The publisher of former prime minister Liz Truss’s upcoming book Ten Years to Save The West, gave her an advance of just £1,512.88 (~$1,906) on the publication. By comparison, her predecessor Boris Johnson received a whopping £500,000 advance for his.
Truss is a Member of Parliament (MP) for Britain’s governing Conservative Party, though she started her political career as a Liberal Democrat. She was Prime Minister for just 49 days — the shortest premiership in British history — but was a government minister for a decade, spending much of that time fighting against Brexit and advancing LGBT policies.
After she was forced from office, she repositioned herself as an anti-woke, anti-deep state crusader, and attempted to cultivate an audience of American conservatives at events such as Matt Schlapp‘s CPAC.
However, the small size of the advances offered for her memoirs on both sides of the Atlantic suggests these manoeuvers have not been entirely successful.
