“CORRECTION (Aug. 29, 2025, 8:05 a.m. ET): A previous version of this article used the wrong pronoun for the shooter. She used female pronouns,” read the correction notice, added to a report on the shooting. Previously, the report had correctly referred to Westman with male pronouns.

According to the shooter’s journal, he knew he was “not a woman,” expressing regret about his transition ahead of the attack. “I only keep [the long hair] because it is pretty much my last shred of being trans. I am tired of being trans, I wish I never brainwashed myself,” he wrote. “I regret being trans… I wish I was a girl I just know I cannot achieve that body with the technology we have today. I also can’t afford that.”

Westman also reportedly wrote about being drawn to anthropomorphic animals, or “furries,” writing, “I like feeling sexy and cute but my face never matches how I feel. I hate my face.”

“Maybe that’s why I like furries so much. You can give yourself a new body and face,” he added.

Westman fatally shot himself after his attack.

“Google removing Fox channels from YouTube TV would be a terrible outcome,” Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman Brendan Carr wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday evening.

OAN has been expanding its operations in 2025, including the completion of a new broadcast studio in California and the launch of The Matt Gaetz Show, hosted by former Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL). Versant CEO Mark Lazarus announced the change on Monday, emphasizing that the rebranding aligns with the network’s mission. Lazarus stated, “The peacock is synonymous with NBCUniversal, and it is a symbol they have decided to keep within the NBCU family.”

The transition, which will occur in the coming months, includes a new logo for MS NOW. While the peacock logo will be retired, the network will retain its recognizable red and blue color scheme. This decision follows earlier reports suggesting MSNBC would keep its name post-spin-off, which have now been corrected.

Other changes within MSNBC include leadership shifts, such as the departure of former president Rashida Jones and the appointment of Rebecca Kutler. Despite Greene’s critique, Fox News recently reported strong growth in viewership, with a 31 percent increase in its key 25–54 demographic between April and June, and a 25 percent rise in total audience numbers.

Though known as a strong ally of President Donald J. Trump, Greene has started to voice disagreements with him and the broader Republican Party on a number of issues, including artificial intelligence and U.S. foreign policy. The Georgia Republican recently questioned her place in the GOP, saying, “I don’t know if the Republican Party is leaving me, or if I’m kind of not relating to the Republican Party as much anymore.”

The article, authored by Khadeeja Safdar and Joe Palazzolo, described a birthday letter allegedly written by Trump for Epstein. The letter reportedly included a hand-drawn outline of a naked woman and was signed “Donald,” with the signature placed to resemble pubic hair. It concluded with the message: “A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday – and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

President Trump has dismissed the letter as “fake” and filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the Journal, its parent company, News Corp, owner Rupert Murdoch, and the reporters involved.
