Another Top CNN Star Bites the Dust.

Gloria Borger is leaving CNN after a nearly two-decade tenure with the corporate news network. The senior political analyst’s departure comes amid the media outlet’s continued struggles to generate revenue and attract viewers, forcing CEO Mark Thompson to consider layoffs for some of the outlet’s top on-air talent.

Since joining the network in 2007, Borger has been a prominent figure in much of CNN’s political and election programming, appearing frequently on The Situation Room and AC360. More recently, the senior political analyst merged as one of CNN’s top critics of President Donald J. Trump. In a 2022 column—citing now-debunked allegations leveled by the Democrat-controlled January 6 Select Committee—Borger wrote that Trump is “morally, intellectually and emotionally unfit for the office.”

Additionally, in 2021, Borger pushed the false claim that Trump’s legal team “lied” when they asserted the President was unaware that Vice President Mike Pence was in any danger during the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots. Pence, who was at the U.S. Capitol when the riots initially broke out, was removed to a secure location by his Secret Service protection detail.

BLEEDING VIEWERS.

The National Pulse previously reported that CNN suffered a 13 percent drop in its prime-time viewership following Trump’s landslide victory in the 2024 presidential election. This past May, the network’s number of prime-time viewers hit a three-decade low. It is likely that the blatant anti-Trump partisanship of CNN’s on-air talent—as well as several incidents of false reporting—are behind the ratings collapse.

Navy veteran Zachary Young is currently suing the network, alleging he was defamed by a news segment claiming he charged excessive fees without guaranteeing safety or success during Joe Biden’s bungled withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Additionally, a recent video segment aired by CNN claiming to document the rescue of a Syrian dissident from an Assad regime prison fell apart under scrutiny. While the network initially stated the Syrian man was named Adel Ghurbal, independent fact-checkers revealed the alleged prisoner was actually Salama Mohammad Salama—a notorious Assad regime torturer.

Bannon’s War Room, CFP’s Kane Beat Corporate Media in ‘Most Influential’ List.

Former White House Chief Strategist Stephen K. Bannon and Kane, who runs CitizenFreePress.com, have both beaten out stiff competition from corporate media networks and personalities in the Mediaite Most Influential List 2024.

The list underscores significant changes in media dynamics, spotlighting new figures gaining traction due to the transformative political scene.

Kane, a keen reader and supporter of The National Pulse, came in at 21 out of 75 on the list, with Mediaite stating: “It’s a testament to the power of the Drudge Report that it took two decades for a viable competitor to emerge. Now it’s here in the Citizen Free Press, a buzzy and fast-paced compendium of links that flanks Drudge from the right.

“CFP has surged in recent years, building a large audience for those who want to read conservative friendly news from a wide range of sources – including legacy outlets like The New York Times and CNN. If the site does anywhere in the ballpark of the 350 million pageviews in traffic per month it says it does, CFP is driving the intra-conservative conversation in a way few can even fathom (and Mediaite can attest to the fact that a CFP link is a huge traffic driver).

“Kane, the mysterious proprietor of the site, is open about the fact that he sought to mimic the success of the Drudge Report. In an interview this year, Kane revealed Steve Bannon and other stars of Trumpworld helped grow CFP from a page read by a few thousand people to a behemoth being eyed by venture capitalists looking for the next fledgling media giant. Kane continues to run the site by himself, working 18-hour days to keep links fresh. That means it’s not just the site’s influence, but Kane’s choices for what to include that are often driving the national conversation.”

Of Bannon’s War Room, placed 34th, Mediaite states: “The greatest media checks on Trump 2.0 will likely not come from the president-elect’s left, but rather his right. And the man who helped build Trump 1.0 has established himself as one of the few with the ability and willingness to take Trump on for not being conservative enough.

“Already, Steve Bannon has made clear that the defeat of Matt Gaetz’s attorney general bid was a shot to the solar plexus — and warned Trump that he should not have waved the white flag. Should his frequent guest Kash Patel find himself in deep water during his confirmation fight to become FBI director, Bannon’s sure to raise hell. (Pity the moderate Republican who finds himself on the business end of a Bannon rant.) And no foe is too powerful for Bannon to not only challenge, but to rattle.

