COVID Restrictions Return… In DeSantis’s Florida!?

COVID-19 pandemic era restrictions appear to be returning in Florida, with the Palm Beach Gardens High School, part of the Palm Beach County school district, announcing its Friday night football game against Vero Beach is postponed until September 6th “out of an abundance of caution.”

The news comes shortly after the Florida Governor took aim at former President Donald J. Trump in absentia, for his pandemic handling from the Milwaukee GOP debate stage.

DeSantis has made his response to the COVID-19 pandemic a cornerstone of his campaign’s message to voters, expressing staunch opposition to new lockdowns, school closures, mask requirements, and vaccine mandates. During debate, he said: “It should have never happened. And in Florida, we led the country out of lockdown, kept our state free and open.”

In 2022, DeSantis pushed back against Florida school districts that sought to reinstate mask mandates and closures during outbreaks of COVID-19, telling the press at the time: “Our schools will be open in the state of Florida… If you’re healthy, you need to be in school.”

Despite his bravado, the latest news from Palm Beach Gardens High School suggests that DeSantis’s fight against pandemic restrictions has been less successful than advertised. The National Pulse previously reported that Governor DeSantis failed to fire his state’s very own Dr. Fauci, Palm Beach County Department of Health director Dr. Alina Alonso.

Dr. Alonso, known as “the face of the COVID-19 pandemic in Palm Beach County,” was given free rein during the COVID pandemic to enforce arbitrary restrictions upon millions of Floridians, including the implementation of mask mandates, establishment of a COVID hotline for lockdown snitches, and even creating an armed COVID compliance police force. In 2023, Dr. Alonso retired, stating her replacement Dr. Jyothi Gunta, “will make a great new director.”

In footage from the scene, several Los Angeles County Sheriff officers can be seen forming a loose perimeter around the dining establishment, while several dozen anti-ICE agitators blow horns, whistles, and wave flags and signs. Local reports indicate the TSA agents were forced to call the sheriff for backup as the crowd gathered outside.

When one of the protest organizers was asked whether the group thought it was ICE dining at the restaurant, she responded, “Potentially.” After a brief standoff, the TSA agents were escorted out of the area by sheriff’s department deputies. There were no arrests or injuries.

The Wednesday night demonstration follows weeks of anti-ICE agitators confronting federal law enforcement agents in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area of Minnesota. In addition, other cities have seen numerous vehicle ramming incidents where activists—and in some cases criminal illegal immigrants—have purposely slammed their cars into vehicles believed to be occupied by ICE and other federal agents.

He noted that Venezuela’s interim leaders are now cooperating with the U.S. to seize illegal oil shipments. Revenue from oil sales is expected to flow into sovereign wealth funds, with one supporting healthcare services and the other improving public infrastructure.

Acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez confirmed that her government has established communication channels with U.S. officials. Rodríguez also announced efforts to revamp the country’s energy laws to attract private foreign investment. The U.S. fund for oil revenue was initially set up in Qatar to avoid legal complications and ensure American creditors do not seize the proceeds.

Rubio clarified that while the U.S. controls the dispersal of funds, the account itself belongs to Venezuela. “It’s an account that belongs to Venezuela, but it has U.S. sanctions as a blocking mechanism,” he said. Another post from the organization claimed, “100+ New Yorkers have taken over the lobby of a Hilton housing ICE agents. We won’t stand for a company that aids a fascist military killing and abducting our neighbors.” Protestors chanted slogans such as “No ICE, No KKK, No Fascist USA” and “ICE out of New York.”

In one video, protestors reportedly chanted, “Kristi Noem will hang,” referencing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem. Nevertheless, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s spokesman, Sam Raskin, said the city government backed the protestors, stating, “Mayor Mamdani commends the protestors who exercised their right to protest against ICE today. The investigation found that schools that followed FERPA and informed parents were allegedly targeted by state officials for noncompliance with California guidance.

The Department offered California an opportunity to resolve the violations voluntarily. Proposed steps include formally notifying school administrators that gender support plans qualify as education records subject to parental inspection and ensuring state policies do not conflict with federal law. If California refuses to comply, the state could face enforcement action, including the potential loss of federal education funding.

One case cited by investigators involved a mother who sued her daughter’s school after discovering that staff had encouraged her daughter to identify as a transgender boy and taught her how to use chest binders. School officials justified withholding the information by citing a “parental secrecy policy,” a practice the Department said violated FERPA.

The federal action comes amid ongoing legal disputes over gender policies in California schools. In late 2025, a judge ruled that California schools could not conceal students’ gender transitions from parents, finding that such secrecy policies violated parental rights. That ruling has since been paused while the state appeals. At the same time, California has continued advancing gender-related education policies, including a law backed by Gov. Newsom requiring gender-neutral bathrooms in public schools by 2026.

Anti-ICE agitators in Minnesota using encrypted Signal group chats to coordinate actions against federal immigration enforcement are reportedly informing on federal agents to leftist Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (D) through a state-run portal created by his office. The online form allows users to submit written narratives, photos, and videos describing encounters with or perceived harms linked to federal enforcement actions.

Ellison’s office says the portal is intended to document a range of impacts from federal activity, including alleged constitutional violations and public safety concerns. Notably, Ellison has previously filed a lawsuit seeking to block Department of Homeland Security (DHS) actions in Minnesota.

According to numerous reports, large and organized Signal chats are being used to share real-time information about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Border Patrol operations in Minnesota in order to disrupt them. Federal authorities have confirmed that these activities are under investigation.

Some Signal threads reportedly include as many as 1,000 participants, and members organizing themselves into “shifts” to observe and log vehicles they believe are being used by federal agents. Notably, some of the vehicles flagged later proved to be unrelated to federal law enforcement.

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel said in a recent interview that the bureau is investigating whether individuals involved in the chats are placing federal agents “in harm’s way.” Patel cited concerns about the sharing of license plate numbers and real-time location data. He emphasized that the investigation is focused on potential violations of federal law and not on suppressing political expression or lawful dissent.

Several convicted criminals were arrested on January 26 following chaotic protests outside of the SpringHill Suites hotel in Maple Grove, Minnesota, where far-left anti-ICE extremists besieged the hotel amid claims that Border Patrol leader Gregory Bovino was staying at the property. Among those arrested was Justin Neal Shelton, a 37-year-old St. Paul resident, who was charged with obstructing legal process. Court records show Shelton has a criminal history dating back to 2007, including a conviction for assaulting a pregnant woman during an attempted carjacking. He served approximately five years in prison for that offense.

Abraham Nelson Coleman, 45, was also taken into custody on allegations of damaging property outside the hotel. Coleman has accumulated multiple theft– and property-related convictions since 2003, according to public records. Another arrest involved Rayna Michelle Alston, 21, who was booked on a riot charge. Alston has previously voiced support for anti-ICE demonstrations on social media, where she has shared posts calling for disruption and resistance against federal immigration enforcement.

According to authorities, officers intervened after incidents of property damage and confrontations with law enforcement were reported. The Maple Grove Police Department said, “The protest was declared an unlawful assembly after property damage and violence occurred.”
