Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill Act’ Is Shuttering Abortionist Clinics.

PULSE POINTS

âť“WHAT HAPPENED: Five Planned Parenthood facilities in California are being shuttered due to federal budget cuts following the signing of President Donald J. Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Donald J. Trump, Planned Parenthood, California Governor Gavin Newsom (D), and California Democrats.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Announced Thursday, impacting clinics in Northern California and the Central Coast, including one in South San Francisco.

đź’¬KEY QUOTE: “This law is clearly a back-door ban on abortion in reproductive freedom states,” complained Planned Parenthood Mar Monte.

🎯IMPACT: The closures show federal Medicaid funding cuts for abortionists are yielding pro-life results.

IN FULL

Five Planned Parenthood facilities in Northern California are being forced to close as a result of President Donald J. Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which prevents federally funded state Medicaid programs from bankrolling abortionists.

According to local media, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte announced Thursday that five clinics across Northern California and the Central Coast, including one in South San Francisco, will be shuttered due to the federal Medicaid funding cuts. These closures follow the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act signed by Trump earlier this month, which eliminated Medicaid funding for medical care at organizations that abort babies.

“This law is clearly a back-door ban on abortion in reproductive freedom states,” Planned Parenthood Mar Monte complained in a statement released this week.

California, led by Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom and a Democrat-dominated state legislature, had positioned itself as a haven for abortion following the Supreme Court’s 2022 overturn of Roe v. Wade. The state invested over $200 million and passed more than a dozen laws to facilitate abortions, but the federal budget cuts have undercut that pro-abortion policy.

Federal funding had previously flowed to Planned Parenthood despite Hyde Amendment restrictions on using federal taxpayers’ money to abort babies, due to the organization’s insistence that it provided other services. However, Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act has significantly tightened this loophole, dealing a significant blow to Planned Parenthood’s operations.

Trump Admin Raises Concerns After Pro-Life Activist Fined Tens of Thousands for Violating Clinic ‘Buffer Zone.’

PULSE POINTS:

âť“What Happened: A pro-life activist was found guilty of violating a “buffer zone” outside an abortion clinic in Britain and received a two-year conditional discharge, along with the equivalent of tens of thousands of dollars in fines.

👥 Who’s Involved: Livia Tossici-Bolt, a retired medical scientist, Poole Magistrates’ Court, District Judge Orla Austin, the U.S. Department of State, and the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS).

📍 Where & When: Poole Magistrates’ Court in Bournemouth, England. The decision was announced on April 4 after incidents in March 2023.

💬 Key Quote: Livia Tossici-Bolt stated, “This is a dark day for Great Britain. I was not protesting and did not harass or obstruct anyone.”

⚠️ Impact: The case has raised concerns regarding freedom of expression, as highlighted by U.S. officials.

IN FULL:

A British judge has convicted a pro-life campaigner, Livia Tossici-Bolt, for breaching a “buffer zone” around an abortion clinic. The 64-year-old woman was handed a two-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay the equivalent of $25,700 toward court costs, alongside a $33,400 victim surcharge, for her actions outside the abortionist facility in March 2023. The so-called buffer zone, established by the municipal government, spans 10 streets.

District Judge Orla Austin emphasized the need to “balance” freedom of expression under the European Convention on Human Rights with the rights of women visiting abortionists. The court found Tossici-Bolt guilty of displaying a sign simply saying, “Here to talk, if you want.”

Tossici-Bolt expressed dismay over the ruling, saying, “This is a dark day for Great Britain. I was not protesting and did not harass or obstruct anyone.”

Her case caught the attention of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, & Labour (DRL). “We are monitoring her case. It is important that the UK respect and protect freedom of expression,” the bureau said.

The United Kingdom has some of the strictest laws in the Western world regarding abortion clinics. People have even been arrested and convicted for as little as silently praying in their heads near abortionists.

