Around 90 percent of Ukrainianmedia relies on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) cash to survive, according to the director of a Ukrainian non-governmental organization (NGO). Oksana Romaniuk, director of the Institute of Mass Information (IMI), claims that the advertising market in Ukraine dropped by as much as 92 percent following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
According to Romaniuk, the market has never recovered. Advertising revenues account for as little as three to ten percent of regional media revenues. Speaking on USAID, she explained, “The problem is that almost everyone has grants. The question is that for some, these grants amounted to 100 percent of their income, and they could only survive thanks to grants. These grants amounted to 40–60 percent for some, less for others.”
Romaniuk stated that cash for Ukrainian media also came from Europe but that American funding made up the largest amount overall.
Shortly after his inauguration last month, President Donald J. Trump, with a few exceptions, froze foreign aid for 90 days. He has also gutted USAID, which is being absorbed into the U.S. State Department after Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) determined it was unsalvageable.
Romaniuk argued that the funding freeze could weaken democracy in Ukraine. However, there is currently no democracy in Ukraine due to martial law prohibiting any new elections. President Volodymyr Zelenky’s presidential term ended in May last year, but no new elections are currently scheduled.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has released former Vice President Kamala Harris’s full interview with 60 Minutes. This comes after President Donald J. Trump filed a complaint against CBS News for deceptively editing the video and transcript of the interview to make her appear more cogent.
The video appears to prove President Trump’s accusations correct, with several rambling, “word salad” answers from Harris in the raw footage having been excised from the finished product.
A written transcript of the interview has also been released.

The United States federal government has spent hundreds of millions of dollars over the last two decades on corporate media subscriptions and secondary services new outlets provide, such as databases, newswire services, marketing tools, and media monitoring. While the payments are dubiously justified by claims that the subscriptions are necessary for productivity, critics contend that the government contracts look more like the government is directly funding the media. One of the more concerning instances is numerous contracts held by government agencies with POLITICO—which infamously and falsely declared the Hunter Biden laptop to be Russian disinformation, citing “[m]ore than 50 former senior intelligence officials.”
In the case of POLITICO, the outlet received $8.1 million in government payments through over 200 transactions. Most of the payments are from various federal departments and agencies paying for subscription fees, though some are for higher-cost products like databases, email distribution, and other services. Another major recipient of government payments is Thomson Reuters and its various subsidiaries. Combined, the network of Reuters media and business properties has received nearly $20 million in government payments in recent years.
A SUBSCRIPTION RACKET.
Increasingly, major corporate media outlets like POLITICO—which is owned by the German-based media company Axel Springer SE—and Thomson Reuters—a Canadian media conglomerate—are offering high-priced business and government subscription services. In exchange for the often five or even six-figure annual subscriptions, government officials and corporate executives are given access to databases, paywalled media stories, email distribution tools, market analysis, and public relations tools.
While corporate news outlets claim these tools are necessary for their subscribers, the practice actually appears to be intended to siphon taxpayer dollars through upselling relatively unused services. Critics note that in some instances, the databases that government subscribers are given access to are often just repackaged or better-organized government data.
THE LAPTOP FROM HELL.
Additionally, the reliance on government spending raises ethical concerns regarding the influence of news coverage. During the 2020 election, POLITICO served as the key instigator in a corporate media narrative that framed the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian disinformation. Underpinning their story is a lettersigned by over 50 American intelligence officials, which itself appears to have been coordinated by Joe Biden’s presidential campaign and other figures aligned with the Democratic Party.
Notably, the corporate media continued to insist the laptop and its content were part of a Russian influence operation even after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) quietly confirmed that the laptop’s content was authentic and belonged to Hunter Biden.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has initiated an investigation into certain radio stations supported by billionaire plutocrat George Soros. These stations are under scrutiny for allegedly broadcasting live locations of undercover U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. The investigation comes after a report highlighted that a group backed by Soros acquired over 200 Audacy radio stations, granting substantial media influence across more than 40 markets in the United States.
One of the stations under examination is KCBS 740 AM, located in San Francisco. The FCC’s inquiry focuses on the station’s broadcast, which revealed the locations of ICE agents involved in deportation operations in San Jose. According to sources, this disclosure included specific details about the undercover vehicles used by the agents.
In response, the FCC’s Enforcement Bureau has issued a formal Letter of Inquiry to KCBS, seeking to determine if the station violated its FCC license obligations. Such licenses mandate broadcasters to operate in the public interest. Broadcasting locations of agents could potentially endanger them, an action considered contrary to public safety objectives.
Commissioner Brendan Carr, appointed during the Trump administration, emphasized the risks posed to ICE agents from such broadcasts. Carr stressed the FCC’s dedication to enforcing compliance with public interest obligations, emphasizing the importance of ICE agents’ safety.
The ICE agents involved were reportedly handling operations in response to activities linked to violent gangs. Carr expressed gratitude for the work of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE personnel.
The FCC’s actions against KCBS will likely set a precedent for how broadcaster responsibilities are interpreted concerning public safety matters.

