Portland Abandons Effort to Prosecute Conservative Journalist Nick Sortor Amid Antifa Disorder.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Conservative journalist Nick Sortor, subjected to a dubious arrest by Portland Police while covering a disorderly demonstration at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility by anti-ICE agitators, will not be prosecuted for disorderly conduct.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Nick Sortor, Portland Police, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, and Antifa.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The Multnomah County DA confirmed Sortor would not be charged on October 6, 2025, following his arrest in Portland, Oregon.

💬KEY QUOTE: “VICTORY: Following our demand for discovery related to the
[Portland Police’s] coordination with Antifa, the Multnomah County DA has announced they will DECLINE to prosecute me” – Nick Sortor

🎯IMPACT: Nick Sortor will still appear in court, although the case is not proceeding to prosecution, and has vowed that “this is ONLY the beginning.”

IN FULL

Conservative journalist Nick Sortor, subjected to a dubious arrest by Portland Police while covering a disorderly demonstration at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility by anti-ICE agitators, will not be prosecuted for disorderly conduct.

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office stated, “After a careful review of the investigation, including reports and video, we do not believe the crime of Disorderly Conduct can be proven against Mr. Sortor beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Sortor, who will still appear in the Portland Justice Center court, emphasized that this decision is “ONLY the beginning” of the situation. He noted that the efforts to prosecute him were only abandoned “Following our demand for discovery related to the [Portland Police’s] coordination with Antifa.”

Portland Police have justified the arrest by citing probable cause based on the information available at the scene. However, other journalists present on the night have said that Sortor did not instigate any disorder, with the violence perpetrated mainly by anti-ICE agitators.

The Portland ICE facility has been subjected to a de facto siege by Antifa and Antifa-aligned agitators for weeks, with Portland and Oregon State officials accused of discouraging local law enforcement from assisting federal personnel due to Democratic opposition to the Trump administration enforcing federal law.

Trump Economy: Factory Job Openings Hit Three-Year Peak Amid Manufacturing Resurgence.

New federal data has revealed that job openings in the American manufacturing sector reached 580,000 in July, signaling strong demand in the sector despite nationwide hiring challenges.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Manufacturing job openings in the United States rose to a three-year high in July, according to new data from the Department of Labor. Durable goods manufacturing vacancies surged 68 percent year-over-year.
📺 DETAIL: On Tuesday, new data from the Department of Labor’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey showed that manufacturing job openings rose to 580,000 in July, up from 501,000 in June. This constitutes the highest level since January 2023. In contrast, the manufacturing sector posted 428,000 openings this time last year. Durable goods manufacturers saw a particularly sharp increase, with vacancies climbing to 429,000 from 353,000 the previous month, and 255,000 from the previous year. The follows data released by the Department of Commerce showing a 1.1 percent rise in durable goods orders, twice what was expected. While hiring in manufacturing fell to 288,000 in July from 330,000 last month, this comes amid a broader trend of declining hires. According to recent data, total job openings across all sectors increased to 7.3 million, while hiring declined to 5.05 million. It was also revealed that layoffs across the economy dropped to 1.666 million, one of the lowest levels on record, while the rate of unemployment remains historically low at 4.1 percent.
🎯 IMPACT: This demonstrates the ongoing growth of the U.S. manufacturing sector, which has been a core focus of the Trump administration’s economic policy. This follows a report showing that U.S. manufacturing has reached a four-year high in July. The same report showed that employment in the sector had risen to a three-year high. Specifically, the Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) reached 55.6 in July, an increase from 53.3 in June. The rise in U.S. manufacturing vacancies reflects ongoing investment in onshore production in order to create American jobs. This data also shows that the U.S. manufacturing sector has remained strong despite concerns over the ongoing Iran war and related inflationary pressures. This follows reports that 98,000 jobs were added to the U.S. economy back in June, and the Consumer Price Index (CPI) beat expectations in July.

Spanish City Faces Daily Sexual Assaults After Migrant Invasion.

