It’s AOC’s Democratic Party Now, Data Shows.

PULSE POINTS:

What Happened: A recent survey reveals that many Democratic voters see Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) as the face of their party. The progressive lawmaker’s surging popularity among her party’s liberal base has led to speculation she could mount a presidential bid in 2028.

👥 Who’s Involved: Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democratic voters, Co/efficient survey respondents, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

📍 Where & When: The survey was fielded in the United States from May 7 to May 9, 2025, with the results publicized on May 15.

⚠️ Impact: The poll shows Ocasio-Cortez remains a polarizing figure, with strong support among Democrats but significant opposition from Republicans. Her high support among political progressives and the Democratic base is fueling speculation she could soon run for the U.S. Senate or even the White House.

IN FULL:

A new poll suggests many Democratic voters view far-left Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) as the party’s leading political figure. The Co/efficient survey, which included approximately 1,400 participants, showed that 26 percent of respondents identified Ocasio-Cortez as the “face of the Democratic Party.” An equal percentage of those surveyed stated that “no one” currently represents the party.

In recent months, Ocasio-Cortez—often referred to as AOC—has toured the country, holding political rallies with Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), a self-described democratic socialist. The rallies, part of the two far-left lawmakers’ Fighting Oligarchy Tour, have buoyed progressive voter support for Ocasio-Cortez, leading to speculation she could mount a primary challenge to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) or even seek the Democratic Party’s 2028 presidential nomination.

Additional polling data reflects Ocasio-Cortez’s popularity among Democrats. An AP/NORC poll found that 55 percent of Democratic respondents hold a favorable view of the congresswoman. In her home state of New York, a Data for Progress poll indicated that 75 percent of Democratic primary voters preferred her over other prominent figures, such as the 74-year-old Senator Chuck Schumer.

The progressive congresswoman’s strong stance against President Donald J. Trump and the Republican Party appears to resonate with liberal voters. Ocasio-Cortez has consistently used social media platforms and congressional hearings to criticize the Trump administration and Republican policies. However, Democratic Party leadership worries that the radical, far-left policy positions taken by the New York progressive lawmaker will alienate more moderate and centrist voters, viewed as key to retaking Congress and the White House.

Despite her popularity within the Democratic base, Ocasio-Cortez has not made significant moves to secure leadership roles on key House committees. Observers suggest this may be due to her polarizing status, which draws both fervent support from Democrats and sharp opposition from Republicans.

The National Pulse reported last month that statistician and polling analyst Nate Silver believes Ocasio-Cortez is a strong contender for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028, if she chooses to run.

AOC Eyes Schumer Ouster, 2028 Presidential Bid.

PULSE POINTS:

What Happened: Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is using a series of cross-country rallies with Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) to consolidate support among progressive Democrats ahead of a potential primary challenge against Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), or even a possible 2028 presidential run. The New York Congresswoman raised nearly $10 million in campaign cash during the first quarter of 2025.

👥 Who’s Involved: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Chuck Schumer, President Donald J. Trump, Democratic voters.

📍 Where & When: Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders kicked off their Fighting Oligarchy Tour in February with recent rallies in Colorado, California, and Arizona.

💬 Key Quote: “We need a Democratic Party that fights harder for us,” Rep. Ocasio-Cortez argued at a recent rally in Tempe, Arizona. “I want you to look at every level of office around and support Democrats who fight, because those are the ones who can actually win against Republicans.”

⚠️ Impact: The Fighting Oligarchy Tour has positioned Ocasio-Cortez, a radical progressive, as a leading anti-Trump voice in the Democratic Party, fueling speculation she may soon launch a primary challenge to Sen. Schumer or launch a 2028 presidential bid.

IN FULL:

Disaffected Democrats and political progressives are rallying around the far-left populist message espoused by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), fueling increasing speculation that the 35-year-old New York Democrat may mount a primary challenge to 74-year-old Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) or even launch a 2028 presidential bid. Since late February, Ocasio-Cortez—often referred to as AOC—has been holding large rallies across the country with Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) as part of the Fighting Oligarchy Tour, resulting in the progressive Congresswoman raising nearly $10 million in the first quarter of 2025.

