Global Times, a Chinese Communist Party-run media outlet, insisted that Democratic candidate Joe Biden winning the presidency would be “good news” for China, as the former veep “represents the US liberal pro-establishment elites” and is more “acceptable” and “reasonable” than President Trump.
The article, “For China, Biden More Predictable Than Trump, Sanders: Experts,” ran in the state-funded and controlled Global Times, a mouthpiece for the views of the Chinese Communist Party.
The article appeared to confirm the findings of a recent U.S. National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC) report concluding the Chinese Communist Party “prefers” Biden over President Trump in the upcoming election.
A registered
“foreign mission” in the U.S., the outlet noted Biden is “representing the US liberal pro-establishment elites,” despite the candidate’s repeated attempts to
bill himself as an advocate for the middle class.
But the Chinese Communist Party admittedly embraces Biden’s
status as a member of America’s political establishment.
Lü Xiang, a research fellow on U.S. studies at the Beijing-based Chinese Academy of Social Sciences quoted in the piece, insisted that if Biden were to win the presidential election “it could be good news” for the Chinese Communist Party.
“For China, [Biden] is more acceptable than Sanders who is radically against China in ideology and Trump who deals with China in a great power competition approach,” Lü continued. The Global Times continued to fawn over Biden, declaring the former veep “more predictable and reasonable in dealing with China-US relations” as compared to President Trump.
In other words, the Chinese Communist Party sees Biden as a defender of neoliberal economic policies and free trade – the guiding ideologies for trade deals that have
neutered America’s manufacturing base and
siphoned millions of American jobs.
What’s more, the Chinese Communist Party funded outlet emphasized yet another advantage of a Biden administration for the country: “China is more familiar with Biden.”
The article, a de facto endorsement of Biden, is one of many pro-Biden pieces emanating from Chinese state media outlets. It’s not hard to see why: the candidate has a nearly half-century record of exporting American jobs overseas while his family profited immensely billion-dollar deals with Chinese Communist Party owned enterprises.
