In a recent interview with GB News presenter Nigel Farage, former President Donald Trump explained that if NATO member states “play fair” then America will be there, “100 percent” for member nations. The comments came after Farage asked the former President about his recent comments regarding the military umbrella and its delinquent member states.
“It was the most unfair thing and don’t forget, it’s more important to them than it is to us. We have an ocean between some problems, Trump remarked, adding: “They will take advantage. They took advantage of us on trade, they took advantage on the military.”
Farage pressed him: “So if they start to play fair, America’s there?” To which the former President responded: “Yes. 100 per cent.”
“NATO became strong because of me,” Trump said during the interview, explaining that his negotiating tactics – i.e. putting delinquent nations on blast publicly – had led to more money coming in over the past eight years.
“Now NATO has to treat the U.S. fairly because if it wasn’t for the United States, NATO wouldn’t even exist. They took advantage of us like most countries do,” Trump explained.
The full interview will be broadcast on GB News at 3pm EST.
