The reelection campaign for President Joe Biden has hired Andy Crystal, who previously worked in research for “comedians” Jon Stewart and Hasan Minhaj, as Lauren Hitt, who most recently served as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) communications director.
“We’re excited to welcome Andy and Lauren to the already talented and fierce communications team working to reelect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris,” Michael Tyler, Biden’s communications director, said in a statement published by POLITICO on Saturday.
Concerns from Democratic operatives regarding the speed of campaign expansion, particularly in swing states, appear to have prompted this latest recruitment drive.
The news comes as thousands of far-leftists descend on Washington, D.C. to protest the Biden government’s approach to the Israel-Hamas war. The campaign has experienced several resignations and flare-ups as a result of the conflict, with staffers recently writing to their boss stating: “your administration’s response to Israel’s indiscriminate bombing in Gaza has been fundamentally antithetical to [our] values — and we believe it could cost you the 2024 election.”

Guerilla journalist Laura Loomer caught Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at his hotel in Iowa on Friday, after months of the presidential hopeful ducking her questions, often having her removed from his public events.
Loomer, a self-declared Trump supporter, has broken more stories about DeSantis, his operation, and his donor network than almost all corporate media outlets combined, in recent months.
“I got him as he was walking into his hotel, and he hid from me inside the hotel convenience store,” Loomer said. “His staff shoved me so that he could get away from me. But, I didn’t back down! Ron’s soul literally left his body when he saw me.”
In the video, below, Loomer asks DeSantis when he is going to drop out of the GOP primary and when he intends to endorse President Trump. She also quizzes him on his now infamous abandonment of Florida, leaving the stateto be run by Jeanette Nunez, who compared Donald Trump to the KKK.

Virginia’s first black Speaker of the House of Delegates, Don Scott, says Donald Trump should not be allowed on the Commonwealth’s primary ballot for the 2024 presidential election. However, Scott’s reason for wanting to bar Trump differs from his colleagues who have pursued ballot bans in other states.
Instead of citing the “insurrection clause” found in Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, Scott merely thinks Trump should be banned over ideology. In a recent interview, Scott called Trump “too extreme for Virginia,” adding “and he’ll continue to be.”
A convicted felon, Scott spent seven years in a federal prison on drug charges. In 2013, then-Gov. Bob McDonnell (R-VA) restored the voting rights for convicted felons who were deemed to be ‘non-violent’. This included Don Scott. After his 2002 release, Scott began practicing law, passing the Virginia Bar, and specializing in car accidents and product liability.
Scott was also arrested at a Denny’s restaurant in 1994 during his time at Louisiana State University. He had several thousand dollars in drug money on him at the time and was apprehended attempting to dispose of it in the restroom.
Shortly after this arrest, Scott was released, only to be arrested again several weeks later by federal agents at LSU. He later pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute crack cocaine.
The election of Don Scott as Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates marks a new low for the Democratic Party. Like Scott, several other state-level progressive Democrats have worked to bar Trump from their states’ primary ballots. Thus far only the efforts in Maine and Colorado have borne fruit, and the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to reverse these decisions in February.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Having teased an intervention in the GOP presidential primary on Thursday, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) announced the launch of his new, “Never Nikki” initiative on Friday morning.
“I’ve been watching the GOP Primary closely for a while now, and I like various aspects of several candidates – Republicans like President Trump, Governor DeSantis, and Vivek Ramaswamy. I’m interested in the ideas of some independents too, such as Bobby Kennedy. As I look over the field, I don’t think I yet have a first choice, but I do know one thing: count me in as #NeverNikki!’ Paul said.
“Based on her record and campaign, I don’t see how any thoughtful or informed libertarian or conservative should vote for Nikki Haley. If you agree, let your voice be heard. Go to http://nevernikki.net today so we can let her and everyone else know she doesn’t have your support. If you’re unsure, keep reading and following. Nikki Haley supports Biden and McConnell and the forever-war crowd on funding for the war in Ukraine.”
“Beyond the issues of endless wars, Nikki Haley’s lack of respect for freedom of speech is shocking to anyone who believes in the Constitution. Nikki Haley believes that all internet posters should be registered and verified. This flies in the face of a free American Republic whose founders wrote anonymously the Federalist Papers and routinely posted newspaper articles and pamphlets under Pseudonyms. Anyone who doesn’t fully believe in free speech or who wants endless wars has no business anywhere near the White House. Go to http://nevernikki.net to show you agree!”
While some on social media speculated about Paul, 61, making an endorsement for President Trump or Governor DeSantis, your faithful correspondents at The National Pulse were, as ever, better informed:
Paul’s repetition of “Never Nikki” as well as the web URL in statements this morning is a direct mockery of Haley’s debate tactic Wednesday night, where she began almost every answer by telling audience members to go to “DeSantis Lies”.
During her remarks, she took aim at key DeSantis and Paul ally Rep. Thomas Massie, even likening his record to that of the far-left “Squad” due to his rejection of dragging America further into Middle East conflicts.

