Happy President’s Day to the One That Didn’t Start Any Wars!

Today is Presidents’ Day in America. It is a celebration of President George Washington’s birthday, a celebrated federal holiday dating back some 145 years. And while Washington was born on February 22nd, it’s an occasion that can (and should) unite Americans of all stripes, though history buffs will be quick to remind you that “neither Congress nor the President has ever stipulated that the name of the holiday observed as Washington’s Birthday be changed to ‘President’s Day.’”

So Happy Washington’s Birthday, then!

This year, The National Pulse has chosen to mark the occasion by celebrating a living president who created unparalleled economic growth and, critically, kept America from any new wars under his presidency. It’s no small feat, given the weight of the military-industrial complex that bears down on anyone even thinking about an Oval Office run. Look how quickly Ron DeSantis caved on Ukraine or how hawkish Nikki Haley – who has already lived a relatively trigger-happy political existence – has become.

Think of the gridlock in your nation’s Capitol as a result of armaments and aid funding for a war begun by NATO expansionism and European Union neocolonialism. And consider the blood being shed in the Middle East as a result of weakness, both moral and military, as well as the regimes in Beijing and Tehran determined to bring those fights to Europe and the United States.

Yes, how quickly the world can change.

This is why this President’s Day – excuse us, Washington’s Birthday – we choose not just to celebrate many of America’s first presidents but the formative ones along the way but also the recent, and with any luck (and a lot of hard work), the one that’s due to return.

Happy President’s Day to the one who didn’t start the fire: Donald J. Trump.
