Introducing Congress’ ‘Three Amigos’ – A Pro-Trump Trio Set to Make Waves.

Brandon Gill, Brian Jack, and Riley Moore, newly elected congressional representatives, have already gained attention among GOP strategists as the “three amigos.” Standing firm on President-elect Donald J. Trump‘s policies, this group of young conservatives is making its presence known on Capitol Hill even before officially taking office.

Riley Moore and Brian Jack emerged victorious in competitive races to secure positions on influential committees. Moore will serve on the Elected Leadership Committee (ELC), while Jack will serve as the freshman class representative on the Steering Committee. Brandon Gill, a former journalist with a conservative background, ran unopposed for the position of freshman class president.

Political analysts note that the trio brings a set of complementary abilities to the table. Riley Moore, a former Capitol Hill staff member and West Virginia’s State Treasurer, possesses extensive experience in policy and legislative procedures. Brian Jack, who has served as an aide to ex-Speaker Kevin McCarthy and former President Trump, offers strong insights into Republican politics and D.C.’s complex political landscape. Brandon Gill, known for his ties to the conservative media, is married to Danielle D’Souza—daughter of conservative intellectual and author Dinesh D’Souza—and founded the D.C. Enquirer before entering politics, positioning him well to advocate for their class in right-leaning media circles.

Their early influence suggests that they are prepared to exert a significant impact in the upcoming Congress. Working together, Gill, Jack, and Moore are set to advance their shared conservative agenda, aligning closely with Trump’s vision. Their presence is expected to be highly visible as they navigate the dynamics of Washington, D.C., and seek to shape policymaking in the House.

AIPAC Appears to be Funding Multiple Sides of a Key Democratic Primary Taking Place TONIGHT.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A Democratic House primary in Illinois is seeing tensions over an ad from a super PAC with ties to AIPAC.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Candidates Bushra Amiwala, Kat Abughazaleh, Daniel Biss, and Laura Fine, along with the Chicago Progressive Partnership, a super PAC linked to AIPAC.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The primary is taking place in the Ninth Congressional District of Illinois, with the election set for Tuesday.

🎯IMPACT: The super PAC appears to be attempting to split progressive votes, a move in tacit support of either Daniel Biss or Laura Fine.

IN FULL

A Democratic primary in Illinois has become a battleground over Israel, with accusations that a super PAC linked to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is attempting to divide progressive candidates through an ad campaign. The ad supports Bushra Amiwala, calling her the “real deal” and declaring that she is fighting for “real economic justice.” However, the television spot has been condemned by Amiwala, as it was paid for by a super PAC called the Chicago Progressive Partnership.

While little is publicly available regarding the super PAC, campaign filings show it shares numerous vendors in common with AIPAC and affiliated groups. This past weekend, Amiwala said that she “absolutely could not be more disgusted” by the Chicago Progressive Partnership campaign ad backing her candidacy.

What appears to be at play, is cynical—but perhaps effective—attempt to split the progressive vote in Illinois’s 9th Congressional District, an open seat following Representative Jan Schakowsky‘s (D-IL) retirement. The actual goal of the Chicago Progressive Partnership appears to be to deprive Kat Abughazaleh—a Palestinian-American and former Media Matters staffer—of at least a fraction of progressive votes in the primary.

In effect, by splitting more radical progressive voters between Amiwala and Abughazaleh, the super PAC would actually be aiding a third progressive candidate, Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss, along with another contender, State Senator Laura Fine. Biss is a grandson of Holocaust survivors and far less militant against Israel compared to the to the other progressive candidates, while Fine is a vocal supporter of Israel. It is notable that another AIPAC-tied group, Elect Chicago Women, has spent significantly in support of Fine in the primary race.

