The Democratic Party’s lawfare efforts against President Donald J. Trump during his first two months in the White House have reached unprecedented levels. In his first two months in office, President Trump has faced over 100 legal challenges to his administration’s policies, more than double that faced by any other president at the same point in their term.
According to data published by Just Security that tracks court filings against the Trump administration, the total number of legal actions taken since the America First leader was inaugurated on January 20, 2025, has reached 119. Nearly 20 legal actions were filed against the Trump White House during President Trump’s first week in office.
Meanwhile, Josh Hammer—senior counsel at the Article III Project—contends the scale of the lawfare being waged against the Trump White House—abetted by far-leftfederal judges—is tantamount to a “judicial insurrection.” Hammer argued during a recent appearance on Stephen K. Bannon’s War Room that the Democratic lawfare campaign is a direct threat to the separation of powers, gravely undermining the constitutional authority of the executive branch.
JUDICIAL INSURRECTION.
“What we’re seeing is not just judicial activism… I mean, this is a full-on judicial insurrection, going back to the very first days of this administration in power,” Hammer told Bannon. “The first Trump administration from 2017 to 2021 faced, by my count, I believe, it was 65 so-called nationwide injunctions, which, by the way, is more than the first 44 presidents of the United States combined, literally in all of American history, faced there.”
Hammer added: “Whether it’s a judge in Washington State, or Ohio, or Washington, D.C., or Florida, or Hawaii, the notion that you can issue a TRO, a temporary restraining order, and thereby try to bring a federal executive branch policy and executive order to a halt, it’s completely anathema. It’s bat-crap crazy. That’s not how the separation of powers works.”

President Donald J. Trump has denounced the European Union (EU) as “one of the most hostile and abusive taxing and tariffing authorities in the World,” threatening the bloc with crushing tariffs if it does not lift “a nasty 50% Tariff on Whisky.”
“If this Tariff is not removed immediately, the U.S. will shortly place a 200% Tariff on all WINES, CHAMPAGNES, & ALCOHOLIC PRODUCTS COMING OUT OF FRANCE AND OTHER E.U. REPRESENTED COUNTRIES,” the America First leaderwarned.
The EU recently implemented tariffs on $28 billion worth of U.S. goods in reaction to President Trump’s increased tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum imports. The EU’s tariffs target goods such as bourbon, jeans, and motorcycles—and appear designed to harm globally popular American brands.
Tariffs on metal imports to the U.S. were not targeted at the EU in particular but took effect globally, imposing a 25 percent levy on various metal items. Previously, tariffs in several areas have often been unbalanced in the EU’s favor—with the bloc imposing 10 percent tariffs on American cars while the U.S. imposed only 2.5 percent tariffs on European cars, for instance.
The Trump trade strategy has received support from the U.S. steel industry, with expectations of job creation and investments.

Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian Columbia University graduate and U.S. permanent resident now detained in a federal jail in Louisiana following his arrest by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on Saturday night, previously worked with the British government. Khalil emerged as a key figure during the anti-Israel campus encampment in the spring of 2024, serving as a lead negotiator for student protesters. His arrest over the weekend prompted a federal judge to issue a temporary block on his deportation, leaving his fate hanging in the balance as legal proceedings unfold.
President Donald J. Trump branded Khalil a “Radical Foreign Pro-Hamas Student” on Monday, hailing his arrest as “the first of many to come” for foreign agitators. “We know there are more students at Columbia and other Universities across the Country who have engaged in pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic, anti-American activity, and the Trump Administration will not tolerate it,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform. “Many are not students, they are paid agitators. We will find, apprehend, and deport these terrorist sympathizers from our country—never to return again. If you support terrorism, including the slaughtering of innocent men, women, and children, your presence is contrary to our national and foreign policy interests, and you are not welcome here.”
From 2018 to 2022, Khalil worked as a program manager at the British Embassy’s Syria Office in Beirut, Lebanon, overseeing the Syria Chevening Program—a prestigious British scholarship initiative. Online records confirm his role in managing these efforts, which aimed to foster ties with future global leaders for Britain’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO).
Andrew Waller, a former British diplomat and policy advisor at the Syria Office during Khalil’s tenure, told Middle East Eye that Khalil “went through a vetting process to get the job and was cleared to work on sensitive issues for the British government.”
Waller described the Chevening scholarship as a “flagship UK soft power policy” that draws top talent worldwide to British universities. “Mahmoud ran its Syria program and interviewed hundreds, if not thousands, of applicants on behalf of the British government,” he said. Khalil also served as a “local staff political officer,” leveraging his linguistic skills to support high-level meetings.