Last year, a poll of members of the British parliament revealed a majority wanted to decriminalize abortion all the way up to birth.

Planned Parenthood Chapter Faces IRS Complaint Over Alleged Harris Campaign Offer.

A chapter of the abortionist organization Planned Parenthood could face having its tax-exempt status stripped after it was revealed they allowed members of the Kamala Harris presidential campaign to use their premises as a workspace. The claims were made in a complaint submitted in December to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) by 40 Days for Life, a prominent pro-life organization. The complaint alleges “potentially prohibited political activities” that could affect Planned Parenthood Florida’s tax-exempt status.

In an interview, Shawn Carney, CEO of 40 Days for Life, stated that his organization has witnessed numerous violations by Planned Parenthood due to their presence at abortion facilities nationwide. Carney claimed the Sarasota office provided promotional materials and space for the Democratic campaign, an activity not permitted under the 501(c)(3) status.

Planned Parenthood Florida has not responded to the allegations. Carney noted the distribution of materials promoting events like “Tim Walz Tuesdays,” emphasizing it as a clear violation due to its exclusion of Republican candidates. The 42-page IRS complaint also criticizes Planned Parenthood’s deviation from permissible lobbying, highlighting instances of campaign staffers photographed entering the Sarasota facility.

Last summer, a separate complaint was filed by Carney’s group regarding a mobile abortion bus operated by Planned Parenthood, which was in proximity to the Democratic National Convention (DNC).

The complaint is just the latest case of potential wrongdoing by Planned Parenthood, which has also been accused of trading the corpses of aborted babies to the University of California San Diego (UCSD) in exchange for royalties from their research.

Veteran Convicted for Praying Silently Near Abortion Clinic.

A court has convicted a man for praying silently within the vicinity of an abortion clinic in Britain. Prosecutors argue he broke a law banning all praying, protesting, and demonstrating near facilities that abort babies. Adam Smith-Connor has been sentenced to a two-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £9,000 (~$11,700). He silently prayed outside an abortion clinic in Bournemouth, England, in November 2022.

Smith-Connor, a military veteran and physiotherapist, stood silently with his hands clasped together, praying for his unborn son, a victim of abortion 22 years prior. “Today, the court has decided that certain thoughts—silent thoughts—can be illegal in the United Kingdom,” he said of his conviction. “That cannot be right. All I did was pray to God, in the privacy of my own mind, and yet I stand convicted as a criminal?”

Previously, pro-life Christian activist Isabel Vaughan-Spruce was awarded compensation this year after police wrongfully detained her for silently praying near a Birmingham abortion clinic in late 2022. Christian groups have sounded alarms over laws that prohibit even silent prayer near abortion clinics. Groups have worked to overturn legislation and court rulings, arguing they violate freedom of religion.

British politicians appear adamant about enforcing and expanding bans on prayer near abortion clinics.

Bans on prayer within 150 meters (~492 feet) of clinics come into force by the end of October in England and Wales. The bans coincide with the Roman Catholic feast of All Souls’ Day, in which Catholics pray for the dead.

In Scotland, prayer is prohibited 200 meters (~656 feet) from abortion clinics. Christian and pro-life groups warn the law could also criminalize prayers in private homes within “no-prayer zones.”

Yes, Late Term Abortions Are Happening. No, Not Just in Extreme Cases.

Despite denials or attempts to minimize late-term abortions by some in the media and the Democratic Party, third-trimester abortions are taking place across the United States, a new op-ed warns. Emma Camp, the assistant editor at Reason magazine, writes in the Atlantic: “It’s true that third-trimester abortions are rare. But they do happen… Colorado, which is home to clinics that perform third-trimester abortions, recorded 137 third-trimester abortions in 2023.”

“That’s only one state—eight other states, plus Washington, D.C., have no restrictions on third-trimester abortions,” Camp notes, observing that just minutes from her own D.C. office, an abortionist clinic is offering abortions up to almost 32 weeks, while another in nearby Bethesda, Maryland, will kill unborn children up to 35 weeks. Thirty-seven weeks is considered full-term, and babies born as prematurely as 21 weeks can survive.

