Saks, Bergdorf, and Neiman Marcus Owner File for Bankruptcy.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Saks Global—the parent company of Saks Fifth Avenue (an over 100-year-old retail icon), Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman—has filed for bankruptcy.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Saks Global, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and Saks Global CEO Geoffroy van Raemdonck.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The bankruptcy filing was made late Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

💬KEY QUOTE: “This is a defining moment for Saks Global, and the path ahead presents a meaningful opportunity to strengthen the foundation of our business and position it for the future.” — Geoffroy van Raemdonck

🎯IMPACT: The next year will be critical for Saks Global and luxury retail properties. If it is unable to renegotiate with vendors or find a way to restructure its debt in a manageable way, one of America’s most iconic department stores could meet its end after 100 years.

IN FULL

The parent company of some of the United States’s largest luxury department stores has filed for bankruptcy, putting into limbo the future of retail properties like Saks Fifth Avenue (an over 100-year-old retail icon), Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman. Late Tuesday, Saks Global filed for bankruptcy, citing mounting debt and a decline in certain sectors of retail sales.

Saks’s fall tracks the fates of a number of America’s once-stalwart luxury brand retailers. However, Saks Global stresses that it believes an estimated $1.75 billion in financing—primarily from bondholders—that it has secured will allow it to emerge from bankruptcy relatively unscathed.

“This is a defining moment for Saks Global, and the path ahead presents a meaningful opportunity to strengthen the foundation of our business and position it for the future,” said Geoffroy van Raemdonck, who is returning from Neiman Marcus as Saks Global’s CEO to oversee the bankruptcy and restructuring. Notably, the company has faced mounting competition from direct sales by luxury brands, U.S. e-commerce giants such as Amazon and eBay, as well as Chinese affordable ‘fast fashion’ online retailers like Shein and Temu.

Mounting competition, coupled with years of a sluggish economy and high inflation beginning with the former Biden government, saw radical shifts in consumer behavior. At the time, Saks Global was unable to adjust.

Another serious problem facing Saks Global was its attempt to consolidate Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman into a single, giant luxury store brand. To do this, Saks Global took on around $2 billion in debt, which ultimately proved an insurmountable fiscal burden for the company.

The next year will be critical for Saks Global and luxury retail properties. If it is unable to renegotiate with vendors or find a way to restructure its debt in a manageable way, one of America’s most iconic department stores could meet its end after 100 years.

Impeachment Articles Filed Against Walz Amid Somali Fraud Scandal.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Minnesota Governor Tim Walz faces four articles of impeachment related to alleged fraud and mismanagement in state programs.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Governor Tim Walz and Republican lawmakers, led by State Representative Mike Warner.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Minnesota, January 2026.

🎯IMPACT: The Minnesota House will reconvene next month to potentially proceed with impeachment, requiring a Senate trial for removal.

IN FULL

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) faces four articles of impeachment, marking another significant blow to the failed Democratic vice presidential nominee. This comes after he had recently abandoned his bid for re-election amid mounting allegations related to his responsibility for widespread fraud in the North Star State, much of it perpetrated by the Somali community.

The four articles of impeachment are as follows:

Article I: Violation of Oath of Office through Concealment of Fraud, which accuses Walz of knowingly concealing or permitting the concealment of systemic fraud, despite multiple warnings, audits, and reports indicating that there was abuse.

Article II: Interference with Oversight and Investigations, which accuses Walz of obstructing or interfering with lawful oversight, investigations, or corrective actions related to fraud, for example, by shutting down whistleblowers, failing to act on evidence of issues, and presenting obstacles to investigations and reforms.

Article III: Prioritizing Political Considerations Over Lawful Administration, which accuses Walz of prioritizing political objectives, such as courting popularity among the Somali community, over his duty to perform his administrative functions fairly and effectively.

Article IV: Failure to Steward Public Funds, which accuses Walz of having allowed taxpayers to be defrauded of potentially billions of dollars through his negligence and weakening of various safeguards.

The Minnesota House is scheduled to reconvene next month, at which point impeachment proceedings could formally start. If the House votes to impeach, the state senate would conduct a trial to decide Walz’s guilt and possibly remove him from office.