The Spanish exclave of Ceuta faces a security and humanitarian crisis following a mass influx of migrants, with authorities reporting a surge in sexual assaults and societal unrest.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Spanish prosecutors say 23 sexual assaults, including nine involving children, have been reported in Ceuta since tens of thousands of migrants crossed into the Spanish exclave from Morocco at the end of July. Ceuta’s chief prosecutor Silvia Rojas said the figure represents an average of nearly one reported assault per day.
📺 DETAIL: An estimated 72,000 migrants crossed into Ceuta on July 30 and 31, with as many as 5,000 still remaining, including between 1,400 and 1,600 claimed to be minors, according to Rojas. Local officials have reported growing tensions and violence between migrants and residents. Emergency doctors have treated several alleged sexual assault victims, including a 10-year-old child, while prosecutors say many victims have not reported attacks because of fear or their uncertain circumstances. The crisis has placed Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s Socialist Party government under increasing political pressure, with the populist-right Vox party saying he has effectively surrendered control of Ceuta. Sánchez has rejected claims that Morocco orchestrated the influx and is instead attacking disinformation campaigns allegedly amplified by foreign and “far-right” networks, accusations that have been denied by both Russia and Israel.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “We can’t do anything unless these people leave. We don’t have a plan from the government. We don’t have anything.” – Arantxa Campos, president of the Ceuta Employers’ Confederation
🎯 IMPACT: The reported sexual assaults, particularly those involving children, are likely to intensify demands for tighter border controls, stronger security measures, and expanded protections for vulnerable migrants in Ceuta. The crisis also increases political pressure on Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and could further fuel Spain’s broader debate over immigration, while potentially straining relations with Morocco. Ceuta, on the North African coast, less than ten miles from the Spanish mainland, has belonged to the European country since the 1500s.

Trump Warns Chicago ‘Will Die’ if Dem Governor Keeps Refusing Federal Crime-Fighting Assistance.

President Trump has renewed calls for federal military intervention in Chicago after over 40 people were shot over the weekend, urging Illinois Governor JB Pritzker to allow him to help.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald J. Trump has renewed his calls for Illinois Governor JB Pritzker (D) to request federal assistance to address violent crime in Chicago, following a weekend in which 41 people were reportedly shot, and three were killed. Trump said on Truth Social that violence in the city had reached unacceptable levels and urged Pritzker to contact him, arguing that federal intervention could rapidly reduce crime.
📺 DETAIL: The President made a similar appeal in June after a separate surge in shootings, but Pritzker rejected the idea. The dispute comes amid Trump’s broader willingness to deploy federal resources, including National Guard personnel and immigration authorities, to Democrat-led cities experiencing crime or immigration-related problems. Federal immigration enforcement operations in Chicago last year prompted confrontations between agents and protesters and drew strong opposition from Pritzker and other state and local officials.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “Chicago violence is unchecked and at record levels… The city will die if the Federal Government… is not invited in, by the Mayor or Governor, to HELP.” – President Donald J. Trump
🎯 IMPACT: The dispute will deepen tensions between President Trump and Illinois Democrats over the federal government’s role in combating violent crime in major cities. A federal intervention in Chicago could become another flashpoint in the political battle over crime, public safety, and executive authority.
📺 FLASHBACK: Last year, federal immigration forces were deployed in Chicago under “Operation Midway Blitz,” targeting illegal immigrants and criminal aliens. Pritzker likened the operation to “the early days of Nazi Germany.”

Nigel Farage Officially Returns to Parliament After Landslide Election Win.

Reform UK party leader Nigel Farage is officially a Member of Parliament (MP) again after emerging victorious in the Clacton by-election last month.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has been sworn in as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Clacton.
📺 DETAIL: On Tuesday, Farage was officially sworn in as MP for Clacton. This followed his resounding victory in the recent Clacton by-election (special election). This was triggered by Farage’s resignation, in protest of a weaponized parliamentary probe into his finances. Farage insisted that it was down to the people of Clacton, not politicians, to determine whether he was fit to represent them. Farage was flanked by Reform MPs Richard Tice and Andrew Rosindell while walking to the Table to take the Parliamentary Oath. After swearing allegiance to King Charles III on the Bible, Farage proceeded to the Test Roll, a parchment book that contains the text of the oath. In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Farage said: “I’m pleased to be back with an increased majority and more votes than we got in the general election [in 2024].” The Reform leader added: “I want to say a big thank you to all the voters in Clacton who’ve put me back here. I will do my best.
💬 KEY QUOTE: I swear by almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles, his heirs, successors, according to law, so help me God.” – Farage taking the Oath of Allegiance
🎯 IMPACT: This formalizes Farage’s triumphant return to Parliament. Now that the Reform leader is officially the MP for Clacton, he will resume his parliamentary duties. This underscores the political establishment’s failure to drive Farage out of politics by standing aside in the Clacton by-election, allowing BBC contractor Jonathan David Harvey, running as “Count Binface,” to serve as an anti-Farage unity candidate. Farage managed to increase his vote count and vote share compared to when he was first elected back in 2024. Farage’s return coincides with the resignation of former Prime Minister and Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer from Parliament, who was toppled by Labour colleagues after Reform thrashed the governing party in May’s local elections.