“Those who support such expansive abortion laws tend to argue that third-trimester abortions are the result of a devastating medical diagnosis. In many cases that’s true, but it is not always the situation. The D.C. clinic I mentioned above confirmed by phone that it performs abortions for any reason. Data on the reasons women have later abortions are also scarce. But when The Atlantic’s Elaine Godfrey interviewed a doctor who specializes in late abortions, he estimated that about half of his patients have healthy pregnancies. Of course, some of his patients are in serious distress for other reasons; some are victims of sexual assault, or are teenagers who didn’t realize they were pregnant. This leads to another logical flaw in how the pro-abortion-rights crowd tends to frame its argument.”

Camp is concerned that Democrats such as Kamala Harris and running mate Tim Walz tend to downplay or deny the fact that permissive abortion policies permit late terminations or emphasize their relative rarity as a means to dismiss people’s concerns, believing that a broad pro-abortion platform is vote-winning.

“The grim reality of later abortion is simply too much for most Americans to countenance—and reasonable policymakers should listen to them,” Camp urges, observing that “Most Americans believe that third-trimester abortions should be restricted.”

MINORITY VIEW.

Only 22 percent of Americans support late-term abortions, with just eight percent in favor of unrestricted access. Nevertheless, Camp writes, Democrats are reluctant to admit that Roe v. Wade made no demands on states to restrict late abortions.

Democrats have become increasingly pro-abortion in recent years. A mobile abortion clinic was even deployed at the Democratic National Convention this year.

Kamala Harris has falsely claimed that abortion bans killed a woman in Georgia on the campaign trail. However, the case she referenced saw a woman die due to complications from the use of an abortion pill, highlighting the dangers of abortion itself.

Chris Tomlinson contributed to this report.

Pro-life Activist Heather Idoni Faces Continued Mistreatment in Custody.

A pro-life activist arrested and prosecuted for breaking pro-abortion laws by the Biden-Harris Justice Department is reportedly being mistreated by federal officials in prison. Heather Idoni is alleged to have been physically abused and kept in solitary confinement.

Heather Idoni was convicted of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act and conspiracy charges, devised to stop protests such as Christian prayer vigils near abortionists’ clinics. She has been in custody since August 2023, with trials held in Washington, D.C., and Nashville, Tennessee. Another trial is pending in Detroit, Michigan.

Calvin Zastrow, a co-defendant in the Nashville case, highlighted Idoni’s difficulties during her detention. Idoni has reportedly been transferred between federal prisons frequently and experienced mistreatment in transit.

According to Zastrow, a U.S. Marshal tightened a chain around her waist, making it hard for her to breathe. He alleges she was threatened with worse treatment if she complained.

Congressman Chris Smith, a member of the Pro-life Caucus, has worked with the U.S. Marshals following complaints regarding Idoni’s mistreatment.

Idoni’s health concerns, including diabetes and a past stroke, have been compounded by her experiences in custody, where she was denied necessary medications until congressional intervention.

Congressman Chip Roy has called for the repeal of the FACE Act, criticizing its use against pro-life protesters.

Since the Biden-Harris government took control of the U.S., 24 FACE Act cases have been filed against 55 defendants, nearly all aimed at pro-life activists, despite numerous attacks on churches and pregnancy centers.

Former President Donald J. Trump criticized the federal government’s actions, urging the release of detained pro-life activists.

The Biden-Harris regime has also gone after traditionalist Catholics, with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) deploying informants in Catholic parishes in parts of the country.

Thought Crime: UK’s New Leftist Govt To Ban ‘Silent Prayer’ Near Abortion Clinics.

The United Kingdom Home Office under the new Labour government is considering banning silent prayer outside abortion clinics after the previous Conservative government already banned any form of protest against the killing of unborn children near the clinics.