Former Chicago Mayor and Clinton political machine hatchetman Rahm Emanuel appears to be gearing up for a 2028 presidential run while hitting the media and speaking circuit with the message that Democrats must pivot back to the political middle. Fresh off a stint as former President Joe Biden’s ambassador to Japan, Emanuel has increased his public profile through public speaking engagements as well as corporate media and podcast appearances, arguing his party has become too focused on niche cultural and social issues like transgenderism.
During a recent appearance on the Bill Maher Show, Emanuel—who infamously threw steak knives into a table while listing off Democrat donors he believed had abandoned Bill Clinton and shouting “DEAD” while speaking at a fundraiser during the 1992 presidential election—took the more progressive audience to task for catering to far-left, fringe issues. “In seventh grade, if I had known I could’ve said the word ‘they’ and gotten in the girls’ bathroom, I would’ve done it,” Emanuel said, arguing: “We literally are a superpower, we’re facing off against China with 1.4 billion people and two-thirds of our children can’t read eighth-grade level.”
The education issue appears to be the kernel on which an Emanuel campaign would form. The former Chicago Mayor also hammered the education issue while speaking before the major Democratic lawfare group, Democracy Forward, in February. “I am done with the discussion of locker rooms, I am done with the discussion of bathrooms, and we better start having a conversation about the classroom,” he said.
CLINTONISM RETURNS?
Notably, Emanuel is also chastising Democrats for letting their corporate media allies dictate the political conversation, blasting party leaders for being overly focused on President Donald J. Trump‘s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and cuts to federal agencies. “The New York Times put crumbs all the way to the front door of the USAID headquarters and we just walked along back there,” Emanuel told donors and party elites gathered at Democracy Foward’s event.
While most early names for the 2028 Democratic nomination still appear stuck trying to define themselves against President Donald J. Trump’s popular America First agenda, Emanuel may just find a niche playing in the exceedingly difficult lane of ‘political moderate.’ Whether that will play with the Democratic Party’s increasingly far-left and radical base remains to be seen.

Australia has announced it will not escalate with retaliatory measures on April 2 when reciprocal tradetariffsimposed by U.S. President Donald J. Trump take effect. While he declared the steel and aluminum tariffs unjustified, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced on Wednesday that his country would not impose any tariffs of its own in response.
“It has been foreshadowed that no country, regardless of its relationship with the United States, has been granted an exemption,” Albanese said, complaining: “Such a decision by the Trump administration is entirely unjustified.”
Albanese continued: “Tariffs and escalating trade tensions are a form of economic self-harm and a recipe for slower growth and higher inflation. They are paid by the consumers. This is why Australia will not be imposing reciprocal tariffs on the United States.”
While the Australian Prime Minister insists that tariffs will slow economic growth and increase inflation, neither of these statements is necessarily true. Canada, for instance, has long enjoyed robust economic growth despite having high barriers to foreign imports. In addition, The National Pulse has previously reported that there is little evidence that trade tariffs contribute to inflation.
The Australian government contends they should receive a similar exemption to the tariffs that they were granted in 2018. Then, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison argued one of his country’s top steel companies, BlueScope, was also a major employer of U.S. workers, managing to secure an exemption from the 2018 tariffs.
Notably, Australia currently benefits from increased U.S. military spending on a critical submarine and naval base project that is part of the AUKUS treaty enacted during President Trump’s first administration.

