14 percent, the lowest share ever recorded for the party by Ipsos.

The same poll reveals deep public dissatisfaction with the current Labour leadership. Only 13 percent of respondents said they were satisfied with Starmer’s performance as Prime Minister, while 79 percent expressed dissatisfaction.

Trump Halts $18BN in NYC Funding Over DEI Policies.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The Trump administration has frozen approximately $18 billion in infrastructure funding for New York City projects, citing concerns over unconstitutional diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Russell Vought, Director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and New York City officials.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Announced on October 1, 2025, from Washington, D.C., impacting New York City infrastructure projects.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Roughly $18 billion in New York City infrastructure projects have been put on hold to ensure funding is not flowing based on unconstitutional DEI principles,” said Vought.

🎯IMPACT: The funding freeze affects the Hudson River Tunnel Project and the Second Avenue Subway project, with further updates expected from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

IN FULL

Russell Vought, Director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB), announced on Wednesday that the Trump administration has frozen approximately $18 billion in infrastructure funding for New York City. The decision was made to ensure that funding is not distributed based on what Vought described as “unconstitutional DEI principles.”

The funding freeze affects major projects such as the Hudson River Tunnel Project and the Second Avenue Subway project. Vought made the announcement via posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

“Roughly $18 billion in New York City infrastructure projects have been put on hold to ensure funding is not flowing based on unconstitutional DEI principles,” Vought wrote. He indicated that more information would be forthcoming from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT).

The announcement coincided with the first day of a U.S. government shutdown after Democrats in Congress refused to pass stopgap funding bills. However, Vought clarified that the funding freeze is unrelated to the government shutdown.

The U.S. Air Force Is Moving Refueling Tankers and Other Assets to This Country—With a Warning.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A significant deployment of U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotankers has been observed moving into the Middle East, signaling increased military readiness amid rising tensions with Iran.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The U.S. Air Force, Iran, and regional actors including Israel, as well as analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

📍WHEN & WHERE: Aircraft have been tracked in recent days departing from Atlantic bases and arriving at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, a key U.S. Central Command hub.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The moment Israel starts a war, we will also enter a war with the United States.” – Major General Mohsen Rezaei, former commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

🎯IMPACT: The deployment underscores the potential for rapid escalation in the Middle East.

IN FULL
The U.S. Air Force has shifted a number of KC-135 Stratotankers to the Middle East over the last 48 hours. Data from flight trackers indicates planes leaving bases along the Atlantic and gathering at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which serves as the main hub for U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). This move reflects a clear boost in American military preparedness and could signal renewed strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities. Tehran has threatened reprisals against potential strikes.
This abrupt influx of numerous KC-135 tankers occurs during a period of extreme instability in the region. Comparable major troop shifts occurred right before U.S. intervention in the 12-Day War between Israel and Iran in June, with the U.S. bombing sites critical to the Iranian nuclear program. By amassing refueling resources in Qatar, the U.S. ensures rapid deployment capabilities throughout the area.
Iran has asserted its readiness for war, while claiming it won’t initiate hostilities. Mohammad Jafar Asadi, the deputy for inspections, stated that Tehran would expand its missile reach “to wherever necessary” and threatened a strong counteraction if targeted, rejecting demands from the U.S. and Europe to curb its missile production.

On Sunday, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, the former chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC), cautioned that a lone Israeli attack might spark a broader regional conflict drawing in the U.S., declaring, “The moment Israel starts a war, we will also enter a war with the United States.”

President Donald J. Trump has signed an Executive Order warning that “The United States shall regard any armed attack on the territory, sovereignty, or critical infrastructure of the State of Qatar as a threat to the peace and security of the United States.”

While this has been interpreted by many as a rebuke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who recently launched an attack on Hamas targets in Qatar against U.S. wishes, it is likely also a warning to Iran, which launched missiles at the Gulf state after the U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Nigel Farage Tops Popularity Charts Among British Teenagers.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Reform Party leader Nigel Farage is the most popular politician among British teenagers aged 13 to 17, surpassing rivals and even celebrities.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Nigel Farage, British teenagers, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, Conservative (Tory) Party leader Kemi Badenoch, and other leading politicians.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The survey was conducted by Merlin Strategies, with findings relevant to the next British general election, which must be held sometime between now and 2029.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Gen-Z is very different. Very different to Millennials. I see a lot more ambition, I see a lot more rejection of what they’re being indoctrinated with at school and university.” – Nigel Farage

🎯IMPACT: Reform’s popularity among teens could significantly influence the next general election, with projections already showing the populist party on track to place first with 311 seats in the House of Commons.

IN FULL

The future of the British political landscape is shifting to the populist right, with a poll finding that Brexit champion and Reform Party leader Nigel Farage is by far the most popular politician among under-18s.

Despite Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s left-wing Labour Party attempting to smear Farage as a “racist” and the “single greatest threat” to the country’s “way of life,” these attacks do not appear to be resonating with the youth the way they have with older generations. According to a survey from Merlin Strategies for the New Statesman, of the 13 to 17-year-olds who intend on voting in the next general election—which must be held no later than 2029—33 per cent said that they would vote for Farage’s Reform party, compared to 27 per cent for Labour, and 12 per cent for formerly governing Conservatives (Tories) and the far-left Greens.