The strategy in Illinois is a marked shift AIPAC’s activities in a New Jersey special election earlier this year. The pro-Israel group blundered in attacking the more moderate Democrat candidate for being insufficiently supportive of the Jewish State, which ended up suppressing the vote to the point that Analilia Mejia—a pro-Palestinian and radical progressive—eked out a 1,100 vote victory.

Leaders of Iranian National Security Council and Islamic Morality Police Reported Dead.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Israel announced it killed two senior Iranian security officials in overnight strikes.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Iranian officials Ali Larijani and Gen. Gholam Reza Soleimani, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.

📍WHEN & WHERE: March 17, 2026, overnight strikes targeting Iran.

💬KEY QUOTE: “We are undermining this regime to give the Iranian people the opportunity to remove it.” – Benjamin Netanyahu

🎯IMPACT: The killings strip Iran of key leaders amid ongoing conflict with the U.S. and Israel.

IN FULL

Israel claims it has killed Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, and General Gholam Reza Soleimani, head of the Basij paramilitary morality police, in overnight strikes. If confirmed, the killings represent another major blow to the regime’s leadership, with Larijani, in particular, having appeared to be the regime’s de facto frontman since the killing of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Notably, Khamenei’s son and official successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, has not been seen in public since he assumed the role of Supreme Leader, with reports suggesting he has been “disfigured” in a strike and may even be dead.

The Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, confirmed the operation against Larijani and Soleimani, stating that both figures were “eliminated last night.” Larijani and Soleimani were instrumental in Iran’s brutal crackdown on protests earlier this year.

Despite its losses, Iran is continuing to launch missiles and drones at its Gulf Arab neighbors and Israel, as well as shipping in the critical Strait of Hormuz. This has impacted global energy and fertilizer markets and caused disruptions in targeted territories like Dubai, which temporarily closed its airspace on Tuesday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said of the ongoing U.S.-Israeli strikes, “We are undermining this regime to give the Iranian people the opportunity to remove it. It won’t happen quickly or easily, but if we persist, they will have the chance to take their destiny into their own hands.”

There is growing disquiet in the United States as the conflict drags on on casualties rise, however, with Joe Kent, the now-former Director of the National Counterterrorism Center resigning from his post on Tuesday, on grounds that “Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”

BREAKING: U.S. Counterterror Chief, 11-Time Combat Veteran Joe Kent RESIGNS Over Iran War.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Joe Kent resigned from his position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Joe Kent, former twice-Trump-endorsed Congressional candidate.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Effective immediately, announced on X.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran.” – Joe Kent

🎯IMPACT: Highlights dissent over U.S. foreign policy and potential influence of external lobbies.

IN FULL

Joe Kent, former Trump-endorsed Congressional candidate, has resigned from his role as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center. His resignation comes as a protest against the ongoing war in Iran.

Kent announced his decision on the social media platform X, stating, “After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.”

He expressed his inability to support the war, citing that Iran posed no imminent threat to the United States and suggesting that the conflict was initiated due to external pressures.

Kent’s statement noted, “It is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”

Despite his resignation, Kent acknowledged the honor of serving under the current administration and leading the professionals at the NCTC, concluding with a blessing for America.

Here’s his full letter to President Trump:

President Trump,

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.

I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.

I support the values and the foreign policies that you campaigned on in 2016, 2020, 2024, which you enacted in your first term. Until June of 2025, you understood that the wars in the Middle East were a trap that robbed America of the precious lives of our patriots and depleted the wealth and prosperity of our nation.

In your first administration, you understood better than any modern President how to decisively apply military power without getting us drawn into never-ending wars. You demonstrated this by killing Qasam Solamani and by defeating ISIS.

Early in this administration, high-ranking Israeli officials and influential members of the American media deployed a misinformation campaign that wholly undermined your America First platform and sowed pro-war sentiments to encourage a war with Iran. This echo chamber was used to deceive you into believing that Iran posed an imminent threat to the United States, and that should you strike now, there was a clear path to a swift victory. This was a lie and is the same tactic the Israelis used to draw us into the disastrous Iraq war that cost our nation the lives of thousands of our best men and women. We cannot make this mistake again.