Former President Donald Trump’s town hall on Fox News Wednesday night received double the audience of the CNN “debate” between Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis, which aired for twice the amount of time.
The two-hour catfight between Haley and DeSantis has been billed as the “battle for second place”, especially in the forthcoming Iowa caucuses. The event was critical for both candidates, though neither seemed to dominate on the night, with DeSantis steadier on policy, but Haley more relatable.
Meanwhile, Trump’s hour-long chat with Bret Baier, Martha McCallum, and Iowa voters pulled in twice as many viewers, also beating DeSantis and Haley’s respective town halls on Fox the two nights prior:

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is investigating potentially illegal payments the Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (RFK, Jr.) presidential campaign made to the candidate’s daughter-in-law, Amaryllis Fox Kennedy — a former CIA officer. Kennedy’s campaign is alleged to have paid Fox Kennedy $70,000 for administrative work over just four months.
In a letter to the Kennedy campaign, the FEC asked for documentation regarding the payment and proof the financial compensation was not inordinately above fair-market value. If the campaign is unable to produce the requested documentation and evidence, the FEC warned it would pursue legal action.
“Salary payments made to members of the candidate’s family constitute personal use of campaign funds unless the family member is providing bona fide services to the campaign,” the FEC informed the Kennedy campaign, adding: “If a family member is providing bona fide services to the campaign, any salary payment in excess of the fair market value of the services provided is personal use.”
Amaryllis Fox Kennedy served in an administrative role on RFK, Jr.’s presidential campaign from July to September of 2023. In October of last year, former Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) resigned as RFK, Jr.’s campaign manager, with Fox Kennedy subsequently taking over the role.
RFK, Jr., a politically liberal Democrat, abandoned his Democrat primary challenge to incumbent President Joe Biden in early October — opting for an independent bid for the presidency instead. While the scion of the Kennedy political dynasty has garnered substantial popularity in general election polls, he has only managed to secure ballot access in a single U.S. state — Utah — as of early January 2024.

A new poll of likely Iowa GOP caucus voters shows Florida Governor Ron DeSantis slumping into a distant third place, with just 13 percent of the vote. President Donald Trump retains a commanding 54 percent of overall support, with Nikki Haley now in second place with 20 percent.
When respondents were asked how they would vote without Christie, who has pitched himself as the ‘Never Trump’ candidate, Haley appeared to suck up all of his support, rising to 22 percent. This still leaves her 32 points behind Trump, but if the movement from Christie to Haley remains consistent across early voting states it could put her neck-and-neck with Trump in New Hampshire. Back in April, DeSantis had 30 percent, against Haley’s paltry five.
While Christie has claimed he is bowing out of the race to increase the chances of Trump losing the nomination, a hot mic caught him admitting that he has little faith in Haley before he announced he was quitting.
“She’s going to get smoked, you and I know it, she’s not up to this,” he said, adding that DeSantis had recently called him “petrified” about the state of the race.

Former President Donald Trump brushed off the constant “dictator” claims made against him by his political foes during Wednesday night’s Fox News Town Hall, stating, “I said I’m gonna be a dictator for one day, and we’re gonna do two things: The border, we’re gonna make it so tight you can’t get in… And the other is energy, we’re gonna drill, baby, drill.”
“After that, I’m not gonna be a dictator,” Trump continued. The former president made similar comments during a town hall last month, which were widely taken out of context and promoted by his opponents, including President Biden, as evidence that Trump intends to act as an actual dictator if elected again. In context, however, it appears that Trump’s definition of being a dictator is merely to use his constitutionally granted executive authority to address two serious issues — border security and energy security — that are greatly impacting Americans.
During the town hall, moderator Bret Baier also asked Trump if he would condemn political violence as never acceptable. “Of course,” Trump responded. “That’s right.”
Aired at the same time at a Ron DeSantis vs Nikki Haley debate on CNN, Trump’s town hall attracted rave reviews from online viewers. The debate for second place, however, was less palatable, with Haley and DeSantis mostly resorting to smear attempts against one another for just under two hours.

Presidential nomination drop-out Chris Christie appeared to be caught on a hot mic before his quitting speech on Wednesday night.
In the audio below, Christie can be heard lamenting his inability to connect with voters with his anti-Trump message – “they don’t wanna hear it” – as well as explaining that Nikki Haley is going “to get smoked” in the primary.
“She spent $16M so far… $59M by DeSantis, and we spent 12. I mean, who’s punching above their weight and who’s getting a return on their investment?” Christie said, bungling what was certain to be his attempt to endorse Haley through New Hampshire to have her run neck and neck against Trump.
“She’s going to get smoked, you and I know it, she’s not up to this,” he added, before going on to explain how Ron DeSantis had called him, describing the Florida Governor as “petrified.”

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie may drop out of the GOP presidential nomination race on Wednesday, just five days before the Iowa caucuses, according to reporter Mark Halperin. More information is expected at 5pm EST.
Halperin also said two sources told him Christie will not endorse another candidate at this time.
Christie entered the race in June of last year and ran as an avowedly anti-Trump candidate. He consistently performed poorly in national polls, trailing behind opponents Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley, and far behind frontrunner Donald Trump.
See the Editor’s Note, below, for more on why this is such a “game-changer”. No, really…