DSA Endorses Streamer Who Said ‘America Deserved 9/11’ Days Before 25th Anniversary.

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have publicly backed controversial far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, amplifying debates over socialism and its place in the Democrats and American politics more broadly.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has defended far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, who previously said “America deserved 9/11,” and endorsed him as “our streamer,” just days before the 25th anniversary of the attacks, which left thousands of Americans dead across New York City, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
📺 DETAIL: The DSA described Turkey-raised Piker as “*our Twitch streamer” in a statement defending him on Sunday. The statement was published after several Democrat politicians disavowed Piker for his recent comments on Jewish support for Israel in the United States. “If Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone’s going to come around and take action… Not against the state of Israel, mind you, but against American Jews,” warned Piker in a recent stream. On Monday, Republican lawmakers pushed a resolution condemning socialism in the House of Representatives. The resolution describes socialism as “incompatible with American values and the United States Constitution” and states that “socialist ideology necessitates a concentration of power that has, time and time again, collapsed into communist regimes, totalitarian rule, and repressive dictatorships.” The DSA responded on X (formerly Twitter), “The establishment: Ds, Rs + media, have pivoted from DSA wins to personal attacks, racist dog whistles, symbolic House resolutions, and an obsession with a Twitch streamer. What would happen if they devoted that same attention to the thousands of Americans who die each year because they can’t afford healthcare?
💬 KEY QUOTE: “America deserved 9/11, dude. F**k it, I’m saying it,” said Piker in a 2019 livestream.
🎯 IMPACT: The controversy has underscored the growing divisions and tensions within the Democrats over socialism and Israel. It also shows how Piker has become politically toxic to much of the Democrats. This controversy comes amid a broader shift to the left among Democrats, with one in three Democrat-aligned voters self-describing as Democratic Socialists. The DSA counts a number of influential Democrat politicians as members, including New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who recently renewed her DSA membership. A majority of Americans say they are concerned about the rise of socialism and communism in American politics.

DATA: Another Poll Shows Le Pen Leading All Rivals for French Presidency.

Another poll has indicated that National Rally (RN) party leader Marine Le Pen is on track to beat all her rivals in the first and second rounds of France’s presidential elections in 2027.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Another poll has predicted that National Rally (RN) leader Marine Le Pen will defeat all her major rivals in France’s presidential elections next year.
📺 DETAIL: The poll was conducted by Elabe, a French polling firm, and commissioned by BFMTV and La Tribune Dimanche, a French broadcaster and Sunday newspaper. The poll showed Le Pen defeating so-called centrist candidates Édouard Philippe and Gabriel Attal 52.5 percent to 47.5 percent and 57 percent to 43 percent, respectively. The poll also shows Le Pen defeating left-leaning Raphaël Glucksmann 57 percent to 43 percent. Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the far-left candidate, is predicted to lose to Le Pen 69.5 percent to 30.5 percent. Notably, France uses a two-round system for its presidential elections. All candidates are permitted to stand in the first round, but if no candidate wins an outright majority of the votes cast, the two most popular candidates proceed to a second run-off round. The poll showed that Le Pen is leading in first round polling with 34 percent to 35.5 percent of the vote. Philippe is her closest competitor, on a distant 17 percent of the vote. Jean-Luc Mélenchon is predicted to secure 14 percent to 14.5 percent in the first round, while Glucksmann is on track to get between 11.5 percent and 14 percent of the vote.
🎯 IMPACT: This polling suggests that the “front républicain” strategy of establishment and leftist parties backing each other to block the National Rally from winning will not work in 2027. If the poll’s findings are reflected in the elections, it will be the National Rally’s first-ever presidential victory. This would mark a significant shift in the French political landscape, away from establishment parties and candidates and towards populist and eurosceptic outsiders.
📺 FLASHBACK: This is not the first poll to put Le Pen ahead of her rivals. Back in July, a poll conducted by the French Institute of Public Opinion (IFOP) revealed that Marine Le Pen would win both rounds. Specifically, Le Pen was predicted to beat Attal, a protege of outgoing President Emmanuel Macron, by 54 percent to 46 percent, and Philippe by 55 percent to 45 percent. The same poll had Le Pen beating Mélenchon by 70 percent to 30 percent. In August, Toluna-Harris, a market research firm, also predicted that Le Pen would defeat Jean-Luc Mélenchon (68 percent versus 32 percent), Philippe (55 percent versus 45 percent), and Attal (57 percent versus 43 percent).