As a veteran who deployed to combat 11 times and as a Gold Star husband who lost my beloved wife Shannon in a war manufactured by Israel, I cannot support sending the next generation off to fight and die in a war that serves no benefit to the American people nor justifies the cost of American lives.

I pray that you will reflect upon what we are doing in Iran, and who we are doing it for. The time for bold action is now. You can reverse course and chart a new path for our nation, or you can allow us to slip further toward decline and chaos. You hold the cards.

It was an honor to serve in your administration and to serve our great nation.

Joseph Kent
Director, National Counterterrorism Center

It Gets Worse, as RATS May Replace Churchill on Banknotes.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) has suggested that urban animals, such as pigeons, rats, and seagulls, should feature on redesigned English banknotes.

💬KEY QUOTE: “What about the pigeons who have been our friends for thousands of years, or rats, with their amazing memories, or even gulls, with their amazing levels of intelligence?” – Geoff Edmond, RSPCA.

🎯IMPACT: The Bank of England has not yet finalized its designs, but plans to replace historic Britons such as Sir Winston Churchill and Jane Austen with wildlife, claiming this will improve anti-counterfeiting measures.

IN FULL

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) has proposed featuring urban creatures such as rats, pigeons, and seagulls on the next series of English banknotes. This follows the Bank of England’s announcement that it will replace historic Britons, including Sir Winston Churchill, with images of native wildlife on future notes.

The animal welfare charity welcomed the shift toward celebrating British nature but urged recognition for species that are often “overlooked” and “misunderstood.” Geoff Edmond of the RSPCA said, “Showcasing our native wildlife on everyday banknotes is a wonderful way to celebrate the animals that we share our towns, cities and countryside with—including the ones who don’t always make the ‘most popular’ lists.”

Reform Party leader Nigel Farage has branded the move to remove Churchill from banknotes “the definition of woke” and “absolutely crackers,” and even Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey argued that Churchill deserved “better than being replaced by a badger.”

The Bank of England claims it selected wildlife as the theme because it is more difficult to counterfeit, although it is not especially obvious why an image of a rat should be harder to counterfeit than an image of Churchill.

The Bank has not yet confirmed which specific animals will appear on the new notes, although concept designs have featured beavers, stags, robins, and red squirrels. The RSPCA has put forward its own mock-up designs, suggesting a pigeon for the £5 note, a fox on the £10, a gull on the £20, and a rat on the £50.

SCOTUS Pauses ‘TPS’ Trump Deportations, Will Rule by June.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The U.S. Supreme Court temporarily blocked the Trump administration from deporting Syrians and Haitians under Temporary Protected Status (TPS) while expediting arguments for April.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The Trump administration, Solicitor General D. John Sauer, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The decision was issued Monday, with arguments set for April, and a ruling expected by the end of June.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Given lower courts’ persistent disregard for this court’s actions in other TPS cases.” – Solicitor General D. John Sauer

🎯IMPACT: The Supreme Court’s decision will determine the future of TPS designations and the validity of claims by TPS holders.

IN FULL

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday temporarily blocked the Trump administration from deporting 6,000 Syrians and 350,000 Haitians who were granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) under Presidents Obama, Biden, and Trump himself. The court also expedited arguments for April, with a decision expected by the end of June.

Federal law allows presidents to grant TPS to individuals from countries experiencing armed conflict, natural disasters, or other extraordinary circumstances.

President Trump seeks to end TPS for individuals from 13 countries, including Myanmar, Nepal, Honduras, Nicaragua, Afghanistan, and Venezuela, among others.

The Trump administration requested the Supreme Court to block lower court orders that continued TPS for Syrians and Haitians.