CNN’s viewership collapse shows no signs of reversing, with the corporate media network seeing a 14 percent decline in its primetime audience in January compared to the same month in 2024. Notably, CNN‘s audience among the key 25-54-year-old viewer demographic declined year-over-year by five percent. Additionally, the network’s total viewership for its full 24 hours of programming is down nine percent compared to last January, with the key viewership demographic declining by seven percent.
Similarly, MSNBC also saw a significant decrease in its audience numbers. Compared to January last year, MSNBC’s primetime total viewership fell by 33 percent, with a 41 percent decline in the 25 to 54 age demographic. Over its entire 24 hours of programming, the far-left corporate news network saw a 34 percent and 42 percent drop in viewers, respectively.
CNN and MSNBC have faced declining viewers and revenue over the past year, prompting both networks to lay off staff and cut on-air “talent.” In May 2024, CNN’s primetime ratings hit a record 30-year low—prompting CEO Mark Thompson to initiate cost-cutting measures, including layoffs. Meanwhile, MSNBC’s parent company, Comcast, is exploring selling the media property to cut its losses.
The National Pulse reported last week that CNN cut ties with rabid anti-Trump host Jim Acosta after removing him from its morning lineup. Acosta was offered the option of hosting a program on CNN’s midnight to 2 AM time slot, which he reportedly declined. In December, the network saw the departure of long-time political correspondent and analyst Gloria Borger. Like Acosta, Borger has a long history of making partisan and biased attacks on President Donald J. Trump.

Paramount, owner of CBS, is looking to settle a $10 billion lawsuit from President Donald J. Trump over deceptive edits of an interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris last year. The dispute centers on Trump’s complaints that a broadcast of an interview with Harris, his former electoral rival, was extensively and deceptively edited to make her look better.
The talks coincide with Paramount’s ongoing efforts to merge with Skydance Media, which is owned by Larry Ellison and managed by David Ellison. The proposed merger could face regulatory hurdles from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Trump’s lawsuit seeks $10 billion in damages, alleging “election interference” due to what he describes as “deceptively doctored” footage. The issue arose from a segment in a 60 Minutes interview for the 2024 election campaign last October.
A version aired on Face the Nation portrayed Harris differently than in the full interview, with a completely different answer to a particular question being aired. 60 Minutes defended the editing process, stating that their selection featured a longer excerpt of Harris’ response than the one shown in the main program. This is untrue, however, as the response aired by CBS was entirely different from the long, rambling answer in the first clip released by the company, which was also not included in the written transcript of the interview.
Attorney Edward Andrew Paltzik, who represents President Trump, argues that the edit was intended to confuse voters and portray Harris in a more favorable light.
Shari Redstone, Paramount’s majority shareholder, reportedly supports the settlement talks and could benefit financially from a sale of the company.
Remember Kamala’s word salad answer about Israel on 60 Minutes? It’s gone.

CNN political commentator Bakari Sellers is apologizing after he attempted to quickly connect President Donald J. Trump to the tragic mid-air collision near Ronald Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia, Wednesday night. Following the deadly crash—in which it is feared 64 civilian passengers and crew, along with three military personnel, perished—Sellers posted a screenshot on social media of a Democratic Party press release alleging President Trump froze air traffic controller hirings last week.
“8 days ago,” Sellers wrote on X (formerly Twitter) with the Democratic Party press release screenshotted below. Despite the Democrats’ and Sellers’s claims, the hiring freeze instituted by Trump excludes U.S. military personnel and positions related to immigration enforcement, national security, and public safety. The latter includes air traffic controllers.
Additionally, there is currently no indication that an air traffic controller error caused the collision or that rushed hirings would have changed the events resulting in the deadly crash.
While first responders were still pulling bodies out of the Potomac River, he decided to recycle some garbage from Dems and somehow score political points.
After receiving an avalanche of pushback, Sellers deleted his post and later followed up with a mea culpa. “I deleted the post because timing matters. Politics at this point does not. I f**ked up, I own that,” Sellers wrote on X, continuing: “I am very prayerful but I’m also very frustrated upset and disturbed with where we are as a country. I recognize, and I will do better.”
“The only thing that matters is rescuing the survivors, and ensuring this never happens again,” the CNN commentator concluded.
It was confirmed this morning that there are no survivors.

