Ben Carson At TPUSA’s AmFest: Get ‘Focused On Getting Trump Back Into Office’.

Dr. Ben Carson, who led the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under former President Trump, addressed Turning Point USA’s (TPUSA) annual AmericaFest conference on Monday – warning attendees he sees a Democrat government determined to divide and pit Americans against each other. Carson, rumored to be on Trump’s short list for vice-president in 2024, spoke with TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, and walked attendees through the story of what made America not just great, but unique among the nations of the world.

The soft-spoken doctor explained America’s youth must realize: “It doesn’t matter where your ancestors came from… you’re better off here than where they came from.” He told Kirk the seeds of division sown by Democrats, race-activists, and those who deny biological reality are akin to the sorts of divisions used by communist and socialist government to divide and conquer their own people. “We are not enemies,” Dr. Carson lamented. “People are trying to divide us…” on race, age, income, gender, and politics.

Dr. Carson explained that as a child and young man he experienced first-hand racism in Chattanooga, Tennessee – going on to praise the progress and strides the country has made since. “We now have black admirals, we had a President,” Carson said, before cracking a smile and humorously noting,”…and a Vice-President, although you don’t see her!” He added, pushing back against leftist accusations American racism is as bad today as it was when he was a boy: “If this country is so bad, why are so many people trying to get in?”

As former President Donald Trump has moved closer to securing the 2024 Republican nomination for president, Dr. Carson’s name has appeared more-and-more in the press as being a potential running mate. At the end of their America Fest interview, Charlie Kirk pressed him on the possibility of serving as Vice-President with Carson demurring: “Well, let me put it this way… right now our energies need to be focused on getting Trump back in office.”

The purpose of removing the cap is to allow broadcasters to achieve scale and compete with broadcasting giants like Netflix. The cap removal was also framed as a way to help local journalism expand. The change to the cap comes as traditional television faces declining viewership and revenue due to the popularity of streaming, which accounts for over 40 percent of all viewership, according to Nielsen, a major audience research firm. “Local broadcasters are struggling in terms of audience and revenue, and this plan could give them some needed relief,” said Jeff McCall, professor of communications at DePauw University.

Prevent, the United Kingdom’s counter-terrorism program, saw a sharp rise in referrals last year, marking a decade-long high, sparking concerns about extremism and radicalization.

In 2024, 9,957 people were referred to Prevent. This represents the highest number of referrals since the program’s creation in 2015. Fifty-six percent related to people with no identified ideology. Twenty percent of the referrals were related to extreme right-wing ideology, eight percent were related to Islamist extremism, eight percent to fascination with mass violence, one percent to Incel extremism, and 0.3 percent related to extreme left-wing ideology. Ethnicity data was provided in 52 percent of cases. The data revealed that 68 percent of referrals were white, 18 percent were Asian, eightpercent black, and seven percent “Other.” Prevent received an 117 percent increase in referrals between January to March 2025 following the mass stabbing in Southport, England, which was carried out by Axel Rudakubana. The Home Office has attributed the rise in referrals to “a number of operational and policy changes and improvements, along with associated training rolled out.”
🎯 IMPACT: Prevent referrals are different from terrorism charges. Somebody referred to Prevent is not necessarily guilty of carrying out a terrorist attack, planning a terrorist attack, or holding to extremist ideology. This is also underscored by the fact that more referrals relate to extreme right ideology than Islamist extremism, even though the overwhelming majority of people convicted of terror-related offenses in the United Kingdom relate to Islamist terrorism. This suggests substantial underreporting of Islamic extremism and overreporting of right-wing extremism to Prevent.
📺 FLASHBACK: This release of Prevent referral data follows the murder of Ann Widdecombe, a former Conservative Member of Parliament and minister turned spokeswoman for Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party. The investigation into Widdecombe’s death was taken over by Counter Terrorism Policing last month, with the case believed to be a “targeted attack” with a likely ideological motive.

Bonehill-Paine was set to stand in next year’s local elections in Somerset, England, for the Conservatives. However, following backlash surrounding his criminal past, Bonehill-Paine withdrew his candidacy. However, he was swiftly appointed as an advisor to the Conservative Party’s Culture and Integration Commission, which helps formulate the party’s social policies. Bonehill-Paine will advise the party on combating radicalization and anti-Semitism. Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch defended Bonehill-Paine, saying, “If we are going to stop extremism and anti-Semitism, we are going to need help from those people who were part of the problem, but have now changed and are being part of the solution.” The Conservatives leader’s decision was partially motivated by Bonehill-Paine’s claim that he received “Home Office certification” for “counter-extremism work” after leaving prison. This work supposedly involves traveling “across the country delivering training to police officers, probation services, schools, universities and many other organisations.” However, it has since been revealed that the Home Office does not certify individuals for counter-extremism training, though it funds organizations for such work.

The fact that Bonehill-Paine’s  counter-extremist credentials have since been thrown into doubt makes the appointment even more questionable.
📺 FLASHBACK: In 2014, Bonehill-Paine was convicted of assaulting a police officer, theft, and malicious communications. In 2015, Bonehill-Paine served time in prison for distributing anti-Semitic material. In 2016, Bonehill-Paine was convicted of racially aggravated harassment. “The branch and indeed party are fully aware of my past. Our chairman has been a vocal advocate and has supported me since I became a member of the party. I am very grateful for the support,” said Bonehill-Paine at the time.