Supreme Court Allows Construction of Trump’s White House Ballroom and Military Complex to Continue.

The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of allowing construction on President Trump’s White House ballroom to continue, after a lower court’s attempt to halt the project.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 to allow construction on President Donald J. Trump’s $400 million White House ballroom and military complex to continue on Monday, overturning a lower court’s decision to halt the project. The ruling permits the 90,000-square-foot project to proceed despite ongoing legal challenges, which could potentially still result in the project being halted at a later date.
📍 WHEN & WHERE: The decision was issued by the Supreme Court on Monday after a previous ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit attempted to halt construction on the White House campus.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “I am pleased to report that the United States Supreme Court has just ruled in favor of the Ballroom/Military Complex being built without any further contingency, doubt, or threat. We are living in the Golden Age of America, and this Building will be one of the Greatest ever constructed in Washington, D.C. When completed in the Summer of 2028, the magnificent Ballroom and Military Complex will be something that the entire Country is very proud of. The Project, despite the baseless lawsuit brought by the so-called National Trust for Historic Preservation of the United States, which is not in any way affiliated with the United States Government, is under budget and ahead of schedule. The Ballroom is totally funded by Great Patriots and Corporations and, therefore, is a Gift — At no cost to the American Taxpayer,” wrote President Trump in a Truth Social post responding to the ruling.
🎯 IMPACT: The ruling allows the 250-person construction crew to continue working around the clock, advancing a project that has become a focal point of legal and political debate. However, the case may eventually return to the Supreme Court for a final decision.
📺 DETAIL: The ballroom, which replaces the East Wing demolished last fall, has faced opposition from anti-Trump groups who argue that such major renovations require additional Congressional approval. The Trump administration appealed to the Supreme Court after the D.C. Circuit Court ruled 2-1 in favor of halting construction. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett sided with Trump, while Chief Justice John Roberts joined the liberal justices in dissent.

Lax Biden-Era Policies on Migrant Truckers Killed Over 200 Americans: DHS.

Officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) criticized the loosening of regulations governing migrant truck drivers under former President Joe Biden for causing “hundreds” of deaths.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Secretary for Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin has attributed over 200 deaths caused by migrant trucker drivers to policies implemented by the Biden government.
📺 DETAIL: Secretary Mullin accused the Biden government of enabling unqualified migrant drivers to operate 18-wheelers without proper testing. He attributed 239 deaths caused by migrant truck drivers to the Biden government’s policies. “These individuals are dangerous, and because of the failure from the previous administration, from the Biden administration, they’ve killed hundreds of people, and unfortunately injured thousands,” said Secretary Mullin during a press conference on Monday. When a reporter suggested that the number of deaths caused by unqualified migrant truckers was relatively small, the DHS chief pointed to an injured girl on the side of the stage and replied, “Are you saying one percent is okay? Because… Every single illegal that maims or kills an individual is 100 percent preventable. I’m trying to prevent every one of them. I don’t care if it’s a fraction of one percent—I’m coming after you.”
💬 KEY QUOTE: “Thank God, President Trump was elected by the American people to restore law and order and safety back onto our streets. Because one death, one permanent injury, is one too many, and it was 100 percent preventable. Who, in the Biden administration, thought it was a great idea to put people on the streets that couldn’t read our road signs, driving 80,000-pound rigs, without even having to take an English test or a driving test?” – Markwayne Mullin
🎯 IMPACT: This closely follows plans announced by the Department of Transportation (DOT) earlier this month to make mandatory English proficiency tests for commercial truck drivers permanent. This represents a reversal of former President Barack Obama’s decision to reverse a standard from 1937 requiring English proficiency, to ensure that truck drivers could understand road signs, safety protocols, and law enforcement.