Last year, MPs approved legislation to ban protests, including silent prayer, within 150 meters of clinics and hospitals providing abortion services. However, this measure has not yet been implemented.

Draft guidance published in December allowed silent prayer within the new “safe access zones” and permitted “consensual” communication, such as handing out leaflets or engaging in conversation.

Pro-abortion advocates are now looking to ban anyone from even trying to offer alternatives to women seeking an abortion in and around the clinics, which can include counseling or other forms of help.

Government sources did not specify which aspects of the draft guidance might be revised. All three Home Office ministers, including Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, had previously opposed allowing silent prayer within buffer zones.

The current guidance states that “silent prayer” is protected under the Human Rights Act 1998 and should not be deemed unlawful.

Jess Phillips, the safeguarding minister, confirmed earlier this month that the Government plans to implement safe access zones around abortion clinics “imminently.”

CATHOLICS UNDER FIRE.

Rachael Clarke of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service specifically targeted Roman Catholics who pray outside abortion clinics, stating those with rosary beads should be banned from being near clinics. She argued that such activities “are designed to influence women’s reproductive choices.”

Several pro-life activists have already been arrested for praying silently outside of abortion clinics in the UK, including Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, who was arrested last year in October.

Even Roman Catholic priests have been arrested for protesting abortion in the UK. Father Sean Gough was accused of intimidating people outside a clinic in Birmingham, but a judge later dropped charges against him last year.

CVS, Walgreens to Dispense Abortion Pill Mifepristone.

Two of the largest drugstore chains in the U.S. have announced their plans to dispense mifepristone — an abortion pill — in select states within weeks. CVS Health will begin providing the abortifacient at their pharmacies in Rhode Island and neighboring Massachusetts, with Walgreens rolling out its dispensing services in specific locations in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, California, and Illinois.

A spokesman for Walgreens said the decision to make mifepristone available in only a few states was to “ensure quality, safety, and privacy for our patients, providers, and team members.” A spokeswoman for CVS Health said the drug would be made available in additional states “where allowed by law, on a rolling basis.”

President Joe Biden called the companies’ announcements an “important milestone” in ensuring access to abortion. He encouraged other pharmacies to seek certification to offer the drug. The decision by CVS and Walgreens comes over a year after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) expanded the availability of abortion pills to include large pharmacy chains and mail-order companies.

The FDA first approved mifepristone in 2000 to terminate pregnancies up to 10 weeks, in combination with a secondary drug, misoprostol. The distribution of these drugs was — until recently — limited to specialized clinics and offices due to safety precautions. Presently, the U.S. Supreme Court is considering a challenge from conservative groups to reverse mifepristone’s approval or modify policies that facilitate its acquisition.

REJOICE! 137 ‘Abortion Clinics’ Closed in Just 2 Years.

One hundred and thirty seven abortion clinics were forced to close or halt their operations over the past two years in the United States, according to the Christian charity Operation Rescue.

A total of 88 clinics closed or halted operations in 2022, with another 49 following suit this year. Of the 49 clinics that either closed or halted operations this year, 51 percent were pill-only facilities, and 49 percent were surgical.

There are now 670 abortion clinics left in the country, representing a 69 percent reduction in the total number of facilities compared to 1991, in which there were well over 2,176 in operation.

“The overturn of Roe v. Wade is undoubtedly saving lives. And the enduring efforts of faithful Americans on the pro-life side are paying off and having a winning effect,” said Operation Rescue’s President Troy Newman.

“While the pro-life community has much to celebrate, the pro-death crowd continues to find methods of killing as many human beings as possible. The prayers and work involved in exposing the evil behind the Abortion Cartel is more important than ever!” Newman added.

As of late November, one in four babies that would have been aborted in the United States have been born as a direct result of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe. Since then, fourteen states are considered “abortion-free” by Operation Rescue, including Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia.