In March, a Fighting Oligarchy Tour rally in Denver, Colorado, featuring AOC and Sanders, drew a reported 34,000 attendees—eclipsing the crowds drawn during Sen. Sanders’s previous two presidential campaigns and dwarfing all other Democratic Party events that month. Subsequently, an April rally in Los Angeles, California, drew an estimated 36,000 people. The rallies often feature calls for Rep. Ocasio-Cortez to primary Sen. Chuck Schumer. AOC and progressive Democrats contend he was too quick to cave to President Trump and Congressional Republicans on a government funding bill.

“We need a Democratic Party that fights harder for us,” Rep. Ocasio-Cortez argued at a recent rally in Tempe, Arizona. “I want you to look at every level of office around and support Democrats who fight, because those are the ones who can actually win against Republicans.”

While AOC’s cross-country tour and rallies with Sanders have energized the Democratic Party’s far-left progressive faction, more moderate party leaders worry that the New York Congresswoman’s radical message will alienate independent voters. However, absent any other standard bearers stepping forward and gaining traction, Ocasio-Cortez, with the backing of Sanders, appears to be quickly consolidating her position as one of the Democratic Party’s most vocal anti-Trump leaders.

Despite not having ruled out a potential 2028 bid for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, AOC is believed to be best positioned to challenge Schumer for his Senate seat. Several House Democrats have encouraged their progressive colleague to mount a primary campaign, with Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) stating, “I’ve already said it: Senate looks good.”

Dem Rep. Gerry Connolly to Retire Following Cancer Return.

PULSE POINTS:

What Happened: Representative Gerry Connolly (D-VA) announced that his cancer has returned, leading him to decide against seeking reelection. In addition, Connolly announced on Monday that he would be stepping down as the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee.

👥 Who’s Involved: Rep. Connolly, a Democrat from Virginia, who was the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee.

📍 Where & When: Connolly’s announcement came via social media on Monday, April 28.

💬 Key Quote: Connolly stated, “After grueling treatments, we’ve learned that the cancer, while initially beaten back, has now returned. I’ll do everything possible to continue to represent you and thank you for your grace.”

⚠️ Impact: Connolly will step away from his position as ranking member of the House Oversight Committee and will not run for office again, ending his 15-year congressional tenure.

IN FULL:

Representative Gerry Connolly (D-VA) announced he will be stepping down as the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee and will not seek re-election. The Virginia Democrat who has served for 15 years in Congress revealed in a social media post on Monday that his esophageal cancer has returned.

“After grueling treatments, we’ve learned that the cancer, while initially beaten back, has now returned,” Connolly wrote on X (formerly Twitter). The Democratic Congressman continued: “I’ll do everything possible to continue to represent you and thank you for your grace.”

“The sun is setting on my time in public service, and this will be my last term in Congress,” Connolly said, adding: “With no rancor and a full heart, I move into this final chapter full of pride in what we’ve accomplished together over 30 years.”

Connolly had initially revealed his battle with esophageal cancer in November 2024, undergoing treatments such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy. The Virginia Democrat’s national political journey began with his election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2008, serving the 11th district of Virginia for nine terms. Before his federal career, Connolly spent 14 years on the Fairfax Board of Supervisors.

Rep. Connolly is a noted foe of President Donald J. Trump and one of the more vocally partisan Democrats in the House of Representatives. During former President Joe Biden’s lawfare campaign against Trump, the Virginia Congressman pushed a proposal to rename a federal prison after Trump—a subtle reference to Democratic Party efforts to see the America First leader imprisoned.

In December 2024, Connolly defeated the far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for the ranking member seat on the House Oversight Committee. Now that he is stepping aside, the self-described New York “democratic socialist” may once again pursue the coveted committee seat.

Nate Silver Predicts AOC as Top Contender for 2028 Democratic Nomination.

PULSE POINTS:

What Happened: Statistician and election pollster Nate Silver says he believes that Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is a strong contender for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028, if she chooses to run. Silver, who founded the FiveThirtyEight opinion poll analysis website, notes that the progressive New York lawmaker and member of the far-left “Squad” coalition in Congress is polling in a strong position in a potential primary against Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and enjoys some of the highest net favorability among Democrats.

👥 Who’s Involved: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Nate Silver, Galen Druke, Kamala Harris, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

📍 Where & When: Silver made the observation in an April 16 post on his “Silver Bulletin” Substack; the prediction pertains to the Democratic primary in 2028.