Ex-UK PM Starmer Resigns from Parliament.

Former British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced his resignation from the House of Commons, following his ouster by supporters of his successor, Andy Burnham.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Former British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced he is stepping down as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Holborn and St Pancras, after being forced out of office by fellow Labour MPs shaken by the party’s heavy losses to Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party in May’s local elections. In a statement, Starmer explained that it was the “right time” to pass on the role to a successor, despite having previously pledged to remain in Parliament until the next election.
📍 WHEN & WHERE: Starmer announced his decision on Tuesday following his resignation as Labour leader in June and Andy Burnham’s subsequent election as Labour leader in July 2026.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “I have decided that now is the right time to step down as MP for Holborn and St Pancras and hand the baton over to a successor,” Starmer said, claiming that he will now focus on international affairs and tackling violence against women and girls.
🎯 IMPACT: Starmer’s resignation will trigger a by-election (special election) in his Holborn and St Pancras constituency (electoral district), with the Labour Party set to select a new candidate. Reform has already committed to contesting the seat.
📺 DETAIL: Starmer led the Labour Party into a historic election victory in 2024 after 14 years in opposition. However, he achieved this on a low turnout, with fewer total votes than the party received in 2019, when it was heavily defeated by the formerly governing Conservatives (Tories). His short premiership is attributable largely to a collapse in support for the Tories, who presided over the massive “Boriswave” surge in mass migration under former Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak, despite repeated promises to substantially reduce immigration.

DATA: Majority of Voters Alarmed by Rise of Socialism and Communism in America.

A new poll has revealed that over 60 percent of Americans are concerned about the increasing influence of socialism and communism in the United States, even sparking concerns among a large portion of Democrats.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: A majority of American voters are concerned about the growth of socialism and communism in the United States, according to a new poll.
📺 DETAIL: According to a new poll by Center Square Voters’ Voice Poll, a recurring national opinion poll, 63 percent of Americans are concerned about the rise of socialism and communism in U.S. politics. Specifically, 36 percent are “very concerned” and 27 percent are “somewhat concerned.” Only 13 percent are “not at all concerned,” while 16 percent “aren’t too concerned.” The poll was conducted by Noble Predictive Insights and surveyed 2,533 registered voters across party lines, including 930 Republicans, 930 Democrats, and 673 Independents. This includes 330 “true independents,” i.e. registered Independents who do not lean towards either party. The poll was conducted between August 12 and August 16. The poll’s margin of error is +/- 2.0%. This follows a series of high-profile victories for the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), a far-left political organization, and far-left candidates more broadly in Democrat primaries. Notably, the Center Square Voters’ Voice Poll, 49 percent of Democrats expressed concern about the rise of socialism, while 40 percent were not concerned.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “The Democratic Party is becoming the party of socialism. Fifty-eight percent view socialism positively. 50 percent view capitalism negatively. I’m a proud free market capitalist. This is lunacy,” posted Senator Fetterman (D-PA) on X (formerly Twitter) earlier this month in reference to a similar poll, which revealed that Democrats have a more positive view of socialism than capitalism.
🎯 IMPACT: This poll highlights the growing influence of socialism and communism in the U.S. as advanced by groups like the DSA, as well as DSA-backed Democrats, and DSA-adjacent Democrats, such as Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who officially re-joined the DSA earlier this month. This poll echoes previous findings published throughout the year. Back in July, it was revealed that one-third of Democrats now identify as democratic socialists. However, while it is clear that support for socialism and communism has grown within the Democratic Party, far-left ideologies remain widely unpopular. For instance, despite New York City’s election of Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who is a member of the DSA, a poll published earlier this month found that only 30 percent of people in New York state support the organization.
