A political action committee (PAC) called Draft Tucker Carlson is pushing for the former primetime Fox News host to run for president next year, claiming, “Republicans need a new leader, and Tucker Carlson is ready to lead.”
The PAC, which has already filed papers with the Federal Election Commission, released an ad last Thursday, under the title: “It’s time to draft Tucker Carlson.”
“Tucker Carlson is witty, sharp, and mocks woke nonsense” and “will whip Biden in a debate,” the PAC’s ad claims.
“No one in America is more articulate and pins down leftists in both parties better than Tucker,” it adds.
PAC Chairman former Texas congressional candidate and GOP donor Chris Ekstrom, told The Hill: “If Tucker Carlson entered the race in a reasonable amount of time and just continued in the same territory that he was covering at Fox, I think that’d be a rude awakening for both President Trump and Governor DeSantis.”
Carlson’s lawyer Harmeet Dhillon slapped the idea down this weekend, tweeting, “As Tucker’s attorney, I can unequivocally state that this PAC is unauthorized, that the people running it didn’t get his permission to use his name/likeness, and that it would be fruitless to contribute to such a PAC.”
