Rick Santorum Gets Surprisingly Warm Reception Defending Indiana at GWU

This is what we love about Rick Santorum, those of us who love the guy: While many GOP candidates (except Walker, Paul, and Perry) issued good statements of support for Indiana’s rather generic religious liberty bill, Rick took the opportunity to go toe-to-toe with college students on Indiana’s RFRA.

The College Fix reports a surprising good response to an exceedingly honest and vigorous defense of religious liberty:

Why would people be so upset that the court has to consider someone’s religious objections to doing certain things as a legitimate issue before the court in deciding what should be the resolution of this. Why is this causing people to say, ‘well, we’re never going to travel to Indiana’ or never—why? When nineteen other states have the exact same law right now and have had it for twenty plus years. And not in any of those states or any federal government has there been one case of discrimination that’s been applied by any court. In fact, I don’t even know if there’s been one suit tried.

I would call his performance “winsome,” except that expression makes me wince some.
