UK Aid Used to Fund Kenyan Sex Chatbot.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A sex chatbot for Kenyan youth was funded by British taxpayers, aiming to improve sexual health but reportedly failing to achieve its dubious goals.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) funded the project under the Ideas to Impact programme.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The chatbot was funded in 2019 in Kenya, with the project being part of a larger British foreign aid scheme.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I remember a time when money sent abroad was meant to help irrigate and farm the land in poorer countrie… Whoever dreamt up this idea needs sacking.” – Lee Anderson, Member of Parliament (MP) for Nigel Farage’s Reform Party.

🎯IMPACT: The chatbot did not lead to increased contraception use.

IN FULL

A “pleasure-oriented” sex chatbot aimed at Kenyan young adults was funded with British taxpayer money through a British foreign aid initiative. While intended to promote better sexual health outcomes and an increase in the use of contraception, an academic evaluation found its impact in these areas was negligible.

The project formed part of a £41 million (~$55.2m) British foreign aid program dedicated to exploring “radical technology solutions” for challenges in developing countries. Lawmakers, however, raised concerns about prioritizing taxpayer funds for such efforts.

Shadow Foreign Secretary Priti Patel, a previous International Development Secretary, condemned the expenditure, declaring: “Britain is a country, not a charity. In this ever-changing world UK Aid must serve our national interest.” However, her Conservative Party oversaw high spending on foreign aid for years before its ouster by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour Party in 2024, and was in power when the chatbot was funded.

“I remember a time when money sent abroad was meant to help irrigate and farm the land in poorer countries,” commented Lee Anderson, a Member of Parliament (MP) for Nigel Farage’s Reform Party. “British taxpayers’ money should not be being wasted on these ridiculous schemes. Whoever dreamt up this idea needs sacking.”

The chatbot was supposedly intended to promote safer sex practices in Kenya, a country grappling with one of the world’s most severe HIV epidemics. However, while Kenyan youth showed engagement with pleasure-related content, the tool did not lead to greater adoption of contraception.

Even so, the pilot was labeled “promising,” prompting discussions about potential additional funding. The FCDO declined to specify the precise amount spent on the chatbot from taxpayer funds, claiming that it would be inappropriate to comment on past funding decisions.

The Iran War is Forcing China to Hike Fuel Surcharges for Domestic Flights.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Chinese airlines are increasing fuel surcharges on domestic flights due to rising oil prices.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Air China, China Southern, Xiamen Airlines, Spring Airlines, Juneyao Airlines, Cathay Pacific

📍WHEN & WHERE: Starting Sunday, across China

🎯IMPACT: The Islamic Republic of Iran’s ongoing disruption of oil tanker and other shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has wreaked havoc on fuel and energy prices across Asia, with many nations imposing strict rationing measures.

IN FULL

Continued volatility in Asian energy markets is forcing several Chinese airlines to raise fuel surcharges on domestic flights. Air China, China Southern, and Xiamen Airlines announced that, starting Sunday, all domestic flights within a 500-mile radius will have a 60 yuan (~$8.70) surcharge added to each ticket. For longer flights, passengers will have to pay a 120 yuan (~$17.40) surcharge.

Several other Chinese airlines, including Spring Airlines and Juneyao Airlines, subsequently announced they would also increase surcharges to offset rising fuel prices. Notably, Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific recently raised its fuel surcharge by 34 percent.

The National Pulse reported in mid-March that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ongoing disruption of oil tanker and shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has wreaked havoc on fuel and energy prices across Asia. Countries like Vietnam, China, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea are being hit especially hard by disruptions to oil tankers passing through the strait.

In response to the energy supply crunch, many Asian nations have imposed strict rationing measures. China, which accounted for 80 to 90 percent of Iran’s oil sales, has been forced to increase its price cap on gasoline and diesel.

Meanwhile, in an address to the nation on the evening of April 1, U.S. President Donald J. Trump stated that the U.S. military operation against Iran, which commenced a month ago, has nearly achieved its core objectives, but added that there will be two to three weeks of more military activity. During his speech, President Trump emphasized the responsibility of other nations, particularly those reliant on oil passing through the Strait of Hormuz, to ensure their own security.

