A 16-year-old student, Christian McGhee, was suspended from Central Davidson High School in Lexington, North Carolina, after using the term “illegal alien” during class.
The incident, popularized by Libs of TikTok, unfolded after a teacher used the term “alien” in an assignment. McGhee, according to local media, queried whether the teacher was referring to “space aliens or illegal aliens without green cards.”
This resulted in a male student taking “offense” and attempting to instigate a fight. McGhee’s “words were deemed by administrative staff to be offensive and disrespectful to classmates who are Hispanic,” and he was suspended.
“Because of his question, our son was disciplined and given THREE days OUT of school suspension for ‘racism,'” complained the student’s mother, Leah.
“He is devastated and concerned that the racism label on his school record will harm his future goal of receiving a track scholarship. We are concerned that he will fall behind in his classes due to being absent for three consecutive days.”
She noted the term is used in “federal code” and “heard frequently on many news broadcasts.”
During the latest State of the Union address, President Joe Biden referred to Laken Riley being “killed by an illegal.” Some in his party, including Nancy Pelosi, admonished him for the remark, saying he should have called Riley’s alleged murderer “undocumented.”
This is Christian. He’s a 16-year-old student in @CDHSSPARTANS.
He was suspended for 3 days after using the term “illegal alien” in an English assignment because it’s “offensive” and “disrespectful.” Now his record could be damaged.
