Donald Trump has issued a video statement on abortion and access to fertility treatments, saying, “The Republican party should always be on the side of the miracle of life, and the side of mothers, fathers, and their beautiful babies.”

Trump stressed that supporting in vitro fertilization (IVF) was an “important part” of supporting parents in their “quest for the ultimate joy in life,” praising the Alabama legislature for answering his call to protect IVF access following a controversial ruling by state judges.

On abortion, the former president celebrated the ending of Roe v. Wade, saying, “It must be remembered that the Democrats are the radical ones on this position because they support abortion up to and even beyond the ninth month.”

“The concept of having an abortion in the later months and even execution after birth — and that’s exactly what it is, the baby is born, the baby is executed after birth — is unacceptable, and almost everyone agrees with that,” he said.

Trump said he supports the states being allowed to decide on abortion limits, saying many will have different rules, but “at the end of the day, this is all about the will of the people.”