Vance Anti-Fraud Task Force Suspends 221 California Healthcare Providers Over Suspected Corruption.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A crackdown by Vice President J.D. Vance’s anti-fraud task force has led to the suspension of 221 healthcare providers in Los Angeles for suspected fraud.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Vice President J.D. Vance, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and other federal authorities, SWAT teams, and California healthcare providers.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Early Thursday morning in Los Angeles, California, with ongoing efforts expected.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The Administration’s War on Fraud once again yields results as more suspensions take place and fraudsters face justice for ripping off hard-working Americans and stealing their tax dollars and social services.” – Vance spokesman

🎯IMPACT: The task force has uncovered significant fraud, with suspensions increasing by over 215 percent in one week and expectations of more action to come.

IN FULL

At least 221 healthcare providers in Los Angeles, California, have had their operations suspended as of Thursday after the federal anti-fraud task force led by Vice President J.D. Vance found widespread evidence of corruption. The latest total of suspended healthcare providers marks a significant increase of over 215 percent from the 70 providers whose operations were halted last week. Federal authorities, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and SWAT teams, conducted raids early Thursday morning as part of the operation.

“The Administration’s War on Fraud once again yields results as more suspensions take place and fraudsters face justice for ripping off hard-working Americans and stealing their tax dollars and social services,” a spokesman for Vice President Vance stated. Notably, the Trump administration has indicated that it expects the number of suspensions to continue to rise significantly in the coming weeks.

Arrests have already been made in the anti-fraud operation, which has predominantly targeted hospice care facilities and home health providers, including two individuals accused of orchestrating $7 million in fraudulent activity. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz highlighted the speed of the task force’s progress, stating, “In 10 weeks, we’re getting close to what Governor Newsom did in four years.”

The National Pulse reported in January that President Donald J. Trump revealed he suspects that California is “more corrupt than Minnesota.” Notably, federal prosecutors have suggested the systemic social services fraud tied to Minnesota’s Somali immigrant community could top $9 billion.

Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) has denied claims of insufficient action on fraud, asserting that his administration has blocked $125 billion in fraud and made numerous arrests. Newsom’s former chief of staff, Dana Williamson, was arrested by the FBI last November and currently faces federal charges for public corruption.

Trump Confirms Bondi is Out at DOJ.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald J. Trump has fired Attorney General Pam Bondi.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Trump, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, and Environmental Protection Agency Director Lee Zeldin.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The decision reportedly occurred Wednesday night in the Oval Office before Trump’s speech on Iran.

💬KEY QUOTE: “We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General.” – President Trump

🎯IMPACT: The firing comes amid reports of dissatisfaction with Bondi’s performance, with Lee Zeldin being considered as a potential replacement.

IN FULL

UPDATE: President Trump has confirmed Pam Bondi’s ouster in a Truth Social post, writing that she “did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900.” He added that she will be “transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General.”

Original report continues below:

President Donald J. Trump reportedly dismissed Attorney General Pam Bondi during a meeting in the Oval Office on Wednesday night, according to two sources familiar with the situation. Bondi is said to have been notified of her removal before Trump delivered a speech on the war in Iran on Wednesday.

One source said that by the time the President gave his address, Bondi had already been ousted and was heading back to Florida. The reported firing came on the same day she had accompanied Trump to the U.S. Supreme Court for oral arguments as the administration attempts to overturn birthright citizenship.

Reports indicate Trump is considering Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Director Lee Zeldin as Bondi’s replacement. Trump and Zeldin met on Tuesday to discuss the possible transition, although no final decision has been made.

The reported dismissal follows a New York Times article that said Trump had grown dissatisfied with Bondi’s performance and was preparing to replace her. In recent weeks, Bondi has faced mounting criticism over the influence of Republican attorney and lobbyist Mike Davis regarding Department of Justice (DOJ) antitrust cases.

The National Pulse previously reported that the House Judiciary Committee opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the ouster of Assistant Attorney General Gail Slater—a staunch populist ally of President Trump—who oversaw the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division.

Numerous sources close to the Antitrust Division and lobbying operations in Washington, D.C., who spoke with The National Pulse, claim Davis oversaw a public relations campaign targeting Slater on behalf of alleged clients, including Compass, Hewlett-Packard (HP), and Live Nation.

U.S. Lifts Sanctions on Venezuela’s New President, Opening Door to Oil Deal.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The United States has lifted sanctions against interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: U.S. Treasury, interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez, Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Announced on April 2, 2026, in the United States.