Syrians have been eligible for TPS since 2012, during the Obama administration, due to the ongoing conflict under Bashar al-Assad. Trump extended their status in 2018. Haitians have qualified since 2010, following a devastating earthquake and subsequent political unrest. Biden extended their status in 2021.

Last year, then-Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced plans to revoke TPS for Haiti and Syria, citing that neither country met the program’s requirements.

A ruling is expected by late June.

U.S. Wounded Count Tops 200 Across 7 Countries.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Over 200 U.S. troops have been wounded in the ongoing U.S.-Israeli campaign against Iran.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: U.S. troops, Iran, and U.S. Central Command, with statements from Navy Capt. Tim Hawkins and Gen. Dan Caine.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The campaign began three weeks ago, affecting U.S. troops in Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

💬KEY QUOTE: “U. S. and partner strikes are doing exactly what they are intended to do: Deliver on very clear military objectives to eliminate Iran’s ability to project power against Americans and against its neighbors,” said Adm. Charles “Brad” Cooper.

🎯IMPACT: The campaign has resulted in significant military actions, with over 7,000 targets hit in Iran by U.S. forces.

IN FULL

The number of U.S. troops injured in the U.S.-Israeli campaign against Iran has surpassed 200, according to a statement by Navy Capt. Tim Hawkins, the chief spokesman for U.S. Central Command. This figure provides the most detailed account yet of the risks faced by American personnel.

Hawkins noted that U.S. troops have been wounded in several countries, including Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. He stated that most injuries occurred in the early days of the conflict, with over 180 troops having returned to duty.

The injuries have been primarily linked to Iran’s missile and drone attacks, which were launched in response to President Donald Trump’s military campaign against Iran. The U.S. has focused its recent strikes on Iranian missile launchers and drone facilities to reduce Iran’s retaliatory capabilities.

On Monday, President Trump said he was “shocked” by Iran lashing out at its regional neighbors.

Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, highlighted that most injuries were caused by one-way attack drones. He confirmed that many of the wounded have returned to duty, with injuries reported in various locations across the region.

Seven U.S. troops lost their lives in Iranian attacks, while six more tragically passed away last week when a KC-135 refueling plane crashed in Iraq. U.S. military officials have confirmed that this unfortunate incident was an accident involving another aircraft.

Another Illegal Alien Trucker Leaves a U.S. Citizen in Critical Condition.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: An illegal alien truck driver was accused of causing a crash that left a U.S. citizen in critical condition in Indianapolis, Indiana.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Sukhdev Singh, a 25-year-old illegal alien, and a U.S. citizen pedestrian.

📍WHEN & WHERE: March 6, at E Raymond Street and I-65 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

💬KEY QUOTE: “It is common sense: illegal aliens should not be operating 18-wheelers on American highways.” – DHS Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis

🎯IMPACT: Renewed scrutiny on state policies allowing illegal immigrants to obtain commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs).

IN FULL

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested Sukhdev Singh, an illegal immigrant truck driver accused of causing a crash that left a U.S. citizen in critical condition in Indianapolis, Indiana. The incident occurred on March 6 at E Raymond Street and I-65, where Singh allegedly struck a pedestrian.

Indiana State Police responded to the scene and took Singh into custody, contacting ICE when they discovered the truck driver was an illegal immigrant. ICE officials later confirmed Singh’s arrest and stated that he will remain in custody pending the outcome of his immigration proceedings. The victim was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition as of the latest update.

Singh, who held a commercial driver’s license (CDL) issued by Democrat-run New York, has drawn renewed attention to state policies regarding the issuance of CDLs to illegal immigrants. The National Pulse reported last December that U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Sean Duffy had warned New York it could lose $73 million in federal highway funding following a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) audit which revealed that 53 percent of sampled CDLs issued by the New York Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) were unlawfully granted to foreign nationals residing in the U.S. illegally.

In February, the Trump administration moved to shut down an estimated 8,000 sham truck driving schools that served as conduits for illegal immigrants to obtain CDLs. The FMCSA has found that, in that month alone, 550 CDL truck driving schools and training facilities violated its standards.

