Farage’s Trump-Inspired UK DOGE Finds Taxpayers Are Buying Netflix, Fast Food for Migrants.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Nigel Farage’s Reform Party has exposed taxpayer-funded spending on fast food, entertainment, and other luxuries for illegal immigrants.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The Reform Party, Kent County Council, and other municipal governments.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Findings from councils controlled by the Reform Party, published in 2025.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Illegal migrants get a free life of leisure whilst British families struggle.” – Nigel Farage

🎯IMPACT: Findings expose lavish, questionable spending on migrants and underscore the rising costs of the asylum system.

IN FULL

Local spending audits led by Reform Party officials in the United Kingdom have sparked fresh debate over taxpayer-funded support for asylum seekers, with allegations that public money is being used to buy migrants fast food, streaming services, and leisure activities.

Nigel Farage’s Trump-inspired municipal government efficiency team, known as the DOGE unit, has flagged excessive and mismanaged spending by councils on services for migrants, particularly those who entered the country illegally. The team, inspired by the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cost-cutting initiative, claims it has already identified the equivalent of over $51.6 million in savings by cutting “green initiatives.”

According to figures published in the British press, over $152,220 has been spent by councils on fast food purchases for migrants, including orders from Domino’s, McDonald’s, and Pizza Express—sometimes funded through education budgets. In addition, more than $12,900 went toward Netflix and Disney+ subscriptions. Recreational trips were also recorded, including visits to safari parks, circuses, and minigolf venues.

Spending by Kent County Council stood out in particular: it reportedly paid $208,074 to Amazon, $90,372 to British retailer Argos, and $14,846 to electrical goods and technology retailer Currys, with the items said to be for use by asylum seekers. Reform’s DOGE head Zia Yusuf criticised the expenditures, saying, “It’s clear that those who came to the country illegally are enjoying better lifestyles than many of the taxpayers who fund all this.”

The Migration Watch UK think tank also weighed in, with Chairman Alp Mehmet stating the findings highlight “hidden costs of the uncontrolled asylum system.”

In response, Kent County Council defended its spending, noting that much of the money went toward supporting supposed unaccompanied minors and young asylum seekers who are legally entitled to care under British law. Furnishing their accommodation and providing basic entertainment is intended to support their mental wellbeing and development.

The figures released by Reform only cover councils under the party’s control since this year’s municipal elections, suggesting that national totals may be significantly higher. A recent report by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) estimated that housing for asylum seekers alone cost taxpayers around $6.06 billion in 2023/24, with total spending on the asylum system reaching a record $6.94 billion that year.

The ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ Could Make Tens of Millions from Asylum Seekers.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald J. Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” will require asylum seekers to pay a $100 fee, which could generate millions of dollars.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, Republicans in Congress, asylum seekers.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The “One Big Beautiful Bill” was passed on July 1 in the Senate, and is now returning to the House of Representatives.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Massive tax cuts, especially no tax on tips and overtime. And most importantly, big money for border security. This is a big win for the American people,” Vice President J.D. Vance said of the bill.

🎯IMPACT: The new charge could generate millions of dollars in revenue for the U.S. government.

IN FULL

A new stipulation in the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” or OBBB, could generate millions of dollars from asylum seekers if it passes the House in its current form. The proposal, supported by President Donald J. Trump, includes a $100 fee for each asylum application. In 2024, the U.S. recorded 892,904 asylum applications. At $100 each, the federal government could collect nearly $90 million from applicants.

The original House of Representatives’ version of the bill, called the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, proposed a $1,000 asylum application fee, but the Senate reduced it to $100. The bill has now been returned to the House, which could potentially raise the fee again.

Additional charges include a $100 annual fee on pending asylum cases, $550 for an initial work permit, $250 for special immigrant juvenile status, and a $500 fee for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) applications. TPS offers refuge to those alleged to be facing danger in their home countries.

The Trump administration has already removed TPS for Venezuelan migrants and is seeking to end TPS for Haitians as well, paving the way for hundreds of thousands of deportations.

The bill includes $170 billion for immigration-related expenses, with $29.9 billion earmarked for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enforcement and $45 billion for detention centers. Notably, the asylum application fees would be no guarantee against deportation for illegitimate applicants.

