Populists Win French Election 1st Round, But…

Marine Le Pen’s National Rally (RN) party has won the first round of France’s snap legislative elections, with the globalist Ensemble (Together) bloc formed around President Emmanuel Macron’s Renaissance party falling to third place. However, Macron’s globalists and the far-left New Popular Front (NFP) can still prevent the populists from taking government by allying ahead of the election’s second round on July 7.

RN won with a plurality rather than a majority of the popular vote, with 33.2 percent—slightly higher than the 31.37 percent RN secured in the recent European Parliament elections. The NFP placed second, with 28 percent, with Ensemble a distant third, with 20 percent.

“Democracy has spoken, and the French have put the RN and its allies at the top, practically wiping out the Macron camp,” said Le Pen, calling for “an absolute majority” in the second round so RN party president  Jordan Bardella “can be appointed Prime Minister in a week’s time.”

In the French system, a candidate must win over 50 percent of the vote in their electoral district to secure a National Assembly seat in the first round of legislative elections. The second round eliminates candidates who receive less than 12.5 percent of registered voter support. The candidate with the most votes among the remaining candidates wins.

WHAT NOW?

Historically, parties of the far left, center-left, and center-right hammer out district-level pacts to block the populist right at this stage. Jean-Luc Melenchon, de facto leader of the NFP, has said it is standing down in districts where it placed third to give Macron’s globalists a better chance of defeating the RN candidate. Macron has been less explicit about his intentions but also says, “Faced with the National Rally, it is time for a large, clearly democratic and republican rally for the second round.”

The election’s outcome hinges on whether first-round far-left voters and globalist voters are willing to back each other’s parties in the second round. Polling is mixed, with an Odoxa survey showing 41 percent of voters are willing to switch parties to block RN—but 47 percent are willing to switch parties to block NFP, and 44 percent are willing to switch parties to block Ensemble.

The behavior of voters for Les Republicains (the Republicans) could be critical. The so-called center-right party has traditionally sided with the left against RN, but party leader Eric Ciotti proposed a first-of-its-kind pact with Le Pen ahead of this election. This has been partially implemented despite party officials in the same mold as the Mitt Romney wing of the GOP deposing him in a chaotic process—which he contests—over the proposal.

If enough Republican voters switch to RN in the second round, the populists could eke out a slim majority.

WATCH: Farage’s ‘Massive, Trump-Style Rally’ a ‘Critical Moment’ for Populist-Nationalist Movement.

Raheem Kassam, Editor-in-Chief of The National Pulse, attended a “massive, Trump-style rally” for Nigel Farage and his Reform Party in Birmingham, England’s second city, over the weekend. Kassam, a former advisor to Farage, said the scale of the event was “incredible,” as “this sort of thing doesn’t really happen in England.”

“Before Nigel Farage and the Reform Party really threw their lot into this election cycle, it was sort of the same old uni-party stuff,” he explained. “Boring, from the far-left Labour Party. Boring, from the governing Conservative Party. And now you see, across the country, whether it’s in London, whether it’s in Clacton where Farage is standing, whether it’s here in Birmingham, whether it’s in the North [of England] in places like Sunderland, people are desperate for change.”

Kassam stressed that “critically,” voters are now “willing to do something about it; they’re willing to wear their politics on their sleeve.”

“This is a critical moment for the populist-nationalist movement all across the Western world,” he concluded, describing the Birmingham rally as “ground zero.”

Britain’s snap election takes place on July 4.

Deep State Declares War on Democracy in France.

Deep State officials, from diplomats and civil servants to state school teachers and state-funded doctors, are vowing to defy a new populist government if Marine Le Pen’s National Rally (RN) party wins the French snap elections.

The French right has failed to form a united front for the short-notice legislative elections on June 30 and July 7 in spectacular fashion, reducing their chances of winning an outright majority. However, RN is still projected to place first, with President Emmanuel Macron’s Renaissance party falling to third place behind a far-left coalition, meaning a populist government is possible.