“It is common sense: illegal aliens should not be operating 18-wheelers on American highways,” Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement, continuing, “We are praying this individual makes a full recovery. It is incredibly dangerous for illegal aliens, who often don’t know our traffic laws or even English, to be operating 18-wheelers on America’s roads.”

“Sanctuary governors like Kathy Hochul must stop giving illegal aliens driver’s licenses before even more Americans get injured or killed,” Bis added.

New York Post Reveals How Migrants Are Voting in U.S. Elections.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A detailed investigation published by the New York Post reveals systemic failures in America’s voter registration and electoral system have allowed for hundreds of thousands of noncitizens to register as voters in U.S. elections.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Donald J. Trump, Representative Chip Roy (R-TX), Public Interest Legal Foundation president J. Christian Adams, and noncitizen voters.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The report was published on March 16, 2026.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I wish it were a conspiracy plot because it would be easier to bust. This is systemic failure.”  – J. Christian Adams

🎯IMPACT: President Donald J. Trump is pushing the SAVE America Act, legislation aiming to mandate proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration in federal elections. However, the bill is stalled in the Senate, unable to overcome a Democrat filibuster.

IN FULL

A detailed investigation published by the New York Post reveals systemic failures in America’s voter registration and electoral system that have allowed hundreds of thousands of noncitizens to register to vote in U.S. elections. While allegations of concerted efforts by Democrat-aligned nonprofits and electioneering groups seeking to register noncitizens have dominated headlines, The Post has found that government-sanctioned voter registration programs, a lack of election law enforcement, and a lack of awareness on the part of noncitizens are more often at fault for illegal registrations.

“At times, it’s an organic process of aliens getting sucked in unwittingly. Maybe they’d been whipping down Modelos [beers] at a festival, and they’re doing some guy a favor who is in their face with a clipboard. Or, they’re at the DMV and get these pop-up windows asking them to register. They think, ‘I must be allowed,’” J. Christian Adams, president of Public Interest Legal Foundation, explained. “I wish it were a conspiracy plot because it would be easier to bust. This is systemic failure.”

“It’s way worse than the left says, but it’s way better than some others say,” Adams suggested.

The breakdowns in election law and procedures meant to prevent noncitizens from registering to vote and casting ballots in American elections may occur primarily at the local level. Database glitches, human error, and negligence are most often cited as the cause for noncitizens appearing on voter rolls. This is compounded by a general lack of awareness and confusion among noncitizens, who, as Adams noted, are often presented with the option to register to vote when filing paperwork at their local DMV, despite this being illegal.

Concerningly, data published by Rasmussen Reports in 2024 suggests a significant number of noncitizens are voting in American elections in contravention of federal law. According to the pollster, 97 percent of noncitizens polled acknowledged having voted for a candidate in the 2020 presidential election. In one survey, Rasmussen Reports polled 2,466 likely U.S. voters, of whom 222 either stated they were noncitizens or did not know their citizenship status—meaning 10 percent of the sample had questionable voting eligibility.

The potential impact that noncitizen voters could have in U.S. elections—especially local contests or races with very narrow margins of victory—has become a top issue for American voters. Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill are pushing the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE America) Act, legislation aiming to mandate proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration in federal elections.

Proponents, including President Donald J. Trump and Representative Chip Roy (R-TX), argue the measure is essential to protect election integrity. However, the bill is currently stalled in the Senate, unable to overcome a Democrat filibuster. Polling shows over 70 percent of voters support the SAVE Act, including half of Democrats.

Rasmussen: 61% Say Iran Strikes ‘Successful.’