“You can be sure the folks at 1211 Avenue of the Americas pay heed to Bannon’s frequent attacks on Rupert Murdoch. Bannon’s War Room is a daily must-listen for MAGA diehards and those who want to understand them. What you hear on War Room today you’re very likely to read in a Truth Social post tomorrow. And the guests you see on War Room — like Patel, former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn, and incoming White House trade advisor Peter Navarro — are far more likely to influence public policy than the type of backbench Democrat you often see on MSNBC. The greatest testament to how big of a year Steve Bannon had? The fact that he made such an impact while spending a third of it behind bars. Just imagine how much influence he will have with a full 12 months of freedom and unfettered access to his audience.”

Harris Campaign Chief Admits Corporate Media Is Irrelevant.

Rob Flaherty, deputy campaign manager for the Harris-Walz team, is conceding that corporate media outlets are increasingly irrelevant. “There’s just no value—with respect to my colleagues in the mainstream press—in a general election, to speaking to The New York Times or speaking to The Washington Post, because those [readers] are already with us,” he said.

WaPo owner Jeff Bezos offered similar views after he controversially blocked his newspaper’s planned endorsement of Harris, telling furious subscribers, “[Newspaper] endorsements do nothing to tip the scales of an election. No undecided voters in Pennsylvania are going to say, ‘I’m going with Newspaper A’s endorsement.’ None.”

Flaherty told Semafor that the “reason folks are seeking alternative sources of media and are turning away from political news is because they don’t trust our institutions. They don’t trust elites, they don’t trust the media, they don’t trust all this stuff.”S

He insisted the solution for Democratic candidates is “not as simple as, like, ‘Go to Joe Rogan and talk about how great democracy is and the importance of preserving the independence of the DOJ,’ or whatever,” explaining, “You’ve got to speak their language.”

PODCASTS.

He said he believes there are “plenty of cultural touchpoints” that Democrats could draw from, noting that “Joe Rogan was, at least recently, for Medicare for All” and that “Theo Von is really against money in politics and the way that pharma has flooded our communities with opioids.”

“Those are all things that Democrats have something to say on,” he suggested—but despite this supposed understanding of the audience Democrats have to connect with, it was Trump’s team, not Harris’s, that appeared on Joe Rogan and Theo Von’s podcasts.

Flaherty did not discount the corporate media entirely, insisting, “One of the most important moments of the campaign for the Vice President was her interview with Bret Baier” on Fox News.

However, the Democrat may have learned the wrong lessons from the encounter–one of a vanishingly small number of non-softball interviews Harris took– describing it as a “huge fundraising moment” and “a huge social moment” despite a widespread perception that the appearance was a disaster.

DOJ Inspector General Says Schiff and Swalwell Behind Russia Hoax Leaks.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General (IG) released a report last week revealing Democrat Members of Congress and their staff actively leaked classified materials to the media to push the Russia hoax narrative against President Donald J. Trump during his first term in office. According to the report, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was aware of the classified leaks and their sources but failed to pursue the matter adequately.

Representatives Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Eric Swalwell (D-CA) were named in the report as having purposely leaked classified documents to several corporate media outlets. The report states that a whistleblower who served as a Democratic staffer on a congressional committee identified the two California Democrats to the FBI. The whistleblower stated they “suspected that Member 1 had previously leaked classified information and that Member 2 wanted to influence public opinion via the release of classified information.”

Additionally, the IG report states a senior Democrat congressional staffer was found to be communicating with at least three members of the media who subsequently published classified information that he had access to. However, despite evidence of the leak being handed over to the FBI, the agency declined to investigate further. The New York Times identified the suspected leaker as Michael Bahar.

The investigation included reviewing the communications of several congressional staffers. The DOJ appeared to monitor both Republican and Democrat staff members, as well as nonpartisan positions. A total of 21 Democrats and 20 Republicans had their communications analyzed. The report states that no charges were filed despite various individuals being implicated in leaks.

CNN Calls ABC’s $15M ‘Bending of the Knee’ to Trump ‘Embarrassing,’ Fear More Lawsuits Over Fake News.