Notably, hundreds of whistleblowers in the state administration have accused Walz not merely of incompetence, but of overseeing a regime that actively threatened retaliation against state workers attempting to bring fraud scandals to light.

Top Trump Ally Orban Faces Electoral Disaster. Here’s Why…

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Hungary has announced its parliamentary elections will take place on April 12, with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán facing a significant political challenge.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, opposition leader Péter Magyar, President Tamás Sulyok, and the Hungarian electorate.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The election is set for April 12, with the official campaign period starting on February 21, in Hungary.

💬KEY QUOTE: “One of the cornerstones of democracy is the right to vote freely.” – Tamás Sulyok

🎯IMPACT: The election will determine whether Orbán retains power or if Péter Magyar and the opposition can capitalize on dissatisfaction with the government.

IN FULL

Hungary will hold its next parliamentary election on April 12, President Tamás Sulyok has announced, setting the stage for a closely watched contest that could alter the country’s political trajectory. The vote comes at a difficult moment for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who has been in power since 2010 and now faces his most serious challenge in years. Independent opinion polls indicate that Orbán’s national populist Fidesz party is trailing the opposition Tisza party, led by Péter Magyar, a former government insider placed at the head of an alliance of virtually every other party in the country, with the tacit backing of the European Union (EU) and other globalist entities.

Magyar has gained support by focusing on economic stagnation and high living costs—driven in large part by the inflationary impact on Hungary of the war in neighboring Ukraine, where Orbán has long argued for a peace settlement over open-ended support for Ukraine and a damaging Russo-Western sanctions war.

Orbán has pledged to introduce further anti-corruption reforms and to secure the release of billions of euros in EU funds that remain frozen due to alleged concerns over judicial independence and the rule of law in Hungary, which the EU has often used as an excuse to punish the country for resisting initiatives such as Europe-wide migrant quotas.

Orbán described Hungary under his stewardship as an “illiberal democracy,” prioritizing national sovereignty and popular conservative values over liberal globalist values. His Fidesz party has framed the upcoming election as a stark choice between “stability and chaos,” accusing the opposition of serving the European Union’s interests and seeking to undermine Hungarian sovereignty. The ruling party has also warned that the Tisza party would raise taxes and impose austerity measures if elected.

The official campaign period begins on February 21, when parties and candidates will be able to collect voter signatures and display campaign materials.

The election will take place against the backdrop of several conservative policy moves by Orbán’s government that the European Union is trying to block or overturn. For instance, earlier this year, Hungary adopted a constitutional amendment allowing authorities to protect children from LGBT ideology by effectively banning events like Pride parades, which children are likely to be exposed to.

Orbán has also drawn international attention for his close relationship with President Donald J. Trump, being one of the few world leaders to publicly back the America First leader ahead of the 2024 election. In late 2025, Trump suggested that Hungary could be exempted from U.S. sanctions on Russian energy, citing the landlocked country’s heavy dependence on Russian oil and gas for historical and geographical reasons.

American Workers’ Wages Climb as Inflation Stabilizes.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Fresh economic data suggests inflation is under control, with workers seeing real wage gains under President Donald J. Trump.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Trump, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, and Bloomberg’s Chris Anstey.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Data released today, covering the U.S. economy under President Trump’s administration.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Yet another report confirms that President Trump has defeated the inflation crisis inherited from the Biden Administration, while so-called ‘experts’ continue to be proven wrong month after month.” — White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt

🎯IMPACT: Rising wages, declining vehicle prices, and economic growth signal recovery for American workers and industries.

IN FULL

Fresh economic data released this week indicate that inflation is continuing to ease and American workers are experiencing real wage growth, according to new government figures and market analysts. Core inflation came in below economists’ expectations, signaling slower price increases. Bloomberg described the report as “a convincing sign that inflation is on a downward path.”

The latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed inflation running at an annualized rate of 2.7 percent, underscoring a continued cooling trend. Since President Donald J. Trump regained office in January 2025, administration officials say headline inflation has averaged about 2.4 percent, down from roughly three percent under Joe Biden. Core inflation has also declined to around 2.4 percent, compared with a prior pace of 3.3 percent.

