❓ WHAT HAPPENED: An illegal immigrant from Mexico has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexually assaulting and robbing a dead man on the New York City subway. The federal government has demanded that New York officials hand him over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) upon his release. 📺 DETAIL: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Tuesday that Felix Jeronimo-Rojas, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, has been sentenced after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting and robbing the corpse of 37-year-old Jorge Gonzalez. Gonzalez died on an R train near the Whitehall Street station in New York City in April 2025, and Jeronimo-Rojas assaulted his corpse and searched his pockets roughly three hours later. After surveillance footage capturing the incident was released, Jeronimo-Rojas turned himself in three weeks later. He was initially charged with rape and grand larceny. ICE has lodged a detainer against Jeronimo-Rojas, and DHS has revealed that Jeronimo-Rojas illegally entered the United States four times between 1998 and 1999 before illegally entering the country for a fifth time on an unknown date. 💬 KEY QUOTE: “This sicko robbed and raped the corpse of a dead man on a New York City subway… ICE lodged a detainer asking Governor Kathy Hochul and New York sanctuary politicians to commit to not releasing this criminal illegal alien after his prison sentence… We need cooperation from sanctuary politicians to ensure depraved criminals like this are not released into our communities.” – Lauren Bis, Acting Assistant Secretary at DHS 🎯 IMPACT: DHS has criticized Democrat Governor of New York Kathy Hochul’s sanctuary policies, which it have resulted in the release of nearly 7,000 criminal illegal immigrants since January 2021, including those involved in violent and predatory crimes. 📺 FLASHBACK: This is not the first time that DHS has criticized Democrat-controlled states for implementing sanctuary-type policies. Earlier this month, DHS criticized Democrat Governor of Virginia Abigail Spanberger after an illegal immigrant charged with sexually abusing a child was granted a low bond. “Sanctuary Spanberger’s REFUSAL to work with [ICE] has made Virginians less safe and the commonwealth a magnet for illegal alien crime,” said the Department in a statement last week. |
🚨@ICEgov is calling on @GovKathyHochul and New York sanctuary politicians to NOT RELEASE this SUBWAY SICKO from jail.
