A car was deliberately driven into a crowd on the French island of Ile d’Oleron on Wednesday morning, leaving two people in critical condition and eight others injured. The apparent attack unfolded at approximately 8:45 AM local time, after which authorities apprehended a 35-year-old male driver, who shouted “Allahu Akbar” (Arabic for “[our] God is greater“) after the incident.

Dolus d’Oléron Mayor Thibault Brechkoff described how the driver navigated between two villages, hitting several people on foot, among them a young girl. “No one has died and we are hoping that the injured will recover,” Brechkoff said in an interview with French television. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez confirmed on social media: “Two victims are in absolute emergency and three other people are injured. The suspect has been taken into custody by the gendarmes. An investigation has been opened.”

La Rochelle Public Prosecutor Arnaud Laraize noted that the man yelled “Allah Akbar” as he was detained, but added that “the motive is not confirmed and the investigation will have to determine it.” Reports indicate the suspect tried to ignite his car, which held gas canisters, prior to escaping the area. He reportedly has a history of offenses tied to substance abuse involving drugs and alcohol.

Among those hurt was a parliamentary aide to a regional National Rally (RN) figure; the RN is known for its stance against mass migration. Several victims had to be transported by air to Poitiers University Hospital.

By 2050, 10 more states are expected to become minority white: Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Oklahoma, and Washington. By 2060, white Americans are projected to become a minority in 24 out of 50 states, including Alaska, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, Rhode Island, and Virginia. West Virginia is projected to remain the least diverse state, with 86 percent of the population remaining white by 2050.
🎯 IMPACT: If these projections materialize, it will be the first time in U.S. history that the country has been minority white. Demographic change on this scale is very likely to impact political, economic, and social dynamics for decades to come. The census data reveals not only the scale but the speed of the transformation. In 2000, only three U.S. states had a minority white population: California, Hawaii, and New Mexico. Notably, Hawaii had never had a white majority. Reports from late last year also indicated that the U.S. is on track to become minority Christian by 2070. These looming changes reflect a common pattern across the Western world; earlier this month, a study by France‘s National Institute of Demographic Studies revealed that one-third of the country’s population are either immigrants or descendants of recent immigrants.