Vice President J.D. Vance, who cast the tie-breaking vote to pass the OBBB in the Senate, said of the legislation, “Massive tax cuts, especially no tax on tips and overtime. And most importantly, big money for border security. This is a big win for the American people.”

Our Europe is without borders

This European Country Is Kicking Out Seniors to Accommodate Migrants.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The city of Bargteheide, Germany, decided to house asylum seekers in a senior citizens’ residential complex that was previously vacated under claims it was uninhabitable.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Mayor Gabriele Hettwer, Social Democrat council members Andreas Bäuerle and Jörg Rehder, Christian Democratic Union (CDU) council member Sven Meding, and former residents of the complex.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Bargteheide, Germany; ongoing decision-making with no specific timeframe given for the temporary use of the complex.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The costs for the removal of mold and other renovation measures are manageable.” – Mayor Gabriele Hettwer

🎯IMPACT: Elderly residents were forced to leave their homes, while the complex is now being prepared to accommodate asylum seekers, sparking criticism and debate among local officials and residents.

IN FULL

The German city of Bargteheide has reversed its supposed plans to demolish a senior citizens’ residential complex on Nelkenweg, instead opting to refurbish it to house asylum seekers. This decision comes after all residents were vacated under the claim that the building was uninhabitable. However, following an inspection, it was suddenly determined that only five of the units required renovation, while the rest could be used as-is.

Mayor Gabriele Hettwer defended the decision, stating, “The costs for the removal of mold and other renovation measures are manageable.” She added that the city was preparing for potential increases in migration and claimed that the use of the complex was temporary, though she declined to provide a specific timeframe. The complex will provide 104 places, far exceeding the 40 additional spaces needed, to accommodate future migrants.

The decision has drawn criticism, particularly from members of the leftist Social Democratic Party (SPD) parliamentary group, who supported the initial eviction of elderly residents on the grounds that the building was unfit for habitation.

Sven Meding, a council member for the notionally center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU), formerly led by Angela Merkel, dismissed the SPD’s concerns as politically motivated, stating, “I sometimes wonder if it’s election campaign again. Should we accommodate the refugees in tents? The apartments on Nelkenweg are well habitable.” However, this avoids addressing the fact that German seniors were previously evicted on the basis that they were supposedly not “well habitable.”

Former residents expressed their disappointment at being forced to leave their homes. Frieda Miller said, “I feel very comfortable here and have lived here for 20 years.” Another resident, Dagmar Pardubitzki, added, “The apartment is really well designed, everything can be reached from here, and there is also a lot of nature. I would like to stay here.” Despite their wishes, the city has moved forward with its plan to house asylum seekers in the complex instead, a move consistent with similar actions reported in other German cities.

Germany has long been the number one destination for asylum seekers in Europe, and the number of immigrant arrivals is rapidly changing the country’s demographics. As many as one-third of young adults in Germany now come from migration backgrounds.

This European Country Is Trying to Recruit Asylum Seekers as Police.

PULSE POINTS:

What Happened: Police in Ireland have reportedly been holding recruitment events in asylum seeker homes. The country’s leader denies any knowledge of these efforts.

👥 Who’s Involved: Irish police (Gardaí), Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Micheál Martin, asylum seekers, and Independent Ireland lawmaker Ken O’Flynn.

📍 Where & When: O’Flynn questioned the Irish leader on June 11, following the revelations days earlier.

💬 Key Quote:  “Some of these individuals may not be the vulnerable cases as often your government portrays. And yet, Gardaí were sent in and invited them to consider a career in Irish policing.” — Ken O’Flynn.

⚠️ Impact: The case is likely to greatly diminish trust in the Irish authorities amid growing unrest over rising mass migration.

IN FULL:

Police in Ireland have reportedly been trying to recruit new officers from asylum seeker homes full of illegal immigrants, although the country’s leader has denied authorizing the move. Ireland’s Taoiseach (Prime Minister), Micheál Martin, claimed he was surprised the Irish police, known as the Gardaí, have been trying to recruit in asylum homes.