Members of the 2.5 million-strong state bureaucracy threaten to defy an RN-led government’s policies. “I cannot execute the policies of the National Rally… It is the heir to Vichy, a party whose stock in trade is inciting hatred of foreigners,” said one anonymous prefect, a form of regional governor responsible for security and law and order.

Similarly, a group of 170 diplomats has publicly declared, “We diplomats cannot accept that a victory by the far right should weaken France and Europe while there is war,” suggesting they would undermine policies in opposition to the European Union (EU) and ongoing involvement in the war in Ukraine.

‘WE WILL NOT OBEY.’

School leaders and inspectors have been even more explicit, saying they “will not accept” RN policies on checking students’ migration status and implementing a patriotic curriculum. “In full conscience and taking responsibility, we will not obey,” reads a petition signed by thousands of educators.

Even judges are briefing the press they have “worries” about RN policies that would toughen sentences for illegal alien criminals.

National Rally does enjoy strong support among the national gendarmerie (paramilitary police), however, due to their strong stance against Antifa violence against officers and migrant crime.

Marine Le Pen’s 28-year-old party president, Jordan Bardella, would likely become Prime Minister following an RN victory. Emmanuel Macron should remain President until his second term expires in 2027.

DATA: Farage *Could* Win Up to 18 Seats in Parliament.

A newly released MRP poll predicts that Nigel Farage’s Reform Party could secure up to 18 seats in the upcoming UK general election on July 4.

Polling data suggests that the Labour Party, led by Sir Keir Starmer, is poised to achieve the largest majority in decades, potentially surpassing the 419-seat majority won by former Prime Minister Tony Blair in 1997.

Labour, which has dominated the polls throughout the election campaign, could capture as many as 450 seats in the House of Commons, marking the largest majority since 1931.

The current Conservative government may face significant losses, potentially retaining only 60 MPs, thereby allowing the Liberal Democrats to become the official opposition with an estimated 71 seats.

Several top Tory MPs, including Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, are likely to lose their seats to Labour candidates on July 4.

Electoral Calculus and Find Out Now conducted the survey, with Martin Baxter, founder of Electoral Calculus, labeling the projected result a “disaster” for the Tories.

Nigel Farage and Reform have seen increasing popularity among young voters in the UK, according to a YouGov poll that found the party more favoured among 18 to 24-year-olds than the Tories.

Farage himself has been engaged in a feud with former Tory Prime Minister Boris Johnson after Johnson accused Farage of being a “Putin-apologist” due to his remarks on the Ukraine conflict.

In Dover earlier this week, Farage emphasized Johnson’s previous statements blaming the European Union for the Ukraine-Russia crisis in 2016.

The EU is Taking Further Steps to Prolong the War in Ukraine.

The European Union (EU) has officially begun accession talks with Ukraine despite its ongoing war with Russia. A delegation from Ukraine will participate in an intergovernmental conference in Luxembourg to formally commence efforts to align Ukrainian laws and standards with those of the EU. Separately, Moldova, which applied for EU membership shortly after the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, will join in its own intergovernmental conference to initiate accession talks.

“Ukraine is returning to Europe,” President Volodymyr Zelensky declared after the EU agreed to initiate the talks.

Ukraine must harmonize its laws and standards across 35 critical areas with the EU, covering everything from the movement of goods to the judicial system. Approval from all 27 member states is required to either open or close each policy chapter.

Ukraine aims to achieve EU membership by 2030 but must first undertake extensive institutional and legal reforms, focusing particularly on anti-corruption measures. The country often ranks as the most corrupt in Europe. In recent months, the theft of money to pay for fortifications in the Kharkov (Kharkiv) region assisted in a significant Russian breakthrough.

The EU has exerted considerable influence in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia since 2014, during the Maidan coup. In May, Raheem Kassam, Editor-in-chief of The National Pulse, explained that the Maidan “was an act of war.”

Kassam also commented on recent developments, noting criticism among the Western media-political class of Reform Party leader Nigel Farage as “pro-Putin” due to his view the EU and NATO helped to instigate the war.