CNN has not commented on the matter beyond stating that the corporate news network stands by Sellers’s public apology. The National Pulse has previously reported that CNN has suffered a significant loss of viewership over the last year. This has led to layoffs and the departure of several long-time correspondents and other on-air talent.

The White House press office claims to have received over 7,400 requests for press credentials after announcing its “new media” seat in the briefing room, which is open to alternative media, podcasters, and online influencers. The swarm of applications came within the first 24 hours of the announcement, which was made during the first press briefing given by President Donald J. Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, on January 27.
Leavitt described the new seat, saying it would be open to those who do not have permanent press credentials for the White House and would be rotated among applicants who qualify to attend White House briefings.
Under previous administrations, the White House Correspondents’ Association traditionally acted as gatekeepers for briefings, holding 49 permanent seats in the briefing room. Trump’s move is a reversal of the Biden-Harris regime-era policy that revoked press passes to journalists who did not meet various credential requirements.
“This White House believes strongly in the First Amendment, so it’s why our team will work diligently to restore the press passes of the 440 journalists whose passes were wrongly revoked by the previous administration,” Leavitt said during her briefing.
Leavitt served as national press secretary for Trump’s 2024presidential campaign and is the youngest White House press secretary in history at just 27 years old.

Corporate media fixture Chris Cillizza is admitting President Donald J. Trump was correct about the Chinese lab origin of the COVID-19 pandemic and that former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, was wrong to dismiss the possibility. In a mea culpa posted on X (formerly Twitter), Cillizza—a former CNN reporter and editor-at-large—laments that he and his corporate media colleagues were duped by Fauci and other public health officials.
“My belief back then was that if this was a debate between Donald Trump and Anthony Fauci on the origins of a pandemic-level virus, I was going to go with the guy who spent his entire career studying this stuff, not the reality TV-star-turned-president,” the former CNN reporter writes. “Except, it now appears that the reality TV-star-turned-president was right. And Anthony Fauci was wrong.”
The National Pulse previously reported the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic revealed that Fauci was snuck into the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) headquarters to influence their findings on the origins of COVID-19. Under the Biden government, intelligence community officials were dismissive of evidence the COVID-19 pandemic was caused by a leak from a laboratory in Wuhan, China. However, the CIA has reversed course and, over this past weekend, stated the pandemic was likely the result of the mishandling of virus samples at the Wuhan lab.
“I deferred to expert voices at a moment—May 2020—when even they were making it up on the fly,” Cillizza admits, while defending his past reporting in light of the CIA’s determination on the pandemic origins. He adds: “The other major mistake I made was that I let my belief that Trump just, well, said stuff, get in the way of the possibility that he could be right.”

President Donald J. Trump’s Border Czar, Tom Homan, pulled no punches during an interview with CNN, stating that illegals would not be allowed to hide in schools or hospitals to avoid deportation. During an interview with Kaitlan Collins, Homan was questioned about the justification for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in schools. Homan responded that concern should only arise if individuals are related to public safety or national security threats.
The Border Czar emphasized, “If they are a public safety threat, a national security threat, they should be chilled. They should be afraid because we’re looking for them.”
Collins highlighted apprehensions among illegal immigrant parents. Homan maintained a firm stance, asserting that being in the country without authorization is unlawful and the enforcement of immigration laws remains a priority.
“It’s a crime. And that’s the way it’s supposed to be. I wouldn’t feel comfortable if I’m in Switzerland illegally. So we’re going to enforce the laws of this country,” he said.
Homan announced ICE raids against criminal illegals last week following President Trump’s inauguration. So far, the agency has arrested at least 1,179 illegals. According to Homan, many are wanted for heinous crimes, from murder to child rape.
