Lord David Cameron, the British Foreign Secretary and former Prime Minister, was caught on camera urging a man he thought was a former Ukrainian prime minister to lobby U.S. Congressional Republicans and former President Donald J. Trump against negotiating a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia.
“The most important thing, if you have any connection to Trump—the most important thing to get across to Trump, is that the Putin of today is far more extreme than the one that you were dealing with at the time of Minsk,” Lord Cameron can be heard saying during the conversation with Russian pranksters.
The British Foreign Secretary added: “I think we have to convince Trump of this. Trump thinks there’s some easy deal to make. And that’s not the case because Putin wants so much more.”
Lord Cameron continued: “I think that Trump needs to understand that.”

Later in the conversation, Cameron again urges that Ukrainian officials leverage any contacts they have in the Republican Party to push for further aid and U.S. support against Russia. Lord Cameron specifically named Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who he described as “pro-Ukraine.” More importantly, the British Foreign Secretary said, “…we’ve got to try and work out which ones are on the margins and which ones can be convinced.” He concluded: “Because that will all have an impact.”
LORD CAMERON LIED?
The British Foreign Secretary appears to have been duped by Russian pranksters into believing he was conversing with former Ukrainian prime minister Petro Poroshenko. Lord Cameron’s conversation raises concerns regarding the British—a long-standing U.S. ally—encouraging former Ukranian officials to engage in foreign influence operations in Washington, D.C.
In April, Cameron denied meeting with U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson ahead of a pivotal Ukraine aid funding vote in Congress. The National Pulse reported at the time that Cameron acknowledged meeting with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and former President Trump but claimed he did not meet with Johnson regarding Ukraine. However, his unwitting conversation with the Russian prankers contradicts this claim. Lord Cameron appears to acknowledge speaking with Johnson, Trump, and Blinken.