Kassam highlighted the “blackout” in British media with respect to criticism of Zelensky.

WATCH: UK’s Lord Cameron Lauds Lindsay Graham, Demands More Pressure on Trump Over Ukraine During PRANK Call!

Lord David Cameron, the British Foreign Secretary and former Prime Minister, was caught on camera urging a man he thought was a former Ukrainian prime minister to lobby U.S. Congressional Republicans and former President Donald J. Trump against negotiating a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia.

“The most important thing, if you have any connection to Trump—the most important thing to get across to Trump, is that the Putin of today is far more extreme than the one that you were dealing with at the time of Minsk,” Lord Cameron can be heard saying during the conversation with Russian pranksters.

The British Foreign Secretary added: “I think we have to convince Trump of this. Trump thinks there’s some easy deal to make. And that’s not the case because Putin wants so much more.”

Lord Cameron continued: “I think that Trump needs to understand that.”

UKRAINE LOBBYING CONGRESS.

Later in the conversation, Cameron again urges that Ukrainian officials leverage any contacts they have in the Republican Party to push for further aid and U.S. support against Russia. Lord Cameron specifically named Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who he described as “pro-Ukraine.” More importantly, the British Foreign Secretary said, “…we’ve got to try and work out which ones are on the margins and which ones can be convinced.” He concluded: “Because that will all have an impact.”

LORD CAMERON LIED?

The British Foreign Secretary appears to have been duped by Russian pranksters into believing he was conversing with former Ukrainian prime minister Petro Poroshenko. Lord Cameron’s conversation raises concerns regarding the British—a long-standing U.S. ally—encouraging former Ukranian officials to engage in foreign influence operations in Washington, D.C.

In April, Cameron denied meeting with U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson ahead of a pivotal Ukraine aid funding vote in Congress. The National Pulse reported at the time that Cameron acknowledged meeting with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and former President Trump but claimed he did not meet with Johnson regarding Ukraine. However, his unwitting conversation with the Russian prankers contradicts this claim. Lord Cameron appears to acknowledge speaking with Johnson, Trump, and Blinken.

Biden’s Ghostwriter, Who Deleted Recordings, May Be Next to Be Held in Contempt.

The House Judiciary Committee is preparing for a vote to hold Joe Biden’s ghostwriter, Mark Zwonitzer, in contempt of Congress. Two sources confirmed this move, beginning with a “markup” session on Thursday followed by a committee vote. This sets the stage for a full House vote.

In March, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, a Republican, subpoenaed Zwonitzer after he failed to provide requested documents. These documents include transcripts, audio, and video recordings of his interviews with Biden for his memoirs.

The Republican-drafted resolution cites special counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into Biden’s mishandling of classified documents. Hur’s report indicates Zwonitzer deleted interview recordings after learning of the investigation.

“The outside observer is going to look at this and say ‘Mark Zwonitzer, President Biden‘s friend, ghostwriter, collaborator learned of the special counsel’s investigation, saw this happening and then deleted all these audio recordings,’” one of Hur’s investigators said to Zwonitzer.

“I’m not going to say how much of the percentage it was of my motivation,” Zwonitzer replied.

Hur chose not to pursue charges against Biden or Zwonitzer.

House Republicans argue that Zwonitzer’s lack of full cooperation with the Judiciary Committee has impeded their investigation.

Previously, the House voted to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt for refusing to turn over audio of Biden’s interview with Hur. However, the Department of Justice, controlled by Garland and Biden, says it will not prosecute Garland for contempt.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) says she will force a vote on exercising Congress’s constitutional power of inherent contempt and directing the House Sergeant-at-Arms to arrest Garland.

Will The IRS Soon Have to Accept Bitcoin as Payment?

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is set to introduce legislation that would allow federal income tax payments to be made with Bitcoin. The bill aims to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, mandating the Treasury secretary to develop a plan for accepting Bitcoin as a form of tax payment.