Farage’s personal popularity also stands out, with 38 percent of British teens viewing him favorably, compared to 25 percent for Prime Minister Starmer, 23 percent for far-left former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who is attempting to launch a third party focused on Muslim issues, and just 16 percent for Tory leader Kemi Badenoch.

Notably, Farage’s friend and ally, President Donald J. Trump, is the second-most popular politician among British teens, at 28 percent.

“It’s happening. Gen-Z is very different. Very different to Millennials. I see a lot more ambition, I see a lot more rejection of what they’re being indoctrinated with at school and university,” Farage said of the British youth last June.

GOP Closes Gap With Dems in Tight NJ Governor’s Race.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A new poll shows a tight race between Jack Ciattarelli (R) and Mikie Sherrill (D) for New Jersey governor.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Jack Ciattarelli, Republican candidate, and Mikie Sherrill, Democratic candidate.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The poll was released in New Jersey, October 2025.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Voters across the board want a change (76%).” – Quantus Insights Poll

🎯IMPACT: The race is now considered a dead heat, with significant gains by Ciattarelli among Independent voters.

IN FULL

Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli is now running neck and neck with Democrat Rep. Mikie Sherrill in the New Jersey gubernatorial race, according to a new poll. The Quantus Insights Poll shows Sherrill narrowly leading Ciattarelli 48.1 percent to 45.8 percent among likely voters, a margin within the poll’s error range.

This marks a significant shift from earlier surveys, including a Labor Day poll where Sherrill held a 10-point lead. Ciattarelli’s recent surge is attributed to his strong performance among Independent voters, where he leads 51 percent to 38 percent.

For much of the campaign, Sherrill maintained a comfortable lead over Ciattarelli. However, recent polling has indicated a tightening race, now considered a dead heat. She has been hurt in part by a scandal related to cheating at the U.S. Naval Academy, which saw her barred from walking with her classmates at her graduation.

Sherrill’s advantage has decreased to a 4.7 percentage point lead in the latest RealClearPolitics polling aggregate. Notably, this aggregate underestimated Ciattarelli’s support by about five points in the 2021 election.

Joe Biden officially won New Jersey by 16 points in 2020, but by only six points in 2024—one of the biggest improvements for President Donald J. Trump nationwide.

Senate Democrats Have Forced a Government Shutdown.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Much of the federal government shut down after Congress failed to reach a temporary funding deal before the midnight deadline.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Members of Congress and federal government agencies.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The shutdown began on Wednesday at midnight, affecting federal operations nationwide.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The Far Left faction of Senate Democrats shut down the government because we wouldn’t give them hundreds of billions of dollars for healthcare benefits for illegal aliens. It’s craziness—and people are going to suffer because of it.” — Vice President J.D. Vance

🎯IMPACT: Government services and programs have been halted, affecting millions of Americans.

IN FULL

Much of the federal government shut down on Wednesday after Congress failed to reach a deal to keep government programs and services running before the midnight deadline. The inability to pass a funding bill has led to a significant disruption in government operations, with federal agencies forced to suspend services and furlough employees.

Senate Democrats blocked an eleventh-hour short-term funding bill that would have averted the shutdown late Tuesday, insisting the legislation include an extension of Obamacare tax credits, which are set to expire at the end of the year. Millions of Americans rely on these credits to lower healthcare costs. Republicans, however, argue that extending the credits would lead to increased taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants.

“The Far Left faction of Senate Democrats shut down the government because we wouldn’t give them hundreds of billions of dollars for health care benefits for illegal aliens,” Vice President J.D. Vance said Wednesday morning, adding: “It’s craziness—and people are going to suffer because of it.”

Vance also warned that air traffic controllers are “no longer getting paid” due to the Democrats’ intransigence.

Notably, the Republican-backed funding bill only fell five votes short of passage in the Senate, with Sens. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) voting for the measure. The funding bill was also backed by Sen. Angus King (I-ME).

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) voted against the legislation with the bulk of the Senate Democrats.

Ambassador Found Dead After Hotel Balcony Fall.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The South African ambassador to France, Nkosinathi Emmanuel Mthethwa, was found dead after falling from a hotel balcony in Paris.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Nkosinathi Emmanuel Mthethwa, a former Cabinet minister and South Africa’s ambassador to France.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Tuesday morning at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Porte Maillot, Paris.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The circumstances of his untimely death are under investigation by the French authorities.” – South African government statement

🎯IMPACT: The incident has prompted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the ambassador’s death, amid his recent implication in judicial inquiries back in South Africa.

IN FULL

Nkosinathi Emmanuel Mthethwa, South Africa’s ambassador to France and a former Cabinet minister, has been found dead after reportedly falling from the 22nd floor of the Hyatt Regency hotel in the Porte Maillot area of Paris. French prosecutors have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The 58-year-old had checked into the hotel, where investigators say a secure window appears to have been forced open. His body was discovered early Tuesday morning after a police search was initiated in response to concerns raised by his wife. French authorities also confirmed that his last known phone signal was traced to the Bois de Boulogne, a large park west of Paris, where search dogs were deployed during the initial investigation.