Independent Ireland lawmaker Ken O’Flynn questioned the Irish leader over the allegations and demanded he explain why the Gardai were trying to recruit people who may have entered the country illegally, without passports or other documents. “Some of these individuals may not be the vulnerable cases as often your government portrays. And yet, Gardaí were sent in and invited them to consider a career in Irish policing,” O’Flynn said.

Taoiseach Martin claimed he was surprised by the recruitment drives, saying, “This is not government policy. But I will revert back to the deputy and ask for the communication to be sent to you. I’ll talk to the Minister of Justice in respect of this.”

Irish media reports that the police have been recruiting from asylum centres, known in Ireland as International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS) centers, since at least 2022. Garda Commissioner Drew Harris admitted that asylum seekers should not even be eligible to become police officers. However, those granted refugee status do qualify after having resided in Ireland for a certain number of years.

Ireland has been gripped by anti-mass migration sentiment as more and more asylum seekers have flooded into the small and relatively homogeneous country in recent years. In one case, the government wanted to settle hundreds of asylum seekers, most of them young men, in a town of just 165 people last year.

Mixed martial arts (MMA) superstar Conor McGregor has been a leading voice against mass migration in Ireland, calling on the public to actively “evaporate” properties that have been designated to house future migrant arrivals. McGregor is also looking to run for the Irish presidency, with a focus on halting mass migration into the country.

The Dutch Govt Has Collapsed Over Migration. Here’s Why…

PULSE POINTS:

What Happened: Geert Wilders, leader of the populist Freedom Party (PVV), withdrew his party from the governing coalition in the Netherlands, collapsing the government.

👥 Who’s Involved: Geert Wilders (PVV), Prime Minister Dick Schoof, center-right VVD leader Dilan Yesilgoz, Deputy Prime Minister Mona Keijzer of the  Farmer-Citizen Movement (BBB).

📍 Where & When: Netherlands, coalition collapsed after less than a year in office, starting July 2024.

💬 Key Quote: “No signature for our asylum plans. PVV leaves the coalition,” said Geert Wilders on X.

⚠️ Impact: Snap elections are expected, with asylum and immigration likely to dominate campaigns.

IN FULL:

The Dutch governing coalition has collapsed after populist leader Geert Wilders withdrew his Freedom Party (PVV) over disagreements on immigration policy. The coalition, which had been in power for less than a year, fell apart following Wilders’ demand for stricter asylum measures, including freezing applications and limiting chain migration, a.k.a “family reunification.”

Prime Minister Dick Schoof reportedly made a last-minute appeal to coalition leaders on Tuesday morning, but the meeting ended after just one minute when Wilders walked out. Wilders later posted on X, “No signature for our asylum plans. PVV leaves the coalition.”

The coalition, formed in July 2024 after lengthy negotiations, included Wilders’ PVV, the notionally conservative but largely liberal VVD, the upstart Farmers‘ Citizen Movement (BBB), and the marginally center-right New Social Contract.

VVD leader Dilan Yesilgoz called Wilders’s decision “super irresponsible,” while Deputy Prime Minister Mona Keijzer of the BBB accused Wilders of “betraying the Netherlands.” However, with PVV being the most successful party in the last Dutch election, many will argue it was incumbent on Wilders’s coalition partners to defer to him on his key issues of asylum and immigration.

The fallout has sparked speculation about snap elections, which could occur this autumn. Analysts suggest that Wilders will likely center his campaign on immigration issues. Wilders and the PVV came first in last year’s national elections, and polling suggests that the PVV remains ahead.

Prime Minister Schoof is expected to offer the cabinet’s resignation to King Willem-Alexander. While Schoof could attempt to lead a minority government, forming alliances with left-wing opposition parties is seen as unlikely. Leftist Labour-Green alliance leader Frans Timmermans, a former top European Union (EU) official, has already called for fresh elections.

Stabbing Sprees by Migrants Leave 8 Injured, Including 11-Year-Old Girl.

PULSE POINTS:

What Happened: Two separate stabbings in Germany left eight people injured, including an 11-year-old girl. Migrants are believed to be the perpetrators.

👥 Who’s Involved: A 35-year-old Syrian asylum seeker is suspected in a Bielefeld attack, while a 46-year-old from Kosovo has been arrested in a Halle incident.

