The official college affiliate of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has declared its solidarity with the pro-Hamas demonstrators on college campuses across the country. Bucking the Biden government’s attempt to appease both sides of the Israel-Hamas conflict, the College Democrats of America (CDA) stated: “This past week, we witnessed heroic actions on the part of students around the country to protest and sit in for an end to the war in Palestine and the release of the hostages.”
“Since the beginning of this conflict, College Democrats and students from every walk of life have had the moral clarity to see this war for what it is: destructive, genocidal, and unjust,” the CDA statement continued. The College Democrats went on to denounce government officials, lawmakers, and “MAGA Republicans” who they say have labeled the pro-Hamas protests as “hateful.”
The College Democrats also criticized Joe Biden and his 2024 presidential campaign. While emphasizing that they remain committed to putting Biden back in the White House, the CDA statement noted they “reserve the right to criticize our own party when it fails to represent youth voices.” The National Pulse has previously reported that Biden and his re-election effort have seen plummeting support among young voters.
“The White House has taken the mistaken route of a bear hug strategy for Netanyahu and a cold shoulder strategy for its own base and all Americans who want to see an end to this war,” the College Democrats said. They added: “Each day that Democrats fail to stand united for a permanent ceasefire, two-state solution, and recognition of a Palestinian state, more and more youth find themselves disillusioned with the party.”
Colleges and universities across the country have seen a wave of violent pro-Hamas protests in recent days. At Columbia University, the New York Police Department (NYPD) had to storm a university building seized by students — where several janitors had been taken hostage the night before.