💬 Key Quote: “Results! I thought I was gonna surprise everyone by taking AOC first, but Galen won at rock-paper-scissors and chose her first instead,” Silver wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) after hosting a mock 2028 Democratic presidential nomination draft with former FiveThirtyEight podcast host Galen Druke.

⚠️ Impact: An Ocasio-Cortez presidential candidacy would mark a significant shift leftward for the Democratic Party. The New York Congresswoman has a reputation as an unapologetic progressive with ties to the radical Democratic Socialists of America.

IN FULL:

In a Wednesday discussion about potential Democratic candidates for the 2028 presidential election, data analyst and political pollster Nate Silver suggested that Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) could emerge as a leading primary contender if she decides to seek the party’s presidential nomination in 2028. Silver and former FiveThirtyEight podcast host Galen Druke considered the implications of an Ocasio-Cortez candidacy while hosting a mock draft of potential Democratic presidential candidates on the “Silver Bulletin” Substack platform.

“I think there’s a lot of points in her favor at this very moment,” Druke said after picking Rep. Ocasio-Cortez as his first choice to win the Democratic Party presidential nomination in 2028, noting: “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has broad appeal across the Democratic Party.”

“I think equally important is the fact that she has very fervent support,” Druke explained, adding: “I think a lot of people are gonna run in 2028 and it’s going to be a contest for attention and getting those sort of people who might be in your boat to turn out and stay with you through thick and thin.”

“I agree with everything,” Silver replied, quipping: “That was going to be my f***ing first pick!”

While Silver agreed that Ocasio-Cortez would be a formidable candidate and well-positioned to win the party’s presidential nomination, he conceded that the national political environment could change before the 2028 election and cautioned he wasn’t confident she’s “sure to run.” Druke pushed back, noting the far-left progressive Congresswoman’s “Fighting Oligarchy Tour” with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), which is currently hosting rallies around the country.

Adding to the case that Ocasio-Cortez could win the Democratic Party’s presidential primary, Silver pointed to current election polling showing the Congresswoman with significant support in a hypothetical challenge against Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Silver argued that Ocasio-Cortez’s strong polling numbers add credence to the idea that she has broader appeal in the Democratic Party than previously thought, noting, “New York Democrats are actually a pretty moderate bloc.”

James Carville Slams David Hogg as ‘Contemptible Little Twerp’ Over Plan to Primary Democrat Incumbents.

PULSE POINTS:

What Happened: James Carville criticized David Hogg, describing him as a “contemptible little twerp” and suggesting the Democratic National Committee (DNC) should consider legal action against him over his decision to primary incumbent Democrat lawmakers.

👥 Who’s Involved: Democratic strategist James Carville, DNC Vice Chair and anti-gun rights activist David Hogg, Chris Cuomo, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

📍 Where & When: Carville’s comments were made during a NewsNation segment on Wednesday evening.

💬 Key Quote: “Why doesn’t somebody sue David Hogg? He’s an officer of the Democratic National Committee… I think it’s an outrage.”

⚠️ Impact: Carville’s comments reflect growing tensions within the Democratic Party concerning strategies and internal challenges, specifically targeting Hogg’s plan to contest incumbent Democrats.

IN FULL:

Democratic strategist James Carville is suggesting the party sue David Hogg, the newly elected vice chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), over his Leaders We Deserve group’s intention to use its $20 million war chest to support younger Democratic candidates running against incumbents. The long-time Clinton campaign aide, appearing Wednesday night on NewsNation with Chris Cuomo, argued Hogg’s move to back candidates in Democratic primaries goes against the responsibilities of Hogg’s role within the DNC.

“Why doesn’t somebody sue David Hogg? He’s an officer of the Democratic National Committee. He is the vice chairman of the Democrat National Committee, and he’s running against other Democrats,” Carville ranted, calling Hogg a “contemptible little twerp.” The infamous Democrat strategist—nicknamed the “Ragin’ Cajun”—told Cumo that Hogg, along with Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), is using the “MAGA playbook” to push “a purity test” that will only result in a “binary battle to the bottom” for the party.

“I would like to know, and you went to law school, does [Hogg] have a fiduciary duty to Democrats?” Carville asked Cuomo. “You have a fiduciary duty to your employer, which anybody can understand. He’s being paid to run against other Democrats. I think it’s an outrage.”