📍 Where & When: The first attack occurred the morning of May 18 in Bielefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, and the second on the same day outside an apartment block in Halle, central Germany.

💬 Key Quote:  “It’s high time for a clear turnaround: properly protect borders, consistently deport illegal immigrants, and finally make the security of its own population a priority again. Germany is on a knife-edge. Therefore: remigration now!” — Marc Bernhard, Alternative for Germany (AfD) MP.

⚠️ Impact: The incidents highlight ongoing concerns over security and migration policy in the European Union (EU), with countries like Germany facing increasing violence linked to migrants.

IN FULL:

Two separate stabbing attacks in Germany over the weekend left eight people injured, including an 11-year-old girl, with migrants reportedly identified as the suspects in both incidents.

In the first attack, five soccer fans, aged between 22 and 27, were injured outside a bar in Bielefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, on the morning of May 18. The assailant, armed with a knife and a cane sword, reportedly attacked the group indiscriminately. Four of the victims sustained serious injuries but managed to fight back, forcing the attacker to flee.

Police later discovered a bag left behind by the suspect containing multiple knives, a liquid smelling of gasoline, and identification documents indicating Syrian nationality. The 35-year-old suspect, who entered Europe via Turkey in 2023 and applied for asylum in Germany, was arrested Monday in Heiligenhaus near Düsseldorf. Authorities are investigating the case as a potential terror attack.

In a separate incident on May 18 in Halle, central Germany, three people, including an 11-year-old girl, were injured in a stabbing outside an apartment block. Witnesses reported that the violence stemmed from a dispute over children making noise. A 46-year-old migrant from Kosovo has been arrested in connection with the attack.

Responding to the incidents, Marc Bernhard, a member of Germany’s Bundestag (federal legislature) for the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, criticized the government’s handling of mass migration, stating, “Even after 10 years of bloodshed, people are still talking about ‘isolated cases.’”

He added, “It’s high time for a clear turnaround: properly protect borders, consistently deport illegal immigrants, and finally make the security of [Germany’s] own population a priority again. Germany is on a knife-edge. Therefore: remigration now!”

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, of the notionally center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU), formerly led by Angela Merkel, had previously pledged to implement stricter immigration controls, including shutting down illegal border crossings. However, he has faced resistance from neighboring countries like Poland and has yet to deliver on promises of increased deportations.

The two attacks are part of a broader pattern of violent incidents involving migrants in Germany, with similar cases reported in cities such as Magdeburg, Munich, and Solingen in recent years.

Cost of Housing Migrants Set to Triple.

PULSE POINTS:

What Happened: The cost of accommodating asylum seekers in the United Kingdom is now projected to be $20.3 billion, triple the initial $6 billion estimate by the Home Office.

👥 Who’s Involved: The British government, the National Audit Office (NAO), Serco, Mears, Clearsprings, and Britain’s Home Office.

📍 Where & When: United Kingdom, contracts signed in 2019.

💬 Key Quote: A Home Office spokesman blamed the prior Conservative (Tory) government for “disastrous contracts that were wasting millions in taxpayer money.”

⚠️ Impact: Rising costs are attributed to an increase in asylum seekers housed in hotels, with significant profits for private providers and ongoing challenges for the government.

IN FULL:

According to a report by Britain’s National Audit Office (NAO), the financial burden on taxpayers for accommodating asylum seekers is now expected to reach the equivalent of $20.3 billion. This figure is a significant increase from the $6 billion initially projected by the Home Office—roughly equivalent to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)—when contracts were signed in 2019.

The NAO report highlights that the rising costs are largely driven by the increased number of asylum seekers in hotels. The number of asylum seekers in hotels rose from approximately 47,000 in December 2019 to an anticipated 110,000 by December 2024. Despite hotels accommodating around a third of the asylum seekers, they consume three-quarters of the budget for accommodation.

Contracts were originally signed with three private companies—Serco, Mears, and Clearsprings—to manage asylum accommodation. Between September 2019 and August 2024, these companies reportedly made a combined profit of $511 million. Clearsprings, in particular, saw its contract in the south of England balloon from $0.9 billion to an expected $9.3 billion.

The Home Office, now under the control of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour Party, has faced criticism for its handling of the situation. A spokesman pointed fingers at the previous Conservative government for what they termed “disastrous contracts,” which have led to a significant waste of taxpayer money.

