Dem Candidate Insists on Recounts, Audits… But Only for the Race She Lost
Rita Hart, a Democratic House candidate, called for a recount in her district where she alleges “several recording errors critically changed the direction of the race.”
Hart, who lost the Iowa district to her Republican counterpart with a razor-thin margin of 6 votes, did not extend her call, for recounts and audits, however, to the presidential race.
In a video posted to Twitter, she outlines how she decided “to challenge the latest vote totals before the U.S. House of Representatives.”
“After looking into the options available to make sure all the votes are counted, it’s clear that the state of Iowa’s process does not provide the time necessary to complete a full review of all the votes that were legally cast,” she added.
The Trump campaign has made similar complaints, emphasizing the importance of “counting all the legal votes.”
She also alleges that the initial recount conducted by the state was unsatisfactory, stating “votes that still have not been counted and thousands of ballots that no person looked at” remained:
“My only priority is to make sure that every vote is accurately counted. Since election day, we have all watched as several recording errors critically changed the direction of the race. Throughout the recount, as more Iowans had their votes counted, the margin narrowed from just 47 votes down to a mere six. What we know is that in spite of the recount, there are votes that still have not been counted and thousands of ballots that no person looked at during the recount.”
The Trump campaign has met similar difficulties in its quest for recounts and machine audits.

“We can’t have a rushed process that leaves doubt in the voter’s minds,” she adds.
