Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has successfully qualified to be included on the ballot in Texas, adding to his campaign’s expanding list of states. Kennedy’s campaign announced this achievement Monday, citing a collection of almost 250,000 signatures in the course of two months. Texas has one of the nation’s most stringent ballot access requirements, making this a notable win for Kennedy’s team.
Kennedy has secured a place on the ballot in several other states, including Utah, Michigan, California, Delaware, and Oklahoma. Furthermore, his campaign insists it has amassed sufficient signatures for inclusion in New Hampshire, Nevada, Hawaii, North Carolina, Idaho, Nebraska, Iowa, and Ohio.
In the broader context of the race, RealClearPolitics reports that Kennedy’s support averages at 10.8 percent in a five-way competition, including former President Donald Trump, Joe Biden, independent candidate Cornel West, and Jill Stein of the Green Party.
Despite some success with gaining ballot qualifications, the campaign of the independent candidate and Kennedy family scion has not been without controversy. Kennedy was forced to flip-flop recently after saying he was in favor of abortions up until the moment of birth. Earlier this month it was reported that his campaign may be intentionally deceiving voters in order to gain ballot access.
