A group of transgender and LGBTQ activists are protesting House Speaker Mike Johnson’s decision that men only use men’s bathrooms and women use women’s in House Capitol and office buildings. Earlier this week, trans activists held an impromptu dance party in a women’s bathroom at the Capitol, contravening Johnson’s ruling.
In a video posted to social media, numerous individuals can be seen dancing and parading around the women’s bathroom—with some clearly being men and others transgender, plus a handful of possibly genuinely female “allies.”

In November, Speaker Johnson announced he would implement a new rule that those using bathrooms in House-controlled premises can only enter facilities corresponding to their biological sex. The move was prompted by legislation introduced by Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC), which initially sought to ban men from using women’s bathrooms and vice versa on Capitol Hill. This was later substituted for a bill implementing such a ban on all federal property.
The legislation, introduced by Mace, has drawn violent threats from members of the transgender community. The National Pulse previously reported that transgender activist ‘Venus Andromeda’ posted a series of crazed vidoes against Mace, fantasizing about attacking the lawmaker in a women’s bathroom and beating her to death.