“Yet another report confirms that President Trump has defeated the inflation crisis inherited from the Biden Administration, while so-called ‘experts’ continue to be proven wrong month after month. President Trump’s powerful tariffs, massive tax cuts for working families, and sweeping deregulatory agenda have positioned our economy for a boom in 2026,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Keavitt said.

At the same time, wages have been rising faster than prices. Real private sector weekly earnings are projected to grow by about four percent during President Trump’s first full year in office, translating into an estimated $1,100 increase in real income for private-sector workers. Gains have been especially notable among blue-collar workers in industries such as mining, logging, construction, and manufacturing, where annual earnings have risen substantially.

Vehicle prices, which surged earlier in the decade, have continued to fall. Automakers reported their strongest sales year since 2019, suggesting consumers are benefiting from improved affordability.

Recent research has also challenged assumptions that tariffs necessarily drive inflation higher. A Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco study examining economic data from the United States, the United Kingdom, and France over a 150-year period found that higher tariffs were often associated with lower inflation rates, contradicting warnings from some critics of the administration’s trade policies.

Trump to Halt Federal Funds to Sanctuary Cities and States.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald J. Trump announced that federal payments to sanctuary cities and states will cease starting next month.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Trump, sanctuary city officials, and federal immigration enforcement agencies.

📍WHEN & WHERE: During a speech at The Detroit Economic Club on Tuesday.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Starting February 1, we’re not making any payments to sanctuary cities or states having sanctuary cities because they do everything possible to protect criminals at the expense of American citizens.” – President Trump

🎯IMPACT: Federal funding cuts will increase pressure on sanctuary cities and states while sparking further debate over immigration policies.

IN FULL

On Tuesday, President Donald J. Trump told guests at The Detroit Economic Club that starting February 1, 2026, his administration will cease all federal payments to sanctuary cities and states. The move comes amid escalating pushback by Democrat-controlled state and local governments against the Trump administration’s deployment of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents across the country in a significant enforcement action.

“Starting February 1, we’re not making any payments to sanctuary cities or states having sanctuary cities because they do everything possible to protect criminals at the expense of American citizens,” President Trump said, continuing, “And it breeds fraud and crime and all the other problems that come. So we’re not making any payment to anybody that supports sanctuary.”

“We have also suspended payments tied to suspected scammers in Minnesota, of which there are many. It’s a great state. It was a great state. Now it’s getting destroyed by that stupid governor,” the President added.

A number of sanctuary cities and states have not only prohibited law enforcement resources from being used to assist federal immigration agents, but some have gone so far as to prohibit local police from responding and providing support to ICE and other federal officers when they come under assault by violent left-wing protestors. These actions have resulted in violent altercations like the one recently seen in Minneapolis, where an anti-ICE activist was fatally shot after attempting to run over a federal agent.

During the speech, President Trump also vowed that no more federal dollars would flow to childcare centers unless they can demonstrate children are actually in attendance, a response to the recent exposure of widespread social services fraud tied to Minnesota’s Somali immigrant community. In addition, Trump said his administration will move to denaturalize foreign-born Somali citizens if they were convicted of fraud, and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is ending its Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somali illegal immigrants.

Far-Left Prof Who Called Trump a Pedophile Charged With Child Molestation.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A leftist activist and former professor was arrested for allegedly attempting to meet and engage in sexual activity with someone he believed to be an 11-year-old girl.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Houston Curry Wade, 44, a former Edmonds College faculty member, and undercover law enforcement.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The alleged offenses occurred between August and December 2025, culminating in an arrest at East Park in Bremerton, Washington.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I’d take a bag of gravel as president over this pedophile,” Wade said of President Donald J. Trump, prior to being arrested for trying to lure an 11-year-old for sex.

🎯IMPACT: Wade faces life in prison if convicted and is currently held on a $750,000 bond.

IN FULL

A leftist activist and professor who branded President Donald J. Trump a child molester, saying, “I’d take a bag of gravel as president over this pedophile,” has been arrested for trying to lure an 11-year-old girl online. Houston Curry Wade, a 44-year-old former part-time instructor in Physics and Astronomy at Edmonds College, was arrested on December 17, 2025, in Bremerton, Washington, following an undercover sting operation.

