WATCH: Fox News Host Pretends She Doesn’t Know Transgenderism is a Mental Disorder.

Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo appeared to be taken aback recently when Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) referred to transgenderism as a “mental illness.”

Burchett’s comments came during a dialogue focusing on President Biden’s designation of Trans Day of Visibility on Easter Sunday. “You know, this thing is, it’s, it’s a mental illness. We just gotta address it. It’s it’s not a, it’s not a normal type lifestyle, and and, I can’t… be more… against what the president did. And I think it shows, too. He is just trying to secure his base—” Burchett said.

During Burchett’s remarks, Bartiromo acted shocked. “Mental illness?” she interrupted incredulously. After allowing Burchett to finish his thought, Bartiromo said, “And I don’t know what you’re saying in terms of mental illness. I have no idea what you’re talking about in that regard.”

Transgenderism — known clinically as gender dysphoria (GD) — was previously recognized in psychiatry and psychology as a mental disorder called gender identity disorder (GID). GD replaced GID as the preferred term in 2013 with the publication of an updated Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. According to the American Psychiatric Association, “Mental Illness…refers collectively to all diagnosable mental disorders.”

According to the Office of the United States Trade Representative, the section “empowers the President to, among other things, impose duties of up to 50 percent on imports of a foreign country to offset the burden or disadvantage from a foreign country’s unequal imposition on or discrimination against the commerce of the United States.” Only two out of Canada’s 10 provinces did not boycott U.S. alcoholic beverage exports: Alberta and Saskatchewan, neighboring provinces in Canada’s western prairie. The provinces border Montana and North Dakota.

📰 DETAIL: On Monday, Andy Burnham, leader of the governing Labour Party and Member of Parliament (MP) for Makerfield, officially became Prime Minister. Following his first speech as Prime Minister, Burnham set about reshuffling his Cabinet. Among others, Lord Hermer was removed from the Cabinet. He had served as Attorney General, the highest law officer in the United Kingdom, under former Prime Minister and personal friend Sir Keir Starmer, who announced his resignation in late June. Lord Hermer was a central figure in creating and pushing the Chagos Islands deal, which involves handing over the Chagos Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the Indian Ocean, to Mauritius, an ally of China with no real claim to the archipelago. The treaty ceding control of the Islands to Mauritius was signed by the British government last year, although the legislation required to finalize the deal was shelved following widespread backlash, including from President Donald J. Trump. Under the deal, Britain is expected to pay Mauritius over a 99-year period for a lease of Diego Garcia, one of the Islands, which it currently owns outright for free, and which hosts a strategic British-American military base.
🎯 IMPACT: Lord Hermer’s departure suggests a possible change of direction at the Ministry of Justice. Roughly six months ago, President Trump described the deal as “an act of great stupidity.” Last month, the President even offered to buy the Chagos Islands to prevent them from being ceded to Mauritius. Reform UK leader Nigel Farage was reportedly pivotal in influencing the President’s opposition to the deal. Its terms are widely considered bizarre, with Britain paying a foreign state to take away territory it is under no obligation to surrender.