“The circumstances of his untimely death are under investigation by the French authorities,” the South African government said in a statement.

Mthethwa, a long-serving member of South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC), formerly led by Nelson Mandela, had recently been implicated in a judicial inquiry probing alleged corruption and reported links between senior South African officials and organized crime.

He served as South Africa’s Minister of Police from 2009 to 2014, attracting widespread criticism following the 2012 killing of 34 striking miners by police in Marikana. Afterward, he was reassigned to head the Ministry of Arts and Culture, a position he held until 2023. That same year, he was appointed ambassador to France and UNESCO.

The South African embassy in Paris is located just a few miles from the hotel where his body was found. A French investigative judge has been dispatched to the scene, and authorities say inquiries are ongoing.

Mthethwa’s death comes amid tense diplomatic relations between South Africa and the United States. The Trump administration has openly criticized the South African government over “extrajudicial killings” of white farmers. In May 2025, Trump directly confronted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa with video evidence of slain farmers’ memorials, accusing his government of turning a blind eye to anti-white violence.

Trump has also granted asylum to dozens of white South Africans, citing fears of persecution, and cut off certain aid programs to South Africa.

This State Is Adopting the Trump-Backed School Choice Program.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen (R) signed an executive order opting the state into a federal school choice tax credit program, allowing taxpayer dollars to fund private school tuition.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Governor Jim Pillen, Representatives Mike Flood (R-NE) and Adrian Smith (R-NE), and the Nebraska State Education Association.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Announced Monday at a Catholic school in Lincoln, Nebraska.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I am not opting this in, I am cannonballing it into the state of Nebraska.” – Gov. Pillen

🎯IMPACT: The measure allows families earning up to 300 percent of the area median income to receive scholarships.

IN FULL

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen (R) has signed an executive order to opt the state into a federal school choice tax credit program, a provision included in President Donald J. Trump’s tax and budget bill passed in July. The program allows individual taxpayers to direct up to $1,700 in federal income taxes owed to scholarship-granting organizations for K-12 private school expenses.

Announcing the decision at a Catholic school in Lincoln, Pillen declared, “I am not opting this in, I am cannonballing it into the state of Nebraska.” He was joined by Representatives Mike Flood (R-NE) and Adrian Smith (R-NE), who supported the federal budget bill and the private school scholarship initiative.

The move comes after years of contentious debate over school choice in Nebraska. A similar state-level proposal in 2023 allowed taxpayers to divert state income taxes to fund private school scholarships. That measure was repealed by voters, but a new law was passed to fund scholarships directly from state coffers. The federal program now bypasses state-level restrictions, enabling even high-income families to benefit.

Critics, such as Nebraska State Education Association President Tim Royers, argue the program undermines the will of voters. “Families making more than $200,000 a year are eligible to receive a voucher funded through these tax credits,” Royers said, adding that the decision disregards the recent voter rejection of state-level vouchers.

Pillen, however, countered that the federal program does not deplete public school funding. “We have to have great public schools, and we have to have great St. Teresa’s,” he stated. “And because of this legislation, both can win.”

Trump to Deport 120 Iranians Following Agreement with Tehran.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Iran has confirmed that 120 of its nationals are being deported from the United States under President Donald J. Trump’s immigration enforcement policies.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Iranian foreign ministry official Hossein Noushabadi, President Trump, and U.S. officials.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The deportees are expected to arrive in Iran within one or two days via Qatar, according to Iranian state media.

💬KEY QUOTE: Noushabadi called on the U.S. government to “respect the rights of Iranian migrants and their citizenship rights under international law.”

🎯IMPACT: This marks the first phase of a deal to deport 400 Iranian nationals, a rare instance of cooperation between the U.S. and Iran.

IN FULL

Iran announced that 120 of its citizens are being deported from the United States, with their return expected within the next one or two days. Iranian foreign ministry official Hossein Noushabadi confirmed the development, stating that most of those being deported had entered the U.S. illegally, primarily through Mexico. A smaller number reportedly held valid U.S. residency permits.

The deportation is part of a broader agreement between the United States and Iran to repatriate Iranian nationals. The first phase of this deal involves the deportation of 400 individuals, with this group being the initial wave. The deportees are being flown to Iran through Qatar, according to Iranian state media. Noushabadi called on the U.S. government to “respect the rights of Iranian migrants and their citizenship rights under international law.”

President Donald J. Trump has continued to ramp up immigration enforcement actions, aiming to directly deport over 300,000 illegal immigrants by year’s end—with many others choosing to self-deport. Notably, the highest number of deportations over a single year—in recent history—was previously achieved by former President Barack Obama, totaling just over 300,000.

This rare instance of cooperation between the U.S. and Iran comes despite the absence of formal diplomatic ties. The deportation process is being facilitated through Iran’s U.S. Interests Section at the Pakistani embassy in Tehran.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Dallas executed a criminal search warrant at Chicas Bonitas Cabaret, targeting suspected human trafficking and unlawful employment.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: HSI Dallas, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Dallas office, and multiple federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