The corporate media is running scared over concerns that ABC’s decision to settle a legal dispute with President-elect Donald J. Trump for $15 million means their false reporting could be subject to litigation as well. CNN‘s Jim Acosta and Brian Stelter blasted the settlement stemming from comments made by Clinton-operative-turned-journalist George Stephanopoulos, who repeatedly claimed during a March 10, 2024, broadcast that Trump was “found liable for rape.” However, a Manhattan jury found Trump was not liable for rape, but only for battery.

Acosta kicked off the segment lamenting about “this bending the knee going on,” asking Stelter: “Brian, this, I mean, this is pretty unusual and disturbing. What do you make of all this and this ugly legal fight that is trying to be avoided by ABC and Disney?”

“Right. Trump has a long history of filing lawsuits, including against news outlets. Most of the time, those cases get thrown out. Judges see right through those frivolous cases and throw them out,” Stelter replied, noting the prospect of legal discovery may have a motivating factor “because there might have been embarrassing emails or text messages on ABC servers that were going to become public.”

He continued: “So this might have been a case where ABC is avoiding public embarrassment by paying $15 million. But look, there’s a lot of people that say that payment is embarrassing as well. So this is not the end of the story.”

FEAR OF LITIGATION.

“Media lawyers are worried about this, they’re preparing for it,” Stelter told Acosta, adding: ” They are preparing their newsrooms for it with the expectation of more lawsuits, more leak investigations, more subpoenas in the months and years to come. You know, there’s a great AP story about this this morning saying there’s a balancing act right now for the press between being fearful and just being prepared, doing our jobs, but being aware of the climate.”

According to the CNN commentator, a source at ABC simply told him: “We needed this problem to go away.”

REPORT: CNN Freed Notorious Assad Torturer, Claimed He Was an Imprisoned Dissident.

CNN, which continues to bleed viewers and struggle to remain solvent, claimed a man in Syria they helped free last week was a political prisoner of the Assad regime. However, the individual is now believed to be a notorious regime torturer who disguised himself to evade capture.

In a video that has gone viral online, CNN journalist Clarissa Ward and a camera crew—accompanied by a Syrian rebel solider—help escort a man identifying himself as Adel Ghurbal from a Damascus prison. According to Ghurbal, he had been imprisoned 90 days before the fall of the Syrian capital and was confined to a windowless cell. However, the man’s behavior appeared strange to many who viewed the video.

While Ghurbal claimed to have not seen sunlight in 90 days, he didn’t wince when outdoors in the sun again. Additionally, Ghurbal was well groomed for someone confined to a damp and dark cell for three months—his hair and fingernails appeared well-kept, and he showed no signs of torture commonly seen in other prisons freed by the rebels.

NOTORIOUS TORTURER.

However, analysis by the independent Syrian civil war fact checker Verify-Sy suggests that the prisoner’s real name is not Adel Ghurbal at all. Instead, the man in the video is actually believed to be Salama Mohammad Salama. A first lieutenant in Syrian Air Force intelligence, Salama is an alleged war criminal and one of the Assad regime’s top torturers, who would often extort prisoners for money in exchange for not torturing them.

According to local Damascus residents, Salama was confined in the prison for just a few weeks following a dispute with a superior over dividing the extortion money.

CNN says it is aware that the man in its video may have given a false identity and is investigating the matter.

BREAKING: ABC, George Stephanopoulos to Pay $15M to Trump in Rape Defamation Suit.

ABC News and its anchor, George Stephanopoulos, have reached a settlement with President-elect Donald Trump in a defamation lawsuit. The agreement, filed publicly on Saturday, will see ABC News pay Trump $15 million as a charitable contribution toward his Presidential foundation and museum. In addition, the network will cover $1 million in Trump’s attorney fees.

The settlement arises from a lawsuit Trump filed after Stephanopoulos made claims during a March 2024 interview on “This Week” that Trump had been found liable for rape. These statements were made in an interview with Rep. Nancy Mace following a civil case involving E. Jean Carroll, where the jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse, not rape, under New York law. The settlement includes ABC News and Stephanopoulos releasing a statement of “regret” over the inaccurate claims, which will be included as an editor’s note in the related article.