Notably, Hogg admitted when announcing his primary initiative, “This is going to anger a lot of people.” The National Pulse previously reported that the 25-year-old anti-gun rights activist refused to sign the DNC’s “neutrality policy” that bars officials from engaging in party infighting.

‘Cut His F***ing Head Off’ — AOC, Bernie Rallygoers Call for Trump’s Torture and Execution.

At a rally headlined by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), attendees unleashed a torrent of violent threats at President Donald J. Trump. Video footage captured the chaos as several individuals openly called for his torture and execution.

One rallygoer, brandishing a sign showing President Trump’s severed head, was unequivocal when a reporter asked if they were “calling for his death,” affirming: “Yes, I am. I believe it’s time the people straight cut his f***ing head off.”

Another in the throng proposed a grisly alternative, advocating for Trump to be strung up by his ankles from a lamppost. “The only good fascist is a dead fascist,” he declared, likening President Trump to Italian Fascist leader Benito Mussolini.

A third rallygoer insisted violence is now the only option. “It’s the only thing they’re going to listen to,” the attendee argued. “I feel like we’ve done the rallies… If violence is what we need to do, then that’s what we need to do.”

The rally, meant to energize progressive supporters, instead spotlighted a dark undercurrent of aggression on the political left. Last year, Trump was subject to two assassination attempts in Florida and Pennsylvania, the latter of which saw the America First leader shot in the ear, two of his supporters critically wounded, and a third, Corey Comperatore, murdered.

President Trump has said he believed the Democrats’ extreme rhetoric against him has inspired the attempts on his life, arguing, “I probably took a bullet to the head because of the things that they say about me. They talk about democracy; I’m a ‘threat to democracy.’ They’re the threat to democracy.”

First Shots of the Democrat Civil War.

The Democrat party is on the verge of mutiny after a group of left-wing Senators voted with Republicans to pass a Trump-endorsed spending bill over the weekend. The divide comes as the party is still struggling to regroup after its 2024 election loss.

Back up: On Saturday, ten Democrats, led by Chuck Schumer, gave Republicans the necessary votes in the Senate to pass a six-month spending package and avoid a government shutdown — despite weeks of slamming the bill.

Democrat Civil War: Writing about Democrats for the last four years under Joe Biden, one thing I always gave them credit for was showing a united front—at least publicly. That is no longer the case:

  • AOC: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez said there is a “deep sense of outrage and betrayal” and called the move “a huge slap in the face.”
  • Hakeem Jeffries: Schumer’s counterpart in the House threw shade at him in a statement saying “House Democrats will not be complicit” and repeatedly told reporters, “Next question” when asked about ousting the Senate Minority Leader.
  • Nancy Pelosi: The former Speaker said, “Democrat senators should listen to the women [female lawmakers opposing the bill]… this legislation only makes matters worse.”
  • Radio host ‘Charlamagne tha God’—who is a popular political voice on the left—said: “The Chuck Schumers of the world, the Hakeem Jeffries, they should all step down.”

AOC primary challenge: The backlash has led to whispers of having Rep. AOC run as a primary challenger against Schumer when his term ends in 2029.

  • When Rep. Jasmine Crocket—another young progressive Democrat—was asked by CNN about the prospect, she did not directly answer but remarked: “I definitely think that younger, fresher leadership may be something that many of us… may be looking for it, especially in the state of New York.”

What voters think: Two new polls illuminated how far the Democrat party has fallen in the eyes of American voters:

  • NBC News: 27% have a ‘positive’ view of Democrats—lowest in NBC history
  • CNN: 29% have a ‘favorable’ view of Democrats—lowest in CNN history

Democrat voters don’t see a clear leader: When Democrat voters were asked which leader “best reflects” the party’s “core values,” not a single name received more than 10% support.

  • Rep. AOC: 10%
  • Kamala Harris: 9%
  • Hakeem Jeffries: 6%
  • Barack Obama: 4%
  • Jasmine Crockett: 4%

Real talk from G: As I’ve said many times before, the Democrat Party is still punch-drunk from their loss in 2024. They have no strategy, no leaders, and no core values. Normally, I’d be inclined to say that a party civil war could be good for them—but in this case, it’s radical progressives who want guys in girls’ locker rooms versus legacy swamp rats who only care about their own power and money. A strong MAGA movement can take on whichever side emerges victorious.