💬KEY QUOTE: “We trust that this progress will allow for the lifting of the sanctions currently in place on our country, enabling the building and guaranteeing of an effective bilateral cooperation agenda for the benefit of our peoples.” – Delcy Rodríguez

🎯IMPACT: Rodríguez’s government is set to assume control of U.S. subsidiaries of PDVSA, and the U.S. will sell Venezuelan oil with investment reforms in place.

IN FULL

The United States removed sanctions against interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez on Wednesday, less than three months after U.S. forces ‌captured now-former President Nicolas Maduro. “We trust that this progress will allow for the lifting of the sanctions currently in place on our country, enabling the building and guaranteeing of an effective bilateral cooperation agenda for the benefit of our peoples,” Rodríguez wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The lifting of sanctions, announced by the U.S. Treasury, follows earlier reports that Rodríguez’s administration is preparing to assume control of the U.S. subsidiaries of PDVSA, Venezuela’s state oil firm, such as Citgo Petroleum.

This also follows an agreement between the U.S. and Venezuela that allows the former to sell the latter’s oil and ensures investment-friendly reforms to Venezuela’s mining and oil sectors. In late January, Secretary of State Marco Rubio outlined U.S. plans to control Venezuela’s oil trade to fund basic government services. “The funds from that will be deposited into an account that we will have oversight over,” Rubio said.

Following her recognition as interim leader, Rodríguez has also been given the go-ahead by the U.S. to reopen ‌embassies and consulates, as well as regain control of Venezuela-owned foreign companies. She will reportedly travel to the U.S. to meet with President Donald J. Trump, marking her first in-person meeting with another head of state since assuming her position.

Texas Rep Brandon Gill Endorses Ken Paxton in Senate Race.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Congressman Brandon Gill (R-TX) endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton over Texas Senator John Cornyn for in the Republican primary race in the Lone Star State.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Congressman Brandon Gill, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, and Senator John Cornyn.

📍WHEN & WHERE: April 2, 2026, in Texas.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The Senate needs serious change; and a great place to start is by electing Ken Paxton.” – Brandon Gill

🎯IMPACT: The endorsement is a significant primary challenge for incumbent Senator Cornyn, focusing on issues like immigration and the SAVE America Act.

IN FULL

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has received a crucial endorsement from Texas Congressman Brandon Gill in his primary race against incumbent Senator John Cornyn. In particular, Gill criticized the current Senate’s inability to pass the SAVE America Act, despite widespread public support. “To enact President Trump’s agenda, the Senate needs serious change; and a great place to start is by electing Ken Paxton,” Gill said.

Gill praised Paxton as a “battle-hardened conservative” who has been a steadfast supporter of President Donald J. Trump and has fought for election integrity and against open borders. In contrast, he noted, “Senator Cornyn has a long history of support for amnesty that lasts to the present day,” adding: “Going all the way back to 2003, Cornyn introduced an immigration reform bill that… would have provided amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, while also creating individual investment accounts funded by payroll taxes for those newly-amnestied aliens.”

Gill also noted how Cornyn had “decried ‘extremists’ who wanted to ‘build a wall’ that would stop the flow of illegal aliens”—a signature Trump policy.

In conclusion, Gill urged Texans to elect Paxton, emphasizing the importance of having a Senator who recognizes the urgency of America’s situation and that “Americans are losing their country.”

Paxton, in turn, said he was “honored to be endorsed by one of the most fearless and effective fighters in all of Congress,” calling Gill “an absolute champion for the conservative movement and the American people.”

Appeals Court Orders Tina Peters to Be Resentenced, Citing First Amendment Concerns.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The Colorado Court of Appeals upheld the conviction of Tina Peters for election interference, but ordered a review of her nine-year prison sentence over its harsh nature and potential First Amendment concerns.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Tina Peters, Colorado Court of Appeals, Colorado Attorney General’s Office, Governor Jared Polis (D-CO), and President Donald J. Trump.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The announcement was made by the Colorado Attorney General’s Office on April 2, 2026.

🎯IMPACT: The court ordered a re-evaluation of Peters’ sentence due to First Amendment concerns.