The federal judgeblocking the deportation of pro-Hamas activist Mahmoud Khalil—a key instigator of alleged anti-semitic unrest and intimidation on the Columbia University campus—is the scion of a powerful and influential liberal family with ties to George Soros, Media Matters for America, and former President Barack Obama, The National Pulse can reveal.
U.S. District Court Judge Jesse M. Furman, who issued a temporary order preventing Khalil’s removal from the United States while he considers a habeas corpus challenge to the arrest filed by Khalil’s attorney, holds a deeply liberal political pedigree and even clashed with President Donald J. Trump during his first term. He was appointed by former President Obama in 2011.
THE FIRST CLASH.
In late 2018, Judge Furman presided over Department of Commerce v. New York, in which 17 Democrat states sued the Trump admin over adding a question to the 2020 U.S. Census asking the respondent’s citizenship status.
The Commerce Department, which oversees the census, argued that the citizenship question was added back in order to ensure compliance with the Voting Rights Act of 1965. During the discovery phase, prior to the trial proceedings, Judge Furman came to believe the question was actually added to the census form under the direction of Trump’s White House chief strategist, Stephen K. Bannon, and then-Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach (R).
Furman attempted the unusual move to have then-Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross deposed before the trial, but was reversed after an emergency appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
After several delays, Furman finally ruled in the case on January 15, 2019, finding in favor of the Democrat-controlled states and against the Trump administration. The liberal judge contended “…the decision to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census – even if it did not violate the Constitution itself – was unlawful for a multitude of independent reasons and must be set aside.”
Furman’s ruling was subsequently upheld upon appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court—though the justices left open the potential for the citizenship question to be added to the 2020 Census under other justifications.
SCION OF LIBERAL ELITES.
While Judge Furman has made a name for himself in far-left legal circles since his appointment to the federal bench by former President Barack Obama in 2012, he remains overshadowed by his brother and late mother—both of whom have held tremendous influence over aspects of American politics. The judge’s brother, Jason Furman—a Harvard economist and professor—served as the chair of the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) under former President Obama.
As an Obama White House advisor, Jason Furman is credited as one of the key architects of Obamacare and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which contained substantial bailouts for corporate interests following the 2008 financial crisis. So enamored was Obama with Furman that the former president dubbed him “one of the most brilliant economic minds of his generation.”
Following the Obama White House, Jason Furman continues his advocacy for globalist neoliberal economics. He sits on the Council on Foreign Relations, the G30 economic group, and the Aspen Economic Strategy Group. Additionally, he contributes to The Wall Street Journal.
FUNDING THE LEFT.
Although Judge Jesse Furman and his brother Jason both made names for themselves in elite Democrat political circles, their late mother, Gail Furman, was a true liberal political heavyweight. As the president of the Furman Foundation, Gail Furman was an early and major backer of Media Matters for America and its founder, David Brock. Additionally, the Furman Foundation served as a major donor to the Tides Center—an affiliate of the far-left Tides Foundation.
Media Matters—which has also received significant funding from billionaire progressive George Soros—has long engaged in partisan media manipulation in an effort to silence conservative and populist voices. Additionally, the far-left group is considered by most a staunch ally of Hillary Clinton.
However, Gail Furman’s influence in American politics extends even further. Along with George Soros and members of the progressive Democracy Alliance, Gail Furman was responsible for launching the Secretary of State Project—a 527 political action committee (PAC) that, between 2006 and 2010, sought to elect Democratic Secretaries of State across the country. Once elected, these Secretaries of State proceeded to undermine election integrity and loosen voter laws, effectively tilting elections in favor of Democratic candidates.
Notably, the PAC was integral in the election of Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie in 2006. Ritchie would go on to oversee the 2008 United States Senate election recount in Minnesota—a race that eventually went narrowly to the Democrat candidate Al Franken by a margin of just 312 votes.

