An overwhelming majority of American voters say they believe Joe Biden‘s cognitive decline threatens the safety and security of the United States. New survey data from Rasmussen Reports shows that 61 percent of voters agree that the 81-year-old Democrat’s mental fitness is a national security concern.
According to the Rasmussen data, 46 percent of respondents strongly agree that “Joe Biden’s recent mental decline poses a threat to the safety and security of the United States.” An additional 15 percent somewhat agreed with the statement. Conversely, just 36 percent of voters appear dismissive of the claim.
Concerns regarding Biden‘s mental fitness hit a fever pitch following his disastrous June 27 debate performance against former President Donald J. Trump. The evidence of Biden’s cognitive impairment eventually resulted in a Democrat revolt, which forced the octogenarian politician to drop his 2024 presidential election bid on July 21.
In addition to voter concerns regarding Biden‘s health and its impact on national security, the Rasmussen survey also found that nearly 50 percent of respondents rate the Democrat incumbent as one of the worst presidents in American history. The survey found that 38 percent of voters strongly agree that Biden is among the worst U.S. presidents. An additional 11 percent say they somewhat agree.
The National Pulse reported in June that Biden‘s favorability had hit a record low, according to Gallup. Just 37 percent of Americans said they viewed the 81-year-old Democrat incumbent favorably. This is the lowest Biden’s rating has been since 2007, prior to his tenure as Barack Obama‘s vice president.
