Hunter Biden hired a team of high-priced consultants to doctor his Wikipedia page by talking up his supposed charity work and erasing references to business ties between himself, his father’s brother James, and Allen Stanford, a disgraced financier imprisoned for running a $7 billion Ponzi scheme.
Investigative reporter Lee Fang, who previously exposed the federal government’s funding of social media censorship tools that predominantly targeted conservatives, discovered Hunter had hired FTI Consulting to burnish his public image while combing through emails found on the First Son’s laptop.
In addition to deleting references to Stanford, with whom he and James Biden founded PARADIGM Global Advisors, Hunter also sought to scour his article of any mention of the links between the National Endowment for Democracy, where he worked for a time, and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
The airbrushing was done via “sock puppet” accounts designed to appear as though they were operated by regular, anonymous users of Wikipedia. One named “Earflaps” was seemingly tasked with removing negative commentary on Hunter’s relationship with Ukrainian energy corporation Burisma, for example.