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A recent Rasmussen Reports survey found that nearly two-thirds of American voters view the ongoing military operation against Iran as a success, though doubts remain about the United States’ alliance with Israel.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: 1,098 likely U.S. voters, as surveyed by Rasmussen Reports.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The survey was conducted nationally via telephone and online, from March 8-10, 2026.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The ongoing U.S. war against Iran is viewed as a success by most voters, although many have doubts about America’s military alliance with Israel.” – Rasmussen Reports

🎯IMPACT: The survey suggests the public believes President Donald J. Trump’s strikes on Iran are succeeding, but also reveals increasing skepticism toward American relations with Israel.

IN FULL

A new voter survey released by Rasmussen Reports has found that nearly two-thirds of American voters see President Donald J. Trump‘s authorization of U.S. military operations against the Islamic Republic of Iran as successful. According to the poll, 61 percent of likely American voters believe Operation Epic Fury has been successful so far, with 35 percent of respondents rating the strikes as “Very Successful.”

“The ongoing U.S. war against Iran is viewed as a success by most voters, although many have doubts about America’s military alliance with Israel,” Rasmussen Reports said of the poll, which was conducted between March 8 and 10, surveying 1,098 likely U.S. voters.

Twenty-nine percent of likely voters surveyed said they do not consider the military operation as successful, including 12 percent who describe the strikes as “Not At All Successful.” An additional 11 percent remain unsure about the operation’s effectiveness.

Meanwhile, the data found that a majority of likely voters neither see the U.S. alliance with Israel as good nor as bad for America. According to the survey, just 44 percent of respondents said the alliance is good for the United States, while 36 percent said it is not good. Notably, 20 percent said they were unsure.

The view of U.S.-Israeli relations becomes more stark when broken down along partisan identification. Rasmussen Reports found that just 26 percent of Democrats view the alliance as good for America, while 53 percent said it is bad. Among Republicans, 70 percent said the alliance with Israel is good for the U.S., while just 19 percent said it is bad. Independent voters split nearly evenly on the issue, with 38 percent saying it is good, and 35 percent describing the alliance as bad for America.

WATCH: ‘I Can Do Anything I Want With It’ — Trump Predicts He Will Have ‘The Honor’ of ‘Taking Cuba.’

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald J. Trump has predicted that he will be the American leader to have “the honor” of finally “taking Cuba.”

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: U.S. President Donald J. Trump, Cuban exiles, and the Communist Party of Cuba.

📍WHEN & WHERE: March 16, 2026, in the Oval Office.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I do believe I’ll be having the honor of taking Cuba. That’s a big honor.” – President Trump

🎯IMPACT: Trump’s comments add to the rising speculation that his administration is preparing to topple Cuba’s communist regime, which is reeling from an energy crisis caused by the removal of Marxist dictator Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela, which was Cuba’s chief source of oil.

IN FULL

President Donald J. Trump told the press he expects to be the U.S. leader who finally has “the honor” of “taking Cuba” in comments in the Oval Office on Monday. “A lot of Cubans have said, oh boy, would they love to go back… It’s a beautiful island; great weather,” he said, adding, “All my life I’ve been hearing about the United States and Cuba, ‘When will the United States do it?’ I do believe I’ll be having the honor of taking Cuba. That’s a big honor.”

When asked by a reporter to clarify his remarks, Trump confirmed, “Taking Cuba, in some form, yeah,” emphasizing, “I mean, whether I free it, take it, I think I can do anything I want with it, if you wanna know the truth. They’re a very weakened nation right now.” Notably, Cuba is currently experiencing an energy crisis, precipitated by the U.S. ouster of Marxist dictator Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela, which was the communist-led island’s main source of oil.

Residents in central Cuba partially destroyed a local communist party headquarters during a protest over energy and food shortages over the weekend, underscoring the growing strain the regime is facing. The country’s leadership is already in talks with the Trump administration—at the same time as the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is building a criminal case against them.

Trump’s comments on Monday follow comments earlier this month predicting “Cuba’s going to fall” and mulling the possibility of a “friendly takeover.”