AOC Acknowledges Rampant Insider Trading Among Congressional Democrats.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has told comedian and talk show host Jon Stewart there is rampant insider trading in Congress, including among members of her party. “There needs to be Democrats who walk the walk and talk the talk. There is an insane amount of hypocrisy, and the hypocrisy is what gets exploited to use the cynicism and wherever there’s a hypocritical window. For example, I think one of the biggest examples of this is insider trading in Congress,” she said.

Stewart said it was “crazy” how people in Congress behave, getting information on upcoming drugs, projects, and so on, “regulating the market [they are] trading on.”

“It’s so crazy… Like, people think that everyday people are stupid. I’m like, ‘Do you all really think that people don’t see this sh*t?’” Ocasio-Cortez said. “And then we’re supposed to act like money only corrupts Republicans? Give me a f***ing break.”

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has faced many allegations regarding stock trading, making a 65 percent return on her stock portfolio in 2023 and beating the S&P 500 by over 90 percent.

WATCH: AOC Staffer Assaults Reporter, Then She Lies on Camera About It.

A staffer for Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) repeatedly put his hands on and shoved independent journalist Nick Sortor as he tried to question the Democrat lawmaker on a woman being set on fire by a Guatemalan national who had entered the country illegally. Despite knowing the interaction is being filmed, Ocasio-Cortez proceeds to flagrantly lie on camera, claiming it was Sortor who “touched” her.

The interaction begins with the New York Congresswoman sarcastically waving in Sortor’s face and escalates from there. Subsequently, Ocasio-Cortez slips through a doorway in the basement of a Capitol office building. Her staffer attempts to block the independent journalist from continuing forward by stopping in the door frame. “Don’t touch me,” Sortor is heard saying on the video as the staffer collides with him.

“Hey, hey, hey, the stairs are slippery here,” Ocasio-Cortez’s staffer insists as they begin ascending steps to a second level, adding, “Watch yourself, buddy.”

At this point, Sortor is shoved against the wall towards the top of the steps. Consequently, he can heard shouting: “Dude, f***ing get your hands off me.” The staffer again insists: “You’re going to fall down the stairs, man!”

The video shows the two struggling briefly at the bottom of a second set of stairs, with Sortor again demanding the staffer stop touching him. As Ocasio-Cortez, her staffer, and Sortor reach the top of the second set of stairs, the Democratic Congresswoman puts her hand in Sortor’s face. She insists that he stop touching her—despite the video never showing any contact between the two. Her staffer then proceeds to forcefully shove Sorter away while the independent journalist exclaims, “Get off of me! What is wrong with you?”

Meanwhile, Ocasio-Cortez never does provide comment on the gruesome subway burning or the New York City migrant crisis.

WEIRD: AOC Really Wants Dudes in Her Bathroom.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is publicly defending Delaware Democrat Sarah McBride, the first openly transgender person elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, while criticizing a GOP-backed effort to restrict bathroom use in Congress and on federal property to the users corresponding biological sex.

The proposal, introduced by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), aims to prohibit transgenders from using restrooms that do not align with their biological sex on federal property. Ocasio-Cortez condemned the proposed restrictions in an interview on Wednesday.

The New York Democrat argued that the measures lack a practical means of enforcement and would create situations where women and girls could face invasive scrutiny over their gender identity. She accused Mace and her Republican colleagues of using the issue to fundraise rather than protect individuals, urging House members to reject the measure.

“It’s disgusting and everybody, no matter how you feel on this issue, should reject it completely,” she said. “What are they doing? They’re doing this so that Nancy Mace can make a buck and send a text and fundraise off of an email.”

“They’re not doing this to protect people; they’re endangering women, they’re endangering girls of all kinds, and everybody should reject it,” Ocasio-Cortez concluded.

Mace dismissed Ocasio-Cortez’s comments, rejecting the spurious claims that the proposal endangers women.

Meanwhile, Speaker Mike Johnson has announced single-sex facilities in House office buildings and the Capitol will be restricted to those of the appropriate biological sex. McBride says he will abide by this determination.