IN FULL

The Colorado Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters, 70, who was found guilty of election interference for allowing unauthorized access to voting machines following the 2020 presidential election. However, the court also ordered a review of Peters’s nine-year prison sentence on First Amendment grounds.

Notably, the decision, announced on Thursday by the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, means there could be a significant reduction in Peters’s jail time. The former Mesa County Clerk was sentenced to nine years in prison in October 2024.

Governor Jared Polis (D-CO) has previously suggested that Peters‘ nine-year sentence might have been excessively harsh. Meanwhile,  President Donald J. Trump has been advocating for the release of the 70-year-old Peters, having pardoned her late last year. However, presidential pardons do not apply to state charges, and the court rejected the Peters pardon this week.

Senate Unanimously Approves DHS Funding – But Now It Must Pass the House.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The U.S. Senate unanimously passed a bill to partially reopen the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with the funding deal now advancing to the House for approval.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), and members of Congress in both chambers.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The Senate vote took place on Thursday in Washington, D.C., as Congress approaches a two-week recess.

🎯IMPACT: The bill’s passage signals a potential resolution to the partial government shutdown, contingent on further action by the House.

IN FULL

The U.S. Senate unanimously approved a bill on Thursday to partially reopen the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), marking a step toward ending the longest-ever partial government shutdown. Last week, House Republicans rejected a nearly identical funding bill over its failure to include appropriations for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) deportation operations. However, on Wednesday, President Donald J. Trump assured Republican lawmakers that DHS immigration enforcement operations will be funded through the end of his term in a second budget reconciliation bill he intends to sign by June 1.

With the deal’s adoption by the Senate, the DHS funding bill will now be sent back to the House for consideration. Still, the timeline for a House vote remains unclear, as lawmakers are currently on a two-week recess. Despite this, brief “pro forma” sessions continue on Capitol Hill, meaning Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) could bring the bill to the floor for adoption by unanimous consent, barring any objections.

Notably, the Senate vote follows a joint statement issued on Wednesday by Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and Speaker Johnson laying out their plan for a two-step process to reopen DHS and fund ICE and CBP. Earlier in the day, President Trump announced that his administration was working with Republican lawmakers to craft a new budget reconciliation bill to fund the immigration enforcement operations and deportation actions, with the reconciliation process allowing the Senate to effectively circumvent the Democrat filibuster blocking the funding.

Paul Dans Picks Up Major Endorsement in Bid to Oust Lindsey Graham.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Former U.S. Border Patrol Commander-at-Large Gregory Bovino is backing Project 2025 architect and former Trump administration official Paul Dans in his primary challenge against neoconservative Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC).

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Gregory Bovino, Paul Dans, Sen. Lindsey Graham, and South Carolina voters.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Bovino’s endorsement was announced at the end of March after a meeting with Dans.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Paul, you’re a thoughtful patriot who cares deeply about family, community safety and restoring America. You are needed in SC – I fully endorse you!! Good luck, sir!” — Gregory Bovino

🎯IMPACT: The endorsement is likely to increase Dans’s standing with MAGA voters opposed to illegal immigration, and starkly contrasts with Sen. Graham’s pro-amnesty, pro-mass immigration positions.

IN FULL

Former U.S. Border Patrol Commander-at-Large Gregory Bovino is backing Project 2025 architect and former Trump administration official Paul Dans‘s primary challenge against neoconservative Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC). Bovino, who retired from the Border Patrol at the end of March after his removal earlier this year from leading immigration enforcement operations in Minnesota, recently met with Dans, where the latter emphasized his commitment to deporting all illegal immigrants.

“Paul, you’re a thoughtful patriot who cares deeply about family, community safety and restoring America,” Bovino wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He added, “You are needed in SC – I fully endorse you!! Good luck, sir!”

The former chief of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 effort to staff the second Trump administration, Dans announced his primary challenge against Graham—a 23-year incumbent—last July in Charleston, South Carolina.

“What we’ve done with Project 2025 is really change the game in terms of closing the door on the progressive era. If you look at where the chokepoint is, it’s the United States Senate. That’s the headwaters of the swamp,” Dans said at the time, while singling out Sen. Graham as a central figure in the political establishment’s obstruction of the MAGA agenda: “It’s time to show him the door.”