Authorities allege that Wade initiated contact on August 29, 2025, via the Hush app with an undercover officer posing as an 11-year-old girl, using the username “AuthorityFigure.” The conversation shifted to the Kik platform and continued for approximately 110 days, during which Wade allegedly employed grooming tactics, including compliments on the decoy’s appearance and escalating to explicit sexual discussions.

The interactions culminated in plans to meet at East Park in Bremerton. On the day of the scheduled encounter, surveillance observed Wade leaving his home on Bainbridge Island, stopping at a Quality Inn in Silverdale, where he left a backpack in a hotel room. A subsequent search of the room, authorized by warrant, revealed condoms, lubricants, sex toys, and bondage items. Wade then proceeded directly to the park, where he was arrested around 5:25 PM.

During initial questioning, Wade waived his Miranda rights but claimed he had gotten lost en route to a restaurant that closed in 2024. Surveillance footage contradicted this, showing a direct route to the meeting spot. He later requested an attorney.

Wade faces charges including Attempted Child Molestation in the First Degree (a Class A felony) and Communication With a Minor for Immoral Purposes (a gross misdemeanor). He remains in custody at Kitsap County Jail on $750,000 bond. Conviction on the felony could result in life imprisonment.

This case occurs amid other recent allegations of child sex crimes involving people linked to Democrat politics. In January 2025, Matthew A. Inman, 39, treasurer of the Orange County, Florida Democratic Party and president of the Orange County Rainbow Democrats, was arrested on federal charges of transportation of child sexual abuse material after allegedly saving and sharing illegal videos and expressing interest in sexual encounters with a boy as young as nine in communications with an undercover agent.

In Arizona, former Democratic state Sen. Otoniel “Tony” Navarrete was convicted in 2024 of sexual conduct with a boy victimized between ages 12 or 13 and 15. He was sentenced to one year in prison and 10 years of supervised probation.

Additionally, Robert Jacob, former Democrat mayor of Sebastopol, California, pleaded no contest in 2023 to six felony counts of sexual misconduct with a 14-year-old boy, including lewd acts and related offenses. He was sentenced to seven years in prison and must register as a sex offender for life.

Trump Unhappy With Bondi’s Weak Execution of His Agenda: Report.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald J. Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with Attorney General Pam Bondi’s performance, criticizing her as weak and ineffective in advancing his agenda.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Trump, Attorney General Bondi, and various administration officials and allies.

📍WHEN & WHERE: These criticisms have been ongoing in recent months, with discussions taking place at the White House and among Trump’s inner circle.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Folks are desperate for action and just haven’t seen it.” – WarRoom host Stephen K. Bannon.

🎯IMPACT: The tensions highlight ongoing challenges within the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the wider Trump administration regarding the execution of his agenda.

IN FULL

President Donald J. Trump has repeatedly expressed frustration with Attorney General Pam Bondi, according to reports, accusing her of not aggressively pursuing his legal and political priorities. The President wants the Department of Justice (DOJ) to act more forcefully on matters he considers crucial, and he is reportedly discussing appointing special counsels to do so, due to Bond’s perceived weakness as an enforcer.

Among his reported grievances are Bondi’s mishandling of cases involving former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James, which were dismissed by judges. Trump has also expressed dissatisfaction with Bondi’s handling of FBI files related to deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, which has tied his administration to a scandal that previously tarnished the Democrats much more than the American right, given Epstein’s status as a Democrat donor close to the Clintons.

Despite these reports, the President has publicly defended Bondi, saying, “Pam is doing an excellent job. She has been my friend for many years. Tremendous progress is being made against radical left lunatics who are good at only one thing, cheating in elections, and the crimes they commit,” last week.

However, WarRoom host Stephen K. Bannon has stated that Bondi is bleeding support from the MAGA base and from Trump’s inner circle. “Folks are desperate for action and just haven’t seen it,” he said. Reports indicate that several high-profile lawyers have departed Bondi’s DOJ, citing frustration with her management and perceived inefficiency in handling key cases.

Trump Tells Iranian Demonstrators to Keep Going, ‘Help Is On Its Way.’

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald J. Trump on Tuesday encouraged the people of Iran to continue their mass demonstrations against the Islamic Republic and its leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stating: “Help is on its way.”