Despite challenging the lawsuit and claiming he wouldn’t be intimidated, Stephanopoulos now agrees to the terms. The settlement follows U.S. Magistrate Judge Lisette M. Reid’s order for a deposition ahead of a December 24 deadline for a motion for summary judgment, potentially avoiding a trial.

This settlement comes amid several legal developments for Trump. Federal Judge Tanya Chutkan recently dismissed Special Counsel Jack Smith’s case against Trump concerning the 2020 election. Additionally, in New York, Trump was granted the right to pursue dismissal of the charges in a case led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump continues to pursue legal action against CBS News, seeking $10 billion in damages over alleged deceptive conduct.

BREAKING: Trump WILL Be Named TIME Person of the Year.

President-elect Donald J. Trump is poised to be crowned TIME magazine’s “Person of the Year.” To celebrate this recognition, the America First leader will personally ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday morning, sources suggest.

Trump, previously honored in 2016 after his victory over Hillary Clinton, joins an elite group of 13 U.S. presidents, including successor and now predecessor Joe Biden, who have been recognized by TIME.

The shortlist for this prestigious title included Vice President Kamala Harris, the Princess of Wales, Trump-supporting tech mogul Elon Musk, and Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu. TIME is also celebrating Women’s NBA star Caitlin Clark as Athlete of the Year, Elton John as Icon of the Year, and Lisa Su of AMD as CEO of the Year.

TIME is not officially confirming its choice, with a spokesman stating, “This year’s choice will be announced tomorrow morning, Dec. 12, on Time.com.”

The “Person of the Year” title is awarded to individuals who have profoundly shaped the year’s narrative, from historic leaders like Winston Churchill to contemporary figures like Germany’s Angela Merkel and Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

REPORT: Vox Media Dumps Taylor Lorenz.

Vox Media is ending its distribution deal with journalist Taylor Lorenz, according to sources familiar with the matter. Semafor’s Max Tani reports that Vox’s collaboration with Lorenz will conclude at the start of 2025.

Lorenz, a former Washington Post reporter, refuted the report on social media, saying, “This is 100 percent false and I’m very much still working with Vox, and my show is not up for ‘renewal’ because I actually own 100 percent of the show and control the distribution, not Vox. Media reporters continue to lie about me!” However, Vox declined to comment on Semafor’s report, and Semafor is standing by it.

The controversy surrounding Lorenz heightened recently following remarks she made about the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. On the social media platform Bluesky, Lorenz appeared to justify the killing, saying, “People have very justified hatred toward insurance company CEOs because these executives are responsible for an unfathomable amount of death and suffering.” In a subsequent post referencing an insurance company rescinding anesthesia coverage, she added, “And people wonder why we want these executives dead.”

Her statements came just after Thompson was fatally shot in New York City, leaving his two sons fatherless.

In August, another scandal erupted when Lorenz referred to Joe Biden as a “war criminal” in a social media post. The post ultimately prompted her departure from The Washington Post amidst an internal review.

BBC Journalist Had 6,000 Indecent Images of Minors.

Duncan Bartlett, a former BBC journalist, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after admitting to multiple child sexual abuse crimes. The sentencing was handed down at Wood Green Crown Court in north London. Bartlett, aged 52, admitted to 35 offenses on August 30.

London’s Metropolitan Police uncovered electronic devices belonging to Bartlett containing nearly 6,000 indecent images of minors. Further investigation revealed he had paid individuals in the Philippines to organize live-streamed content of child exploitation for his viewing. The devices were confiscated after Bartlett’s arrest in September 2021.

Bartlett’s career at the BBC spanned 14 years until 2015. He served as a correspondent in Tokyo and presented for the BBC World Service. Post-BBC, Bartlett continued working as a researcher and China expert at SOAS University of London until his guilty plea.

Several current and former BBC personalities have been convicted of serious sexual offenses in recent months. Top-paid BBC News anchor Huw Edwards pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children in July. Former presenter Adam Britton, who appeared in nature documentaries alongside Sir David Attenborough, pleaded guilty to raping and torturing 42 dogs and killing at least 39 in August.

All Britons who watch live television—even if none of it is BBC content—are compelled by law to fund the public broadcaster by purchasing a TV license. Anyone who does not is liable for prosecution, facing fines backed by the threat of imprisonment for non-payment.
