E. Jean Carroll, the Trump rape accuser whose main charge against the former President failed in court last month, is set to drag yet another case to trial in early 2024.
Carroll claims Trump raped her at the Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York in the 1990s, and defamed her by denying it. Jurors found Trump was not liable for rape, the central allegation against him, but was liable for sexual abuse and defamation, and should pay Carroll $5 million.
Now the advice columnist wants at least $10 million more after Trump – who is appealing the initial verdict – further derided her allegations during his infamous and recent CNN town hall.
Trump said Carroll’s account of running into him at the entrance of Bergdorf Goodman and ending up “playing hanky-panky in a dressing room” minutes later was ridiculous, calling Carroll a “whack job”.
Carroll has claimed to have been assaulted by numerous men other than Donald Trump, including a babysitter’s boyfriend, a dentist, a camp counselor, an unnamed college date, an unnamed boss, and CBS chief executive Les Moonves. Her lawsuit against Trump was funded by Democrat billionaire Reid Hoffman.