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Trump, the U.S. military, anti-regime demonstrators in Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and Islamic Republic military forces.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Tuesday, January 13, 2026, during a speech at The Detroit Economic Club.

💬KEY QUOTE: “To all Iranian patriots—keep protesting, take over your institutions if possible, and save the names of the killers and the abusers… because they’ll pay a very big price. All I say to them is, ‘Help is on its way.'” — President Trump

🎯IMPACT: The Trump White House has confirmed the President’s national security advisors have briefed him on a number of potential actions that could be taken against the Iranian regime.

IN FULL

President Donald J. Trump on Tuesday delivered a powerful message to the people of Iran, encouraging them to continue their mass demonstrations against the Islamic Republic and its leader, Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. “Help is on its way,” Trump stated while speaking to The Detroit Economic Club.

“To all Iranian patriots—keep protesting, take over your institutions if possible, and save the names of the killers and the abusers… because they’ll pay a very big price,” President Trump said. He added, “All I say to them is, ‘Help is on its way.'”

For over two weeks now, demonstrators have taken to the streets across Iran, often resulting in violent clashes with regime forces. Currently, estimates of the number killed stand somewhere between 2,000 and as many as 20,000—though a precise number has been difficult to determine due to cuts in cell phone communication and Internet access initiated by the Islamic government.

Meanwhile, the Trump White House has confirmed the President’s national security advisors have briefed him on a number of potential actions that could be taken against the Iranian regime. Trump has repeatedly warned the Grand Ayatollah that if demonstrators were harmed, it would provoke a U.S. military response. Subsequently, the U.S. government on Tuesday told all Americans to leave Iran immediately.

The stability of Iran’s regime has been in question since U.S. military strikes last year that crippled its nuclear program, and Israeli strikes against senior Iranian military figures and Hamas leaders hiding in the country. Iran was unable to offer any resistance to the U.S. strikes and could only muster an ineffective missile response to the Israeli attacks.

Notably, the threat of U.S. military reprisals over the harming of Iranian protestors comes on the heels of President Trump ordering a wildly successful military operation in Venezuela that resulted in American forces capturing the country’s dictator, Nicolás Maduro.

Poll Shows Teachers’ Extreme Left-Wing Bias Is Getting Worse.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A Deltapoll survey commissioned by the National Education Union (NEU) shows teachers in England skew overwhelmingly to the political left, and are lurching even further in that direction.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The survey involved 3,751 NEU members in England.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Conducted from December 12-15, 2023, in England.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Conditions have gotten worse, and teachers are running on empty,” complained Daniel Kebede, NEU General Secretary.

🎯IMPACT: The poll indicates a potential radicalization of the teaching profession, which is likely to influence their students.

IN FULL

The recent survey highlights a dramatic shift in political preferences among National Education Union (NEU) members in England, with the formerly fringe, far-left Green Party now leading at 37 percent—a significant increase from previous elections. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour Party, which is somewhat less far-left than the Greens, has seen a steep decline to 29 percent since it gained office in 2024. Meanwhile, right-leaning parties such as Nigel Farage’s Reform, which tops the polls among the general public, are on just 10 percent support, while the formerly governing Conservatives (Tories) are on only six percent support.

The Green Party has historically emphasized environmentalism and climate change, and at one time opposed mass migration on the grounds that perpetual population growth was damaging the environment. Now, however, it has fully embraced pro-Palestinian activism, mass migration, so-called social justice, and progressive causes such as transgenderism, allowing it to peel ethnic minorities and ideological leftists away from Labour. NEU General Secretary Daniel Kebede has complained that, even with Labour in power, teachers are facing deteriorating conditions and “running on empty.”

Deltapoll’s survey results suggest a potential radicalization within the teaching profession, with this radicalism likely influencing younger generations in the classroom.

Trump Honors Late Cartoonist and Commentator Scott Adams.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald J. Trump paid tribute to Scott Adams following news of his passing, praising his early support of MAGA and offering condolences to his family.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Donald Trump and Scott Adams, creator of the Dilbert comic strip and political commentator.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The tribute was shared on Truth Social on Tuesday, following Adams’ death at age 68 from metastatic prostate cancer.