Notably, Bovino was a key force within President Donald J. Trump’s immigration enforcement initiatives, directing operations in major urban areas including Los Angeles, Chicago, and New Orleans. In Los Angeles, the “Operation Trojan Horse” effort resulted in more than 5,000 arrests, while “Operation Midway Blitz” in Chicago led to over 3,000 arrests. Bovino often deployed alongside agents in person, tangling with pro-illegal immigrant agitators hand-to-hand.

ActBlue Faces DOJ Investigation for Misleading Congress About Foreign Donation Vetting.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: ActBlue is under investigation for potentially misleading Congress about its vetting of foreign donations.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: ActBlue executives, Covington & Burling law firm, Regina Wallace-Jones, and congressional Republicans.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Investigations began in early 2025, with events unfolding through 2026.

💬KEY QUOTE: There was “a substantial risk that some of the funds received were impermissible contributions from foreign nationals,” noted Covington & Burling.

🎯IMPACT: The investigations and internal turmoil could destabilize Democratic fundraising efforts ahead of the midterm elections.

IN FULL

ActBlue, the leading Democrat fundraising platform, is now under heavy scrutiny from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Republican lawmakers in Congress. The pressure follows a warning from its own law firm that CEO Regina Wallace-Jones may have misled Congress about how thoroughly the organization screened foreign donations.

In a 2023 letter sent to Republican investigators, Wallace-Jones stated that ActBlue operated a “multilayered” screening process designed to block foreign contributions. However, the law firm Covington & Burling, working for ActBlue, later determined that these procedures were not consistently applied. Internal memos from the lawyers noted that, for instance, donors who paid via third-party apps like Apple Pay, PayPal, and Venmo were not asked to provide their passport information, despite Wallace-Jones assuring Congress they were.

Covington & Burling warned that there was “a substantial risk that some of the funds received were impermissible contributions from foreign nationals,” and that ActBlue’s claims to Congress could trigger a criminal investigation if federal prosecutors concluded that the platform had hidden information about its actual efforts to stop foreign donations. The disclosures have already triggered multiple high-level resignations at the organization.

ActBlue has pushed back against its former legal advisers at Covington, claiming the firm failed to properly review the 2023 letter before it went to Congress. The platform has since ended its relationship with the law firm, claiming it has introduced new safeguards to block foreign donations.

The combination of federal and congressional investigations, plus internal turmoil, is raising serious concerns about ActBlue’s ability to support Democrat fundraising efforts ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. Since its founding, the organization has processed nearly $19 billion in donations and now faces mounting pressure to resolve the legal and compliance issues.

Trump Says 2-3 More Weeks of War, Tells Allies to Secure Hormuz Themselves.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: President Trump delivered a special address to the nation regarding the ongoing conflict with Iran.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Donald Trump and the United States military forces engaged in Operation Epic Fury against Iran.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The address was given on Wednesday, April 1st, at 9 PM.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Countries of the world that do receive oil through the Hormuz Strait must take care of that passage.” – Donald J. Trump

🎯IMPACT: The conflict is expected to continue for another 2-3 weeks, with significant implications for global oil security.

IN FULL

President Trump addressed the nation on the evening of April 1st, offering an update on the military engagement with Iran, known as Operation Epic Fury. The President highlighted that the operation, which commenced a month ago, has nearly achieved its core objectives, but stated there will be 2-3 weeks more military activity.

During his speech, President Trump emphasized the responsibility of other nations, particularly those reliant on oil passing through the Strait of Hormuz, to ensure their own security.

“Countries of the world that do receive oil through the Hormuz Strait must take care of that passage.” he stated, underscoring a shift in U.S. foreign policy expectations and effectively leaving the Strait of Hormuz for other nations to deal with.

The President also projected the continuation of the military operation for an additional two to three weeks, suggesting that the conflict is far from over.

He said: “I made clear from the beginning of Operation Epic Fury that we will continue until our objectives are fully achieved. Thanks to the progress we’ve made, I can say tonight that we are on track to complete all of America’s military objectives shortly. Very shortly. We’re going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks. We’re going to bring them back to the Stone Ages, where they belong.”

The address served not only to inform the American public but also to send a clear message to international partners and adversaries about the United States’ stance on energy security and military engagement.

“In the meantime, discussions are ongoing, regime change was not our goal. We never said regime change, but regime change has occurred because of all of their original leader’s death. They’re all dead,” President Trump said.