President Donald J. Trump announced on Tuesday that he will impose a new, additional 25 percent tariff on all Canadian steel and aluminum being exported to the United States in response to a tax being imposed on electricity sold to the United States by the leader of Canada’s most populous province. Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced on Monday that electricity supplied his province supplies to around 1.5 million U.S. homes and businesses would come with its own 25 percent ‘tariff,’ taking effect immediately. Consequently, Ford contends the measure is in response to tariffs on Canadian goods already imposed by Trump.
“I will not hesitate to increase this charge. If the United States escalates, I will not hesitate to shut the electricity off completely,” Ford threatened at a news conference on Monday in Toronto. He added: “Believe me when I say I do not want to do this. I feel terrible for the American people who didn’t start this trade war. It’s one person who is responsible, it’s President Trump.”
Following the Canadian provincial leader’s imposition of the electricity tax, President Trump responded on Tuesday, imposing the new 25 percent tariff on Canadian steel and aluminum on top of an already existing 25 percent tariff. “Based on Ontario, Canada, placing a 25% Tariff on ‘Electricity’ coming into the United States, I have instructed my Secretary of Commerce to add an ADDITIONAL 25% Tariff, to 50%, on all STEEL and ALUMINUM COMING INTO THE UNITED STATES FROM CANADA, ONE OF THE HIGHEST TARIFFING NATIONS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. He continued: This will go into effect TOMORROW MORNING, March 12th. Also, Canada must immediately drop their Anti-American Farmer Tariff of 250% to 390% on various U.S. dairy products, which has long been considered outrageous.”
MORE TARIFFS TO COME?
Additionally, Trump stated he would declare “a National Emergency on Electricity within the threatened area,” which “will allow the U.S to quickly do what has to be done to alleviate this abusive threat from Canada.”
In a serious escalation, President Trump’s Truth Social post continues, stating: “If other egregious, long time Tariffs are not likewise dropped by Canada, I will substantially increase, on April 2nd, the Tariffs on Cars coming into the U.S. which will, essentially, permanently shut down the automobile manufacturing business in Canada.”
Meanwhile, the America First leader also suggests that the United States may reduce its military cooperation with Canada, arguing it would be better for America’s northern neighbor to become the 51st state.

Tucker Carlson is accusing Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) of blocking an unnamed individual’s appointment to a key intelligence position in an effort to sabotage the full release of the federal government’s JFK assassination files. According to Carlson, Sen. Cotton moved to prevent the appointment as the individual would likely advocate for releasing long-classified JFK documents. The former Fox News host leveled the allegations against Sen. Cotton during an interview with Chris Cuomo on Monday evening.
While speaking with Cuomo, Carlson revealed that in January—as President Donald J. Trump was establishing his administration—a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) intervened in the appointment process for a key intelligence position. “In January, there was a scramble over who’s gonna get what jobs in the new administration,” Carlson said, continuing: “At one point, there was someone who was being discussed for a job in the intel world, and a member of the SSCI… went to the people making the decision and said, ‘You cannot hire this person because this person will be certain to push for the release of the JFK files.'”
“You have to ask yourself, ‘What is that?'” Carlson posed to Cuomo, adding: “If you’re telling me that six weeks ago, a member of the United States Senate was trying to keep someone out of a job in order to keep these files secret, that is to protect the CIA, I don’t believe that for a second.”
When pressured by Cuomo to reveal the senator’s identity, Carlson named Cotton. Following the revelation, Cuomo questioned Carlson on his efforts to verify the information directly with President Trump or Sen. Cotton. Carlson responded, stating he didn’t think Cotton would agree to an interview.
Sen. Cotton responded to the allegations on Tuesday, writing in a post on X (formerly Twitter): “This is false. I have no problem releasing the ‘JFK files.'”

Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has accused the United Kingdom of attempting to instigate a global conflict, aligning with historical claims that Britain has manipulated global events for its own benefit. The SVR statement, utilizing the pejorative phrase “Perfidious Albion,” accuses the UK of undermining efforts by U.S. President Donald J. Trump to promote peace in Europe, particularly in relation to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The allegations emerge as the UK observes Commonwealth Day and follows the expulsion of two British diplomats from Moscow. Russia claims these diplomats engaged in espionage under the cover of the British embassy. Meanwhile, peacediscussions involving the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine are proceeding in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Russia’s intelligence agency contends that the UK is threatened by increasing dialogue between Washington and Moscow, fearing it could disrupt British objectives aimed at isolating Russia. According to the SVR, the UK is working to sabotage President Trump’s peace initiatives, and British media and NGOs have been implicated in efforts to portray Trump negatively.
Moscow’s use of “Perfidious Albion,” a narrative once employed by German wartime propaganda, seems to be intended for both domestic reassurance and international impact. Russia’s rhetoric frames the UK as historically responsible for previous global conflicts and suggests that it is on the path to triggering another majorwar.
In a conclusion that appeared to simultaneously warn and accuse Britain, the SVR stated that the current approach mirrors actions taken by the UK before the two world wars, reiterating the accusation that Britain seeks to provoke conflict while remaining insulated.
The National Pulse has previously reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin alleges former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson sabotaged peace talks with Ukraine in late 2022. Putin’s allegation confirms reporting by The National Pulse’s Editor-in-Chief, Raheem Kassam, that Johnson’s intervention scuttled the negotiations.
