Ron DeSantis is sitting down for an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Tuesday – a surprising development given his online boosters’ critiques over Trump’s CNN town hall just a few months ago. “He’d be an idiot to give CNN airtime,” supporter John Cardillo wrote in May.

But more surprising still is the very public fellating that DeSantis mouthpieces are giving to Tapper ahead of the conversation.

Speaking about the decision to the New York Post, DeSantis spokesman Bryan Griffin said: “There are people within the media who are still seeking the truth; we will engage with them. And we look forward to getting our message out there to the American people.”

Describing a man so heavily involved in laundering Russiagate into the news – Jake Tapper – as a seeker of truth is not just a stretch, but revealing of Team DeSantis’s worldview.

A number of DeSantis staff have questionable statements that have recently emerged, including DACA/Dreamer advocate Christina Pushaw, as well as DeSantis press secretary Jeremy Redfern, who allegedly called for President Trump’s “impeachment and removal” before appearing to support the assassination of January 6th protester Ashli Babbitt inside the U.S. Capitol.

In response to conservative author Mollie Hemingway’s Twitter critique of Tapper, pro-DeSantis accounts such as Max Nordau – linked closely to Redfern, Griffin, and Pushaw – came to his defense.
