If President Trump wants a true believer, a consummate professional who knows how to speak on air yet remain fluid, affable, and free of stilted talking points, he should look no further than New York Young Republican Chairman Gavin Wax.
Wax, 30, has revitalized the New York Young Republican Club (NYYRC) after the institution fell into RINO disrepair. Now, he’s taking the qualities he learned along the way onto television networks to stump for Trump. And it’s top-tier.
The clip below, from Thursday, is a wonderful example of how MAGA voices should handle television interviews. And while Stuart Varney was not exactly hostile to Wax, the effortless eloquence and ability to squeeze all the critical points into such a short time frame is a masterclass for those trying to break into this medium.
Take it from me, someone who has done countless Fox, BBC, CNN, MSNBC, Al Jazeera, etc. interviews. This stuff isn’t easy. And it’s especially harder when people suspect you of “peddling a line” or “speaking to an audience of one.”
I’m rarely effusive about television interviews such as these. My love for the written word and hostility toward the camera is why I turn down almost all interviews myself nowadays. But watching Wax’s performance this morning made me grateful that someone so young, in a city like New York, can be so powerfully pro-Trump, and persuasive at the same time.