💬KEY QUOTE: “He was a fantastic guy, who liked and respected me when it wasn’t fashionable to do so. He bravely fought a long battle against a terrible disease.” – Donald Trump

🎯IMPACT: Scott Adams’ legacy as a cartoonist and pro-Trump commentator leaves a lasting mark on political and cultural discourse.

IN FULL

President Donald J. Trump offered his condolences and paid tribute to the late conservative commentator Scott Adams, creator of the Dilbert newspaper comic strip, after his death following a battle with metastatic prostate cancer on Tuesday. Adams, who was just 68 when he passed, was an early supporter of President Trump and the MAGA movement.

“Sadly, the Great Influencer, Scott Adams, has passed away. He was a fantastic guy, who liked and respected me when it wasn’t fashionable to do so,” President Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. He added, “He bravely fought a long battle against a terrible disease. My condolences go out to his family, and all of his many friends and listeners. He will be truly missed. God bless you Scott!”

Adams, best known as the creator of Dilbert, also hosted a livestream Rumble show, Coffee With Scott Adams. His death was announced by his ex-wife, Shelly Adams, who read a statement from the late cartoonist and political commentator in which he embraced Christianity.

“Next, many of my Christian friends have asked me to find Jesus before I go. I’m not a believer, but I have to admit the risk-reward calculation for doing so looks so attractive to me, so here I go,” Adams wrote, continuing: ” I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and look forward to spending an eternity with him. The part about me not being a believer should be quickly resolved if I wake up in heaven. I won’t need any more convincing than that. I hope I’m still qualified for entry.”

The cartoonist had been battling prostate cancer, which spread to his bones last year, resulting in paralysis from the waist down, with Shelly Adams, her sister, and his stepdaughter helping to care for him. In November, Adams publicly appealed to Trump to intervene and help him access an experimental cancer treatment. Trump responded, and Adams later confirmed he had received the medication, though it was sadly unsuccessful.

Trump’s Arctic Policy Chief Suggests Next Move on Greenland Coming in ‘Weeks or Months.’

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The Trump administration is considering action on acquiring Greenland, with potential developments in “weeks or months.”

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Donald J. Trump, U.S. Arctic Research Commission (USARC) Commissioner Thomas Dans, Vice President J.D. Vance, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Developments anticipated within “weeks or months,” with Danish and Greenlandic officials meeting with Trump at the White House on January 14.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Things could move on an express basis, skip the local stops, and go direct to the main station.” – Thomas Dans

🎯IMPACT: The U.S. aims to secure strategic advantages in the Arctic, potentially altering diplomatic relations with Denmark and Greenland.

IN FULL

President Donald J. Trump is continuing to push forward with plans to acquire Greenland, a move which could take shape in the coming “weeks or months.” The potential for imminent action on the acquisition of the minerals-rich island—currently under Danish sovereignty—has been confirmed by a senior administration official.

Thomas Dans, who serves as the commissioner for the U.S. Arctic Research Commission (USARC), has been leading efforts on this front since 2020. Dans, an advocate for Trump’s Greenland ambitions, suggested that progress could occur swiftly, noting that President Trump, himself, seeks to expedite the process.

“This is a train route with multiple stops,” Dans said in a media interview on Tuesday. He continued, “Things could move on an express basis, skip the local stops and go direct to the main station. That’s where President Trump wants to move it—at high speed.”

Dans stressed the importance of winning over locals on the island, stating, “We need to get the people of Greenland on board.” However, he emphasized that “things can happen quickly from a transactional standpoint,” while more time can be allocated to “a process to gain trust and support of the Greenlandic people and this will require time and effort from the U.S. side.”

Notably, Denmark and Greenland have repeatedly stated the island is not for sale. However, the Trump administration has given no signal that it intends to back down from its Arctic ambitions. The National Pulse reported last week that during remarks at the White House, President Trump stated that the United States will acquire the island of Greenland, whether its current sovereign—the Kingdom of Denmark—”likes it or not.”

“I’d like to make a deal, the easy way,” Trump said, adding, “But if we don’t do it the easy way, we’re going to do it the hard way.”

On Wednesday, Vice President J.D. Vance and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will meet with Danish and Greenlandic officials at the White House, possibly signaling a thawing in considerations over the American acquisition of the island. Notably, the Danes requested the meeting.