A senior Home Office source attributed the rising accommodation costs to the increase in people crossing the English Channel on small boats, a situation exacerbated by people-smuggling gangs. Despite the surge of migrants crossing the English Channel in recent years, and the migrants plainly not being in danger in France and the other Western European countries they launch from, a report from last year indicated very few have been deported. For instance, as little as 0.5 percent of those who entered illegally in 2023 were ever deported.

Rapes Have Tripled in This European Country Amid Migration Surge.

PULSE POINTS:

What Happened: There has been a significant rise in sexual violence in Spain, with 5,206 rapes reported in 2024. This comes alongside a rise in illegal immigration, with the country accounting for around a fifth of all asylum claims in the European Union (EU) in 2024, with a large proportion of sexual predators being foreign nationals.

👥 Who’s Involved: The Spanish Ministry of the Interior, law enforcement, migrants, and campaigners like Elena Ramallo.

📍 Where & When: Spain, with data spanning from 2018 to 2024.

💬 Key Quote: “Not a single reference in the entire article to the identity of the aggressors,” Elena Ramallo criticized, in reference to a report on the figures by El Español which avoided referencing the migrants’ contribution to the rape rise.

⚠️ Impact: Specialized police units are overwhelmed, and there is increasing public pressure on the government for a stronger response.

IN FULL:

Socialist-led Spain is grappling with a surge in sexual violence, as official statistics from the Ministry of the Interior reveal a record 5,206 rapes in 2024. This alarming figure marks nearly a threefold increase from the 1,878 cases reported in 2019, with an average of 14 rapes occurring daily across the nation. The upward trend has persisted since 2018, briefly dipping only in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions on people’s movements.

Regions such as Catalonia and Andalusia and the capital of Madrid report the highest numbers, though all areas of Spain have seen increases. Disturbingly, cases involving minors, assaults linked to nightlife, and group attacks are also on the rise. This figures translate to a woman being raped approximately every hour and 45 minutes.

In Catalonia, a significant proportion of those convicted of rape are foreigners, comprising 91 percent of offenders, despite immigrants making up only 17 percent of the population. When considering both sexual assault and rape, 64.2 percent of inmates are foreign nationals. This demographic detail has sparked debate, with campaigners like Elena Ramallo criticizing media reports for not addressing the identity of aggressors.

The rapid increase in sexual violence has stretched the resources of specialized police units, such as the Family and Women’s Care Units (UFAM) of the National Police and the Women-Minor Teams (EMUME) of the Civil Guard. These units report being understaffed and overworked, handling a significantly higher workload than a decade ago without adequate support.

Government officials claim the rise is partly due to more women coming forward, avoiding the role of mass migration in the upward trend. Spain received more asylum claims than any other European Union (EU) member state bar Germany in 2024, although Germany is roughly 60 percent larger than Spain by population. Venezuelans are the leading nationality among Spanish claimants.

Notably, Germany also suffers from an extremely high migrant crime rate.

Europe Taking Most Asylum Seekers Since 2017.

PULSE POINTS:

What Happened: Europe saw the largest number of accepted asylum claims since 2017 last year.

👥 Who’s Involved: European Union (EU) member states, asylum seekers.

📍 Where & When: Eurostat announced the 2024 figures on April 25.

💬 Key Quote:  “This is the highest value since the peaks recorded after the refugee crisis related to the war in Syria in 2016 and 2017.” — Eurostat.

⚠️ Impact: The stats come as Europe supposedly tries to clamp down on illegal migration, proving that the issue remains unresolved.

IN FULL:

Europe accepted more asylum applications from migrants in 2024 than in any year since 2017, totaling over 430,000 migrants. The European statistics agency Eurostat announced the numbers this week, noting that half of the migrants came from either Syria or Afghanistan.

“This is the highest value since the peaks recorded after the refugee crisis related to the war in Syria in 2016 and 2017,” Eurostat said in a press release.

Germany saw the largest number of accepted asylum claims, making up 34.4 percent of the overall number. Over 185,000 migrants were given full refugee status, while over 169,000 were given subsidiary protection so they could not be deported. Nearly 14,000 migrants entered Europe as part of a United Nations (UN) program, with nearly half ending up in Germany.

