India Bans Dozens Of Chinese Communist Party-Linked Apps

India has banned dozens of apps with ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

Among the 43 apps included in the ban are several from Alibaba, such as shopping platform AliExpress, workplace messaging tool DingTalk, and streaming site Taobao Live.

“This action was taken based on the inputs regarding these apps for engaging in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, security of state and public order,” India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said in a statement.
The move follows Indian banning TikTok and WeChat in June of 2020, and brings the total of Chinese Communist Party-linked apps banned by the country to over 200.