In a recent interview, Gaetz emphasized the potential benefits of this move. “By enabling taxpayers to use Bitcoin for federal tax payments, we can promote innovation, increase efficiency, and offer more flexibility to American citizens,” he said. Gaetz added that this step would help the U.S. maintain its leadership in technological advancement by integrating digital currencies into the financial system.

The congressman, who recently attended the inauguration of El Salvador‘s President Nayib Bukele, noted the country’s adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender as a pivotal example. Gaetz is a close ally of former President Donald J. Trump, whose campaign recently began accepting cryptocurrency donations. Trump has criticized the Biden government for its regulatory stance on the crypto industry and has pledged to end what he calls the “war on crypto.”

The proposed legislation requires the Treasury to “prescribe” necessary regulations for accepting Bitcoin payments for “certain” federal taxes. It also calls for the immediate conversion of any received Bitcoin to its dollar equivalent at the end of each transaction. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) already mandates the reporting of transactions involving digital assets and taxation on crypto-related income or gains.

Several states, including New Jersey, Kentucky, and Colorado, have begun implementing their own crypto tax regulations, with Colorado even permitting cryptocurrency for tax payments.

States Restore ANTI-Mask Laws In Response To Violent Pro-Hamas Demos.

State legislatures are looking to reinstitute anti-mask laws after the measures were suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic. Lawmakers argue the laws need reinstituting to combat rising crime and violent attacks by pro-Hamas demonstrators on Jewish Americans.

In North Carolina earlier this month, the Republican legislature moved to reimpose a ban on masking in response to violent pro-Hamas protests on college campuses. Last week, Governor Roy Cooper (D-NC) vetoed the mask ban legislation, claiming it “removes protections and threatens criminal charges for people who want to protect their health by wearing a mask.” However, Republican legislators—who hold a three-fifths majority in both houses of the General Assembly—say they will overturn Cooper’s veto.

The National Pulse reported earlier this month that Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) is considering a partial ban on masks in the New York City subway system. Hochul’s move comes in response to public outcry regarding increasing crime in the city’s public transit network. During a news conference, the Democrat governor claimed she would “not tolerate individuals using masks to evade responsibility for criminal or threatening behavior.”

Hochul did not provide specific details about the prospective ban but said there would be exceptions for health, cultural, and religious reasons—meaning Muslims wearing face veils would be exempt. Critics of the state legislative actions re-enacting the mask bans include libertarian activists concerned about the impact on civil liberties and those still concerned about the pandemic and potential COVID-19 outbreaks.

The House Sergeant-at-Arms May Arrest Biden’s AG Merrick Garland

Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) says she’ll force a vote on directing the House Sergeant-at-Arms to arrest Joe Biden‘s Attorney General Merrick Garland for contempt of Congress this week. According to the Florida Republican, she intends to introduce a privileged resolution invoking Congress’s constitutional power of inherent contempt after the Biden Department of Justice (DOJ) said they would not pursue charges against Garland.

Two weeks ago, the Attorney General was held in contempt of Congress after refusing to hand over audio recordings of 81-year-old Joe Biden‘s interview sessions with DOJ special counsel Robert Hur regarding the mishandling of classified documents. Prior to the vote, Garland acknowledged that the transcripts of the interviews had been edited for clarity, raising the question of whether evidence of Biden’s cognitive decline had been altered.

“The only option to ensure compliance with our subpoena is to use our constitutional authority of inherent contempt,” Rep. Luna said. “In the next few days, I will call up my resolution holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in inherent contempt of Congress, and I look forward to each of you voting in favor of it.”

She added: “Our ability to legislate effectively and fulfill our constitutional duties is at stake. We must act now to protect the integrity and independence of the legislative branch.”

Meanwhile, Biden DOJ officials argued on June 14 that the contempt resolution does not preempt Joe Biden‘s assertion of executive privilege regarding the audio recordings. Additionally, at a hearing before the House contempt vote, Attorney General Garland argued: “Releasing the audio would chill cooperation with the department in future investigations and it could influence witnesses’ answers if they thought the audio of their law enforcement interviews would be broadcast to Congress and the public.”