Close to half of those who applied for asylum in 2024 were rejected, with Portugal accepting only ten asylum seekers last year, the highest rejection rate in Europe at 99.2 percent. Germany, on he other hand, rejected just 46.6 percent of applications.

Notably, even rejected asylum seekers are often not deported, even if they are officially served deportation orders.

This year, the European Commission, the EU’s unelected central executive, reported that France may overtake Germany as the most popular destination for asylum seekers. France recorded over 40,000 asylum applications in the first three months of this year, compared to just over 37,000 for Germany.

In recent years, many European Union member states have switched to focusing on controlling illegal migration and prioritizing the deportation of those who have no right to stay, as establishment political parties seek to head off electoral advances by anti-mass migration populists. Sweden is offering as much as $34,000 to migrants who wish to go back to their home countries.

Despite the change, the 2024 statistics show the number of illegal immigrants flowing across the borders of European member states remains historically high.

American Citizen Convicted Over Self-Defense Stabbing of Migrant Who Groped Her.

PULSE POINTS:

What Happened: A 20-year-old German-American woman has been convicted in Germany after she stabbed a 64-year-old Eritrean asylum seeker who groped her at a railway station in 2024.

👥 Who’s Involved: A 20-year-old German woman with U.S. citizenship, a 64-year-old Eritrean asylum seeker, Alem Tekeste, and German prosecutors.

📍 Where & When: A 2024 stabbing incident at a Kaiserslautern, Germany, railway station; the trial began earlier this month.

💬 Key Quote: “If you are no longer in an emergency situation, you become the attacker yourself,” the German judge insisted, despite evidence that the migrant man had continued to assault the woman before she stabbed him.

⚠️ Impact: The 20-year-old German-American woman, identified only as Fallyn B, received a two-year suspended sentence after being convicted of manslaughter.

IN FULL:

A 20-year-old German-American dual national, identified in court documents only as Fallyn B, has been convicted of manslaughter in a German court, stemming from a 2024 incident where she fatally stabbed a 64-year-old Eritrean asylum seeker after he groped her buttocks in a Kaiserslautern, Germany, railway station. While attorneys representing the woman maintained that she merely wished to keep the Eritrean man—identified as Alem Tekeste—at a distance, German prosecutors insisted that she could have avoided killing the migrant during the incident last summer. Notably, defendants do not have a right to a trial by a jury of their peers in Germany, with judges determining guilt.

The conviction marks a concerning turn for criminal justice in the European country, which has seen a spike in violent crime perpetrated by migrants and asylum seekers. Notably, her defense was predicated on the fact that not only did Tekeste grope her on an escalator in the station—an act the court and prosecutors acknowledged was criminal—but that he proceeded to follow her and attempted to grab her buttocks again, leading to the fatal stabbing. This recollection of events was confirmed by security camera footage and eyewitness testimony that demonstrated Tekeste did indeed follow the woman and attempted to grope her again as she walked through an underpass. It was during this second groping attempt that the woman produced a pocket knife that she used to defend herself, stabbing the African migrant fatally in the chest.

Despite the concrete evidence confirming her actions were in self-defense, German prosecutors insisted that Tekeste had retreated after the knife was produced and that the woman proceeded to pursue him, escalating the confrontation before Tekeste reached for the woman’s knife, resulting in her stabbing him. Notably, the woman fled the station immediately after the stabbing, texting a friend: “I think I just killed someone.” She proceeded to promptly turn herself in, indicating that she had no intention of killing the man.

The judge presiding over the trial bizarrely excoriated the German-American woman, telling her at the sentencing: “If you are no longer in an emergency situation, you become the attacker yourself.” However, even this claim was called into question during the trial by the defense, producing an eyewitness who testified that the woman screamed “Don’t touch me!” during the attack. Even more concerning, the court ignored Tekeste’s past criminal history. The migrant was fined at least four times in 2024 for sexual harassment and was a known criminal figure to local authorities.

The manslaughter conviction comes with a two-year suspended sentence, meaning she will serve no jail time if she completes 500 hours of community service and attends a mandatory drug counseling program.
