Nativity of Christ Displayed at U.S. Capitol for First Time Ever.

The Nativity of Christ has been displayed at the United States Capitol building for the first time in American history. Depicting the birth of Jesus, the display was placed at the southern steps of the Capitol, leading to the House of Representatives this week. The move comes after Rev. Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, won a federal court battle designating the steps a public forum.

Rev. Mahoney posted a picture of the scene on X this week. He wrote, “7 months ago, we would’ve been arrested for having this Nativity Display on the steps of the US Capitol.”

Nativity scenes originated with Saint Francis of Assisi, who created the first one using real animals in 1223 AD in Italy. Like Christmas trees, invented by Saint Boniface sometime in the 700s AD, the Nativity scene has become a Christmas symbol for Christians of many denominations across the globe.

However, Christmas for Christians outside the United States may not be as merry. In Germany, at least two terrorist plots against Christmas Markets have been foiled in recent weeks, and in Syria, the future of the country’s ancient Christian population may be in peril after Islamist radicals overthrew the government.

📺 DETAIL: The party announced on Monday that British-born young workers, married couples with children, and military veterans would be prioritized for public housing. Reform estimates that roughly 540,000 social homes are occupied by foreign nationals. “It’s not fair that young British working families can’t get on the housing ladder when overseas nationals have come to the UK and, because of the current rules based on need rather than suitability, they have jumped ahead in the queue. We just don’t think that’s right: I can’t think of another country where you rock up with a family and you expect the local taxpayer in that country to pay for your housing needs,” said Tice. The party also plans to raise £10 billion (~$13.6bn) to build 50,000 homes per year through measures such as reintroducing Right to Buy, a scheme first introduced by Margaret Thatcher which allows social housing occupants to buy their homes, and leveraging local government pension funds.
